  1. This... times a thousand. And if anyone in here isn’t aware who wtturn is... he wins HOA in Production at fairly large matches, fairly consistently. So his opinion might carry some weight. Onto the pile, I’ll toss a video of the previously-mentioned Matt Hopkins. Who wins even more often: And I think that’s about all I have to say.
  2. Til you run them through a comp. Coated bullets make a mess of a compensator with any powder, but the leading does build up noticeably faster with Titegroup than with other powders.
  3. I assume you mean brass/copper colored primers, as opposed to the silver/nickel finish? If so these are the brands I’m familiar with: “NICKEL” Federal CCI “COPPER” Winchester S & B Remington Fiocchi (not positive)
  4. @kmc if you have a bearing kit and have not bent the ejector wire to hit the brass as high as it used to, we’ve found the source of your problem.
  5. If you need 1/2-28 threading and you’re willing to do some work on it and have access to a drill press, the $50 Surefire Procomp for 5.56 guns works fantastically. Drill the center out to 3/8” - which is easy on a drill press, given the precisely machined .223 pilot hole. Then simply enlarge the first two ports facing upward slowly with a cordless drill at the range, until the gun shoots flat. (I have to credit Zack Smith and Max Leograndis for this idea. I’d never have thought of it.) Here’s where mine ended up:
  6. Yeah. It’s a 4”. Mostly because... why not? I sent my slide off of to Mark at L&M Precision Gunworks a month ago, after he answered a few of my emails on a Sunday. He just finished cutting on it today. We... mutually decided to go full retard. DPP 2.5 MOA was buried deep enough that the optic’s underside will be the firing pin channel’s cover. Weight before milling: 11.875 oz Weight after milling: 8.875 oz (DPP weighs 1.9oz so most of that is coming right back, but I was adamant I wanted to try to peel an ounce or so out of the slide if possible.) PPQ slides are insanely thick, so this may hold up. But we’re gonna have to see if I can manage to crack it, in which case it’ll be time for slide #2. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
  7. @Sarge I think it’s rather obvious I was referring to pointing the gun at things as if shooting it.
  8. It’s a GAME. Use the easy thing that lets you win.
  9. I run a DPP 2.5 MOA on my gun in carry optics, and like it. However, like the others said? I’d run a laser on my PCC if needed before I’d put a second dot on it.
  10. @MisterB conventional use of “air gunning”as a phrase means PRETENDING you have a pistol/rifle in your hands. Much like one does not “air guitar” if they’re holding a real guitar. However... hell yes, handling a carbine while people are downrange scoring, resetting, or shooting is an instant and indisputable DQ. Just like pulling a handgun from the holster. When shooting PPC I view handling the flagged gun just like lifting an unloaded pistol from the holster. I roll my little cart right next to the line, but don’t withdraw it from the rack until told to make ready. Other might thing it’s OK to place it on a table or whatever, but that doesn’t matter to me; I’ve had my AD from handling a *known* unloaded gun back in the day. I’m going to default to the safest possible routine.
  11. Wow. Watching someone load with their weakhand thumb inside the trigger guard is more than slightly cringe-worthy.
  12. @Startingover I’ve shot some local’s PSA builds with minimal or no tuning on the recoil system. You get what you pay for. Bouncy bounce bounce.
  13. The CODA evolution wouldn’t do jack for muzzle rise anyway. That design is 100% dedicated to mitigating rearward recoil, and does nothing to nudge the muzzle downward. EDIT: and that’s all they’re good for. A nudge. 90% of your flatness comes from buffer & ammo & spring tuning. A properly tuned comp can just take the last little bit out of what’s left.
  14. I’m pretty impressed with the Everglades plated 125s. Ran them for the first time in our match on Sunday. Grouped well at 25yd: Gun ran great with them: And even blasting them along at 148 power factor (3.78 prima V = 1191 fps ?) the plating was no issue; zero crud in my comp after 200 rounds. With my 125 BBI load, I used a carbide burr in a dremel to carve six whole grams of lead out of the comp after about 2,000 rounds. That mess was like concrete, a screwdriver and hammer were the only other things that made a dent.
  15. People to follow on Insta who actively post shooting content? maxamundi zackonthereg qtrc10 hkimshooting jaliseandjustinewilliams shane_coley benstoeger lena_miculek jjracaza joel.park_ axonshootingsports jessielharrison And I’m “125fmj” but feel free to skip that one.
  16. Max nearly zeroed that stage because he blew past an array of three targets - 6 mikes, 6 procedurals. According to his post on Instagram. Ouch.
  17. Because it isn't. At every match in USPSA history including everything from locals to Nationals, you'll see the top guys dryfiring before loading a round into the chamber. However you interpret the rules to permit this, or read them so that it's questionable.. the fact is that it happens at every USPSA match. That isn't changing in August of 2018 simply because a range lawyer asked a question on some internet forum, so don't get too carried away.
  18. @mattmd1 you are correct; the "all around" sights do not offer the same advantage when shooting fast, outdoors, in USPSA. Which means, of course, that the competition sights give up something when it comes to combative use. Unless, of course, you run a light on the nightstand gun's rail like I do. Then you're back to having the advantage of a tall, crisp, open sight picture. Now it's just black and neatly silhouetted in front of the light beam.
  19. Plain black rear. Fiber front. Warren Tactical. TTI. Dawson Precision. Several really good options.
