  1. I think it depends on what type of rifle shooting you are talking about. Calling a shot is calling a shot, so it is better than not shooting anything so it will increase your base skills. But the improvement will be minimal. I would agree with Eric in that to shoot a rifle better you need to do the things you do with your pistol, dryfire, live fire, visualization and add breathing for those longer shots, but you need to use your rifle to do it.
  2. Just got mine in the mail on Friday, it works awesome on my Mt. Bike
  3. A hand cart should be fine. Just get some cardboard, wheel it up to the bed of the truck (tailgate off) put the cardboard on the side of the safe, tilt it up and have a few guys there to slide it in. 800lbs isn't that bad if you dont have to lift it too far and your truck isn't that tall. If you have a really tall truck, just rent a U-haul and run it up the ramp
  4. Perpetually Paranoid Especially for a guy who thinks it is evil to permanently disable a grip safety on a 1911 Is this part of your collection Rhino?
  5. The nice thing about the A zone is that it is tall. If you hold in the center of the a zone you will get A's for a large variety of distances. An inch or two is about as much as it varies over a pretty big range of distances so I tend to shade more than aim differently because you aren't that precise when you are moving around and you can vary an inch or two just by your movement. I hope this make sense.
  6. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5787000/ So are you contempling a job as an art thief?
  7. a 1911? You can either bend the right leaf spring flat, or grind off the tab on the right side of the beavertail that pushes on the leaf spring.
  8. The first one sort of. Don't pick a target, pick a spot on the target. Your sight will magiacally appear once you focus on a spot you want to shoot. This can happen very fast once you get used to it.
  9. How could using a 12lbs shear a bbl? That doesn't even make sense. You might get frame battering, but shear a barrel. How could that happen from a light recoil spring? I don't see how it is physically possible, please educate me. Improper fitting (usually from squaring the radiused cut at the back of the bottom lugs on an unramped barrel) Spring irrelevant. Thanks Renee.
  10. 9mm is cheaper to feed They are pretty fun, I got the chance to play with one and a 30 round mag a neat toy but not too practical for competion in my opinion.
  11. I use Bob's microdot also, the big fiber optics are way too overwhelming for my eyes, I've tried 5 front posts and it seems to work the best for me in "all around." If I was shooting bright light all the time, no dawn/dusk/shadows, I would shoot a non-fiber sight.
  12. I guess I got the second generation one because I have had zero problems with mine. I use a heavy in my SVI .40, tungsten barrel, I know 2 people who, after shooting my set-up, duplicated it and have had no problems with it either. It is super soft, but it doesn't return as "fast" on multiple shots as my 14lb spring set-up, (no .12-.13 splits ) but it also keeps me from "double tapping," so that is the main reason I shoot it. I know I need to see the second shot shooting the RM. I don't have to grip as hard so I am a tad more relaxed. If the gun gets dirty (I don't clean it until I can feel the slide slow down) it can get a bit slingshotty feeling, but other that that it works great. It comes down to what you like. I know bunches of people shooting them and bunches tht don't. The only ones I've heard about breaking are on the forum, heck I've seen more Glocks break than RM's. I've broken 3 tungsten rods. But 2 were due to my tinkering, the other I don't know why it failed. I can't really blame it on the rod, the one I use in my open gun is from the same batch as 2 of those I broke in my limited gun and it hasn't failed. I've not broken a Bomar, but I know many have. Are they bad? Go with what you like and I haven't felt bad about recomending people who shoot with excessive tension to give the RM a try, some like it some don't. Good luck
  13. Isn't the fiber on the front sight of your gun? (smart ass mode off) That is a huge temptation, but you still have to maintain front sight to rear sight alignment and not dot color on target. ... and no it isn't always easy, but it isn't that hard either, it just takes focus. I serrate all my front sights, because I know when I'm shooting tight shots I need to see the serrations. It is helps me switch gears.
  14. If you have good light yes, without a doubt for me, but if you shoot in area with shade/shadows and low light and lead bullets fiber optic can make a huge difference. I've been to ranges shooting a standard sight where you can't see the sight because of poor lighting, shadows and smoke. If I am shooting a match with good light I will generally take a black sharpie to the optic and black it out if I am serious about the match.
  15. Ditto what Bob said. On poppers and shots beyond 15, I make sure I see (try to anyways) the black on the top of the sight, closer I line the fiber in the center of the notch, it seems to be good enough.
  16. 15 yards since that is where most shots are where I shoot.
  17. Do a search on the scott grip and you should find instruction on do it yourself grips. I prefer the expoxy and grit method because you don't have to replace it like tape and you can make it as aggerssive as you like.
  18. A good video card makes life nice with a PC but they are almost as much as some low end PC's. I can do massive graphics on my PC and it doesn't glitch, but then again I paid for a machine that was designed to do that. To do movies and games a good video card is a must, they suck up a lot of reasources. As far as heaping piles of shit, there are many computers sold that are not designed to work right, but to sell cheaply. I've had great PC's but then again I spend what it takes for what I want them to do.
  19. why mess wioth 126's? Just put a regular basepad on 140's if you want a shorter mag.
  20. It can take years, but it can be done
  21. They should meet at the gun Practice on moving both hands at the same time and trying to get them to the gun as fast as you can. Wherever that is should work for you.
  22. I could care less as long as I know where I am.
