  1. I Iike the hornady, having to change collets is a pain but I like the fact that it uses a close fitting collet to grip the bullet.
  2. I voted delete entirely and bring back holster tests. However what I would prefer is just to delete the underlined section and bring back the jump off the box part of the holster test (ain't no way am I doing a flip.)
  3. I have one on a steel gripped sti framed gun with 2 barrel ports. 9mm major shooting 124 jhp Montana Gold over about 8 gr of Silhouette. Shoots flat and tracks straight not sure what else I could ask it to do. Are there others that are better, maybe? I've had guns that were maybe flatter but not enough to matter. It's like anything else, once you shoot it enough and get used to it, you can work with anything.
  4. Yea don't get me wrong. I agree the right tool for the job and all that. I wouldn't show up at a match like at frostproof with a M1 carbine either (which would also make pf?) . . But if you were going to a match that only had bay type stages out to a 100 yards or so why not? Like most things where Uspsa rules have some wiggle room in them (or seem to) if someone wanted to shoot a 9x19 rifle in a match, the best thing to do is contact NROI and see how they interpret Then make sure the MD agrees.
  5. If it meets the requirements for a rifle, and makes rifle minor, why not? (rifle minor used to be what 155pf? That shouldn't be too hard.)
  6. For a carbine i wouldn't mind one because the stock keeps you indexed behind the smaller window and the optic is closer to your eye than with a pistol which helps with the window size issue. I tried one in CO and didn't like it for the smaller window (which was made worse by having the optic at arms length) and also it seems to have more distortion around the edge of the lens than the delta point did (gave a wierd visual as you transitioned the gun from target to target. ). With a handgun anyway I was faster on the timer with the deltapoint than the rmr. For background I am a decent middle of the road open shooter normally.
  7. Yep those 90gr numbers looks about right from when I experimented with them when i had a 9x25 sti open gun gun (by then they had eatablished a minimum bullet weight so you couldn't shoot them in matches any more at major pf) Shooting 115s at about 180pf it was dead flat but with a 5 port comp it was so loud the ROs used to draw straws to see who had to run me.
  8. I have seen issues in some guns (tight/lightly sprung) where the barrel lockup difference between a hand cycled round and a round fired when the gun functions can cause the first shot not to group with the rest. Something you might try in addition to sages's suggestion is once you have fired a shot and the gun has cycled, gently pull the slide out of battery (without ejecting the round) and then gently ease it back into battery and fire the shot. See if the shot shows the same dispersion.
  9. Yep, that or the little teeth on the cup tip of the lock screw have gotten worn.
  10. Lahti L-39 20mm or maybe a Solothurn S-18/1000 (in the same caliber)
  11. Actually I think LaRue has the MBTs on sale for like $87 right now. https://www.larue.com/products/larue-tactical-mbt-2s-trigger/
  12. I think the ones with no color are either 6 or 8 (I forget... I think at some point someone on here had created a chart)
  13. Yep there is no substitute for this. Also you need to mix some live fire to start adding "seeing the dot" to "finding the dot".
  14. For my 9mm major open gun i use single headstamp brass (federal) . Since i use an upright mount it makes tuning the ejection easier as you aren't fighting variable rim dimension... Other than that i dont bother.
  15. Or if you don't want to grind and file... Bob sells ejectors that are pre prepped.
  16. Its hard to argue with an rpr... i think cdnn had them in 6mm creed for like 899. You could get the rifle and the scope for not that much over what you had budgeted for the rifle. If you don't like the stock there is space in your budget to swap it. There are other things about it you might change as you shoot it but for me that's part of the fun of it. The tika is also an awsome choice.
  17. Yep curved mags suck to reload... I used my hk94 carbine to shoot some pcc. With a fair bit of practice (and a fair number of years of shooting HKs) I eventually got the reloads to be smooth but it's harder than it needs to be.
  18. Yep sign me up for a couple. The EGW one is a lot better than nothing, but not close to as good as an ICE.
  19. Yep better off loading weak hand or 2s or 4s. However 12 sec for 6 shells is not quick for that technique. Back when people strong hand loaded from arm bands and side saddles I have seen my friend Jeff Cramblit strong hand load and get 8 loaded in the 8 sec range shot to shot.
