    Czechmate

That's a good question. Depends on whether it still says CZ 75 Tactical Sports on the side or Czechmate as to whether it would be on the "safe" handgun roster. http://certguns.doj.ca.gov/ However, I'm not taking a chance on it. There is a family transfer exemption to the Cali law so Matt is shipping it to my Dad's FFL in Oklahoma who will then ship it to my FFL in Cali as a family transfer. All transfers are through FFLs so the Feds are happy and all Cali knows is it's a gift from my Father. Sure, I'll be out an extra transfer fee and some shipping but since I already shoot a TS I think I'll make it up in ammo trying to adapt to a 2011-style gun. Once it gets here we can scrutinize the markings and ask some FFLs here if they'd allow it in as a TS. As to the Limited/Standard question, one thing I heard (when I was investigating bringing in a Sphinx Open gun) is that the ATF will not allow any handgun to be imported into the US if it doesn't have iron sights on it. So the irons could just be a legality for importation.

    Help!

I had a similar problem w/ one of my SP-01's. Gose here actually figured it out but I needed to file on my ejector a bit to get it to angle back and to the right (to guide the case toward the ejection port). It's been quite awhile since I've done this so do some searched to try and find some pictures. If you have trouble I can try and take some pics of my ejector.

    Czechmate

Talked to Matt this morning and it'll ship out today or Monday! I'm impressed they kept a lid on this long enough to get them in stock. I assumed I'd order it today and it would be months before it actually arrived. I was SHOCKED when Matt said it would ship so quickly. I'm impressed! My Open 3-gun package is nearly complete - just need my Saiga-12 back from R&R. Now to start thinking about a minor 9mm load that still works the comp.
  4. Chuck (or anyone), How did you carry spare mags? Robert has my S12 now for conversion but I've been trying to figure out the best way to hold spare mags. I'd rather not spend a lot of time and money experimenting. Thanks!
  5. They are for sale and shipping. http://swfa.com/Swarovski-1-6x24-Z6i-30mm-Riflescope-P47248.aspx I also don't like the heavy vertical and horizontal lines. If it was just the dot and tree it would be sweet.
  6. Doug, Everything I've heard says the shoot-off is on Monday. I'm waiting to buy my Vegas tickets until after RM3G.
  7. My TiVo says it will be on VersusHD at 4:30am (PDT) on Monday 8/2.
  8. Keep us posted on your mag adventures. I find your grip comment interesting. The TS is what I would consider a large frame gun (as opposed to my CZ SP-01). WIth the stock wood grips I could barely hold it - I had to get the thinner grips. But yeah I'm definitely planning to find one to fondle before I take the leap. Thanks!
  9. I would think a good 1-4, Swaro 1-6 or S&B 1-8 would be much better than running two optics. I'm planning a move from Tac Optics to Open in the near future (if I can find a pistol) and am planning to run one of the above. Less of a learning curve than having two optics to worry about.
  10. I'm a current 9mm CZ TS shooter (3-gun) and am looking to move into Open. I'd like to keep the CZ ergonomics so have had my eye on a Tanfo open gun but need 9mm hi-cap mags that work. Wish they could get this solved - money is burning a hole in my pocket
  11. I've had this happen once in about 2,000 rounds. I was shooting and then the rifle didn't go bang. Luckily this was the last target of the stage and my first shot was an A (IMGA scoring) As the RO gave me the order to unload and show clear I rolled the rifle to the left to peer into the ejection port and there was an empty case still being held by the bolt. I pulled the charging handle back and the piece of brass ejected into my face I just assumed I had a mis-sized piece of brass but now I'll keep an eye on it.
  12. Or they have family outside the state and bring it in through a family transfer - these are exempt from the roster.
  13. I adjust mine until it barely runs and then crank it open another 3/4 turn. Haven't had an issue. At the end of the day, any speed advantage you'd gain by the very slight decrease in recoil will be wiped out x100 if you have a single FTF on a stage. Even if a thumb screw gave you the ability to adjust on a stage it would take forever. Just leave some margin on the gas system, get a good comp, and practice
  14. Anyone know when the new BDC reticle will be available?
  15. Breakfree only on the BCG - you don't want lube attracting and holding on to grit, brass shavings, etc. I use a tiny amount of slide glide on the trigger, Hoppe's #9 for the barrel and breakfree everywhere else. I do wipe down the upper and BCG w/ breakfree each night of a match to keep it nice and wet.
  16. Erik, Just received the email from Chris that they've finalized pricing and are ready to start taking orders. http://www.cpwsa.com/u_s__optics.htm However I do have a few questions that I hope you can help with: 1) Does anyone make a throw lever? I have one on my Burris XTR and love it. 2) I messed w/ another shooter's 1-4 USO scope (Idk if it's the same model) and it allowed you to twist the magnification to LESS than 1X. It really messed w/ me. Did he just have a weird/broken model or do they all do that? I sometimes switch magnification during a stage and would hate to swing the throw lever to the stop and end up at something other than 1X. 3) Are there elevation and windage knob options? W/ your reticle I don't see a need to dial and so would like the lowest profile knobs possible. Thanks! Chris
  17. Most commonly, 18" is the shortest you'll see w/ rifle-length gas systems. However, MSTN uses rifle-length gas systems on their 17's.
  18. I'm pondering a move to Open in 2011 or 2012 so I sent my S-12 to Robert a couple weeks ago for the Open treatment. When finished mine will look like this - I didn't bother w/ the shroud:
  19. Looking good! However, I would like a side-by-side comparison w/ a Meopta WRT reticle brightness. "Daytime visible" is a subjective term - I've had people say that the 2nd Gen Burris XTR is daytime visible and it is brighter than the 1st gen but it's still not useable in bright sunshine. As a former EOTech guy I like the circle/dot combo and the stadia looks great. Any guesses on final price and delivery dates?
  20. Nah, just gate-check your cart as a baby stroller (since that's what it's based on). And enjoy the look on people's faces when you show up w/ a stroller w/o a baby and tell them it's for your guns
  21. I bought an XTR/mount combo from LaRue in June of last year for $765 (This included a LaRue mount) and it was the Gen 2 model. The model number on the box was the same as my Gen 1. If they are planning to raise the price this year I think that would be a bad idea. This is a great scope for the current price. Idk if I would pay much more for it. With Meopta adding a BDC to their scope they have the $700 range well covered. The XTR illumination is still not as bright as the Meopta - I think Burris will struggle at that price point.
  22. LaRue has the XTR and mount combo for the correct price: http://stores.homestead.com/Laruetactical/Categories.bok?category=Optic+and+Mount+Combos%3ABurris
  23. But wouldn't it "shrink" the wrong way? You want the circle to be large at 1X to use it for rapid firing at close stuff. You don't need a precise aiming dot when at 1X. At 4X you don't need the circle you just need the dot. W/ an FFP reticle the circle (and dot) would be small at 1X and huge at 4X which seems like the opposite of what you'd want. I used an EOTech w/ 3X magnifier behind it for my first few matches before switching to the XTR. When I dropped the magnifier in for longer shots I was focused in on the center dot and putting that on target. I didn't even "see" the outer circle. I didn't find it cluttered at all. My point in my post to Erik is that if that outer circle is too small then it might start to intrude into my "focused" sight picture when at 4X and distract from putting the small dot on target. FWIW I like the size of the circle you added in post 225. But I'm new to the sport and I'm still trying to figure out what works best. That's why I'm here.
  24. I found the DMW site, thanks for the tip. How hard/easy is it to install the easy loader myself? I sent mine to Dave and had him install it (he charges $25 and that includes return shipping). As others have said, get a Nordic follower and tube and change your mag spring every year. Also keep it cleaned and lubed. I treat mine like my AR - I clean and oil it after every match.
  25. Aimpoints and EOTechs are known as reflex sights and the way they project the dot is different than in a scope (like a Meopta). The benefit of a reflex sight is unlimited eye relief, no exit pupil, no parallax, etc. With a Meopta (or Burris XTR, or Accupoint, etc) you will notice a bit of distortion at 1X vs the reflex sight as well as limited eye relief, exit pupil, etc even at 1X. On the plus side you'll be able to adjust the reticle focus to account for your shooting glasses. But in the end it sounds like a reflex sight won't work for you so I'd borrow someone's 1-4 and give it a run. My guess is it'll work fine.
