  1. Yep, I run my 1100 Tactical like I run my AR - wet, wet, wet! Wipe down everything mechanical (especially the piston area under the handguard) liberally with CLP. Never had a malfunction!
  2. I run an 18" JP ultralight and love it. However, when I bought mine in 2006 they didn't make a heat sink to fit the ultra-light so check if that's high on your list. Also, it does heat up and transfer a lot of heat to the handguard on long stages (40+ rounds). Doesn't seem to affect accuracy but as they say, there's no free lunch
  3. Yep, I use the 3-gun gear pouches on their T-rig which drops them onto my leg for both my .308 (DPMS mags) and AR (USGI). Different pouches obviously Now I wish they would make them for Saiga-12 mags!
  4. I use an EOTech 557 (has BDC) with a flip-mount EOTech 3X magnifier behind it. All of our local matches here are 200yds or less though I'm hoping to go to Mystery Mountain. But I believe that tops at at 350yds or so. 3X is fine for that and the setup works really well at the local matches. Though with an Aimpoint that has only a single dot I expect you'll struggle a bit with your holdovers once you get past 200yds. I'm waiting patiently for the rumored new and improved Burris XTR 1-4. It's nice have 4X at the longer matches.
  5. Dumb question but is the SJC legal for tactical? I assume it is but need to ask
  6. If you have a rifle with no evil features (U-15 or MMG) you can also borrow hi-cap mags from someone in your squad for the match. I have spares I'm willing to lend.
  7. There's an interactive tool here: http://calnra.com/cgi-bin/flowchart.cgi But yeah, hang out on calguns.net for awhile - we'll tell you everything you need to know As an example, here's my cali-legal competition rifle:
  8. Heh, yeah buddy of mine said there were over 35,000 people at the Tulsa gun show last Sunday. People are idiots. It will take a couple years before any bans take effect if they even do materialize (not to steer this to a political discussion but I hope the Dems learned their lesson from '94). Prices have jumped recently and people are just getting ripped off. Like gose said, wait till the Spring when everyone's broke and there will be deals aplenty. Also, this looks like a good time to sell any of that extra stuff you have laying around the safe. The frenzy is working on the private market too.
  9. If you already have an Aimpoint or EOTech the Aimpoint magnifier w/ the LaRue flip-mount is a great way to add long-range capability to your red-dot. However, most will say that if you're starting from scratch to go w/ the Meopta K-Dot or Burris 1-4. However, I can flip my magnifier in or out faster than you can change magnification on a Meopta.
  10. All, So I've been bitten by the .308 bug. I LOVE my JP-15 upper so I'm leaning towards a JP. Are they shipping and anyone know what lower they use? Being in Cali we have to deal with stupid "named receiver" ban lists. DPMS is on the list. But if JP has his own name stamped onto it I'm good to go. Else I could get a Fulton or POF lower and get a JP upper. Anyway, just curious if anyone has a JP - their website lists the "ar10" page as under construction.
  11. So is the K-Dot a "true" 1X like an aimpoint or EOTech? I'm talking no parallax, no exit pupil, inifite eye relief, etc. I see a lot of variable power scopes offering "true" 1X but I'm not sure what that means. When I look at K-Dot spec sheets it mentions eye relief but I would assume this if for magnified operation only? I was sold on one of the new Elcan Specter DR's until I was able to check one out in person and even in 1X it was still behaving like a "scope" w/ an exit pupil and all. I'm spoiled w/ my EOTech - maybe I should just hang a magnifier behind it on a flip-mount? Chris
