  1. I use a digital trigger scale - Lyman I think. I place the hook at the tip of the trigger pad. I would suggest changing a few items you are using. I much prefer the LWD connector or Glock over the Ghost. Use the stock trigger return spring. A lightweight Wolf for the striker spring. Moving the hole location on the pad and trigger bar will yield the most improvement.
  2. You are correct RickB. I don't see why this is so difficult for folks to understand. I guess they don't read the rule book.
  3. I can't believe this discussion has gone on for 4 pages. This is starting to sound like USPSA Range Lawyer talk. If you use a Barney mag just put one bullet in it then stick the darn thing in your pocket after you have topped off. Maybe my simple mind can't understand the IDPA rulle book. If I catch you going to a 4th mag you will get a Procedural. Better yet why not just hand the SO an extra full mag and tell him to keep it ready in case you need it. Make sure you wrap a $20 around it first. There is no "Oops Rule".
  4. My 1/7 20" A1 profile shoots 55 gr FMJ Hornady bullets sub MOA at 200 yds. Works well with 335 or 748 and Winchester primers. It is my go to gun. I have a 1/9 HBAR 20" that shoots equally well, but it sure is heavy. Both barrels have the same "cold barrel" POI as they do when hot.
  5. Our camera died. Should have a new one for Christmas.
  6. Hmmmm, I wonder where my SSP score went. I shot it in 49 and change.
  7. I use a 13 ISMI in my G35s and a 12 Wolf in my G34. The Wolf springs feel a lot better if you use a fat plastic guide rod.
  8. I always ear plugs when loading. Once the ringing (tinitus) starts it never goes away. My right ear has been ringing since 1969.
  9. Looks like I got 4th overall in CDP. Guess all the good shooters stayed home. I really tanked stage 2.
  10. I first noticed it while shooting Dave Sevigny's G21SF. I bought one but wound up selling it. It is hard enough dealing with a 1911/Glock grip angle. I did not need a third to deal with.
  11. BTDT with Titegroup. I shot it for years in 9mm, .40 and .45. I have since gone to Clays in .40 and .45. Solo 1000 for 9mm. TG is way too hot for lead/moly bullets.
  12. I may be wrong but it seems like a 1911 Commander spring will work. Can't remember where I saw that though. Wherever it was showed Wolf 1911 springs. Maybe for a different gun.
  13. I have won two M&Ps over the last year. Both were traded for Glocks. I may be the only one that does not like the available grip inserts for the M&P. None of the three feels right to me. I am not convinced that the MP is as durable as the Glock either - time will tell. I have worked on Glocks with over 500,000 rounds through them. If a Glock lasts that long as a rental gun then they must be durable. Looks like LWD may have the answer on the way for those that do not like the Glock grip angle. BTW I have been shooting my Kimber 9mm for the last couple of months. It seemed like I was shooting much better with it than my Glocks. I set up a fairly simple 16 round IDPA stage the other day just to see. I shot it 5 times each with the Kimber and G34. My times averaged 13.40 with the Kimber. I felt like I was blazing fast with the Kimber. I averaged over a second faster with the G34 even though I felt slower. When I reviewed each shot I could see where with every shot I gained a little time throughout the stage. I sold the Kimber this week.
  14. 14# - no buff. Think about the 1911 platform a minute. It was designed to run at a 190 PF with a 16# spring. A 14# spring with a 168-170 PF is not an issue. Don't forget to factor in the main spring weight.
  15. On a more serious note - my wife's shooting has improved greatly since I put her G34 in the safe and gave her a G17 with a plain black front sight. I find it a little easier to call my shots with a G34/35 than with a G17/22.
  16. I shoot either a G34 or G35 just because that's what the popular crowd shoots and I want to fit in.

    Barrels

There is no difference in quality. KKM just dips into your wallet more. I have a couple of LWD barrels that group better than I can shoot. Folks get hung up on trying for extreme accuracy. Have you taken a look at the size of the target we shoot? Please, no one is asking you to make head shots at 50 yds.
  18. I use 3.0 gr of Solo 1000 with a 160 gr LRN - OAL 1.200". 2.8 gr when loaded to 1.140". You will need 3.2 - 3.4 with a 147 @ 1.140".
  19. I just use Metalform 10 round 38 Super mags - way less than the Wilson mags. I load my 9mm out to 1.200" just like a .40.
  20. Or you could buy 4 Glock 35s for the same money.
  21. Well the Wilson's were a failure in my Kimber. Both mags would jam after a slide lock reload. Round was stuck half way up the ramp. Looks like they will be going back to Brownells. I really wanted these to work as they were really nice looking mags. I think the mag spring may be too strong. Most 9mm 1911 run with a 9-12 lb recoil spring. I use an 11 lb in mine. My Kimber works well with CMC 38 Super mags and Metalform 10 round 9mm mags.
  22. Some of the early designs had way too much leg tension. Later models corrected that issue. Too much drag on the slide is easily corrected. You can either slightly straighten the leg angle or remove a little material from the ear. Another issue with the first design was the lip was a tad too high. The striker would not release on a small percentage of Glocks. That was corrected by lowering the lip a bit. The worst offender of slide drag is the Ghost.
  23. I helped JR develop this connector. A lot of thought went into the design. It is not as simple as it appears. There are subtle differences in the lip angle, height and leg tension.
