  1. If you’re this displeased - and disconcerted - by loading this short? Grab a 100rd sample pack of a 125gr truncated cone from blue bullets or black bullets international, and see what kind of length you can get. An M&P that needed Acme’s 124 RN to be about 1.110” would feed a bullet with a TC profile flawlessly at 1.150” Bullet shape really, really matters. Far more than weight.
  2. @Dirtchevy841... Lightly edited to bring the shadows up, and resized!
  3. If he’s not online I can help now. PM sent
  4. If you can actually shoot you classification you’re a grandbagger right? Thats how it works?
  5. Really? Their requirement for M is pretty damn low. This would be a good thing for those looking to move up. (Fun facts: I took 1st Place SSP Master in two State Championships in 2011ish, then got into USPSA. Wound up in C class. )
  6. @Nemesis Lead yeah loctite everywhere? it’s frustrating as hell. But then, JP’s are one of the few PCC brands we all know you can buy and pretty much take to Nationals without test-firing... and expect 100% reliability. Hmm.
  7. If nothing else, you’re going to HAVE to run slower because freely pumping your arms guarantees a 180 break. So the time savings versus running harder and multi-tasking by loading while turning and setting up is probably not there. And the latter method makes conscious muzzle control while moving agessively much easier.
  8. Oh terrific. Now we have two weights for the same gun in the production list.
  9. The Limited Pro is similar in “pimp-ness” to a Stock 2. The giveaway that its a competition-frame model (Stock I/II/III or Lim Pro) is the big square trigger guard. The base-model “Witnesses” have a round trigger guard. They’re also not hardchromed.

  11. The large frame Tanfos are similar in reach to a Glock, so you’ll be back to flipping the gun. Not a big deal, but expect it. The PPQs slide release and mag catch are ergonomically superior to pretty much every other viable Production gun.
  12. So am I. I loved building mine. Wasn’t trying to talk you into or out of the platform. Merely to set appropriate expectations. Hopefully a local wants me to set theirs up for them someday. Fun guns to work on, although the learning process makes you want to beat you head against the wall at times.
  13. You forgot “two months of your time in the evenings after work.”
  14. I went with a stock 3 and loved it. After. After I learned to load ammo to “oh, hell. Primers that are flush are HIGH?!” specifications. And wrote the book on taking one apart and polishing and tuning. If the idea of multiple range trips to slowly whittle away at the various reasons your particular Tanfo is acting up (tearing it down a few dozen times to tune and tweakin between) is not annoying and instead sounds like a fun project? Buy one. I enjoyed the process. A lot. I liked shooting the gun. But I shoot polymer just as well, and so will you. Tanfos aren’t going to help you obtain sight pictures better nor pull triggers straighter. Your scores won’t change. Don’t buy a gun to move up. I loved shooting mine, but I’m back in polymer with a Q5 Match and I’m not missing out on anything.
  15. I don’t know. I only used Win Small Pistol. The knowledge that Win SRPs don’t run through a vibraprime came from a good friend who had similarly bad luck. What gun are you running them through and what have you done to your hammer/striker spring? CCI Magnum pistol primers are a favorite of mine. As are standard S&B small pistol when on sale cheap at Cabelas. Both tend to be easy to find when Win and Federal Small Pistol are out of stock. And both run flawlessly through an RF100 or vibraprime.
  16. Same. All Winchester small primers (pistol & rifle) suck the most going through vibratory fillers. Especially the handheld vibra prime. Federals have occasional hangups - but much more rarely than Wins. The CCIs I’ve used (500 and 550) and Sellier & Bellot SPP all go through it flawlessly. Like butter. I stick to those primers now.
  17. A lot of us intially thought the extra power of a 45/10mm/40 caliber gun was a good thing when we first began getting into guns. When you transition from a gun owner to an actual proficient shooter... many of us slowly (or rapidly) switched to 9mm. Cheaper to feed, and doesn’t shatter our fragile feminine wrists.
  18. @Brophy-J if you want to move up in classifcation, reloads matter. It’s all about the classifiers. Get your hand out at the end of the handgusrd as far as possible without locking the elbow, so that you can control the muzzle better. And put it back in the same spot or that rep on you practice doesn’t count Start moving sooner. Try to have your hand ON the fresh mag before the 0.3 second beep finishes. It appears you’re still for about 0.5 after the start of the beep, before you move. Audio could just be out of sync, but try to react faster always
  19. You need to shoot more CZs. Mine was setup that way and still had about double the reset travel of a couple of my friends fully-pimped shadows. It never bothered me at all and it shoots just as fast, but it did have more travel.
  20. Same. There comes a point where getting a new generation involved in shooting is more important than zelous adhrence to the rules we’d use at Nationals. Can’t have all the youngsters growing up antigun simply because they’ve never enjoyed shooting one.
  21. You’ll see no appreciable difference in velocity between 1.100” and 1.125” and 1.150” in a titegroup load. I’ve tested it. So try various OALs to see if one is markedly more accurate. Once you’re sure of the length you want to load at, try various powder charges as well, for accuracy.
  22. What this man said. You will not ultimately save time over running with an empty gun and freshly drawn mag, then merging the two as you arrive in the rear position.
  23. I can read. The problem with this thread is that it got off onto a couple of very different hypotheticals (like “what about an *obviously* intentional makeup shot?”) and I got mentally stuck addressing those. I’ll let you guys return to the actual topic at hand.
  24. @ThomasH I can’t speak for everyone else who holds a timer in the world, but regardless of what the DNROI says? I don’t plan on suddenly DQing people for aligning the sights with the target and firing a delibrate makeup shot that occurs before “if clear, hammer down, holster.” If someone else challenged me on it, I’d simply shrug and tell them it was clearly neither negligent nor accidental, and thus cannot be an AD or ND. Aside from a very small percentage of jerks certified as ROs who were pulling such shenanigans already, I don’t think anyone else is going to suddenly try to DQ responsible gun handlers, either.
