  1. I guess I am just lucky. I have owned 10+ Kimbers. Never had a problem with any except the 9mm CST - bad barrel. I had a new barrel in my hands within 3 days after I called Dennis. He offered to fit it, but it was a lot less hassle to just fit it myself. I currently own 3 Kimbers - 2 .45 CST and the 9mm/.40 CST. They will all put 5 rounds inside a 2" Shoot-N-C at 25 yds. Personally I could care less how much or little a gun manufacturer supports the sport. I base my purchase on what gun I want.
  2. I don't see why you can't shoot that in SSP as you will be changing slide and barrel. You would not have to shoot ESP although you could. You can make the .40 shoot just as softly as the 9mm. Well almost - my 200 gr 9mm load is pretty soft.
  3. Sorry it took so long to answer. Titegroup works ok with Bearcreek. It does smoke a little. Nothing like regular lead bullets. You would probably not notice it in a match.
  4. I was referring to the longer distances - 10 yards or so. When I am covering that distance I know where my "plant foot" is going to be when I stop. We actually are timing the running or better said the distance covered between shooting. I want to get from P1 to P2 as fast as I can. My gun is already up when my plant foot hits it's mark. It is just easier for me to cover that distance with the gun in one hand. A step or two before P2 the gun is up in both hands.
  5. I certainly am not an expert on the subject, but I continue to hear folks say to run with your gun up. That really does not compute for me. I can run faster with the gun in one hand and use the other one for balance. I have plenty of time to get the gun up before I get to the next firing position.
  6. I don't see any reason not to use a 13# spring in your G19.
  7. And just what is wrong with a 230 gr bullet screaming along at 550 fps? Bottom line is if you have to cheat, by using a load that does not make PF, to win a $10 trophy then you have some serious personal problems.
  8. I too get weary of these "reality shows". They are always under some kind of deadline to get the project done. Most are pretty dumb. How did they get all of those guys to speak in that same stupid "sing song" way of talking.
  9. 3.5 gr of Titegroup or 3.0 gr of Clays.
  10. Guess no one looked at the date. A year ago I could buy bullets at that price.
  11. The logic applied by IDPA was a G22 or G35 was never offered in 9mm. Not enforce the rules???? Are you telling me you do not hand out a FTDR for dumping rounds either. The rules are what they are. We as MD's and SO's have to enforce them.
  12. Benny, how in the world did you, of all people, figure out that I like Glocks and Kimbers? OTOH I did build a STI 2011 last year just for grins. It managed to find it's way into a friends hands. He seems to like it. Guess my position on STI/SVI 2011 guns has not changed yet - overpriced. I am yet to figure out why a gun that sells for $1800+ has to be tuned before it is reliable or has a good trigger. Seems like for that kind of money it should be perfect right out of the box. It is part plactic you know. My carry gun is one of those cheap, plastic G23s. Everytime I pull the trigger I flinch waiting for it to ka-boom.
  13. It appears that IDPA has been dancing around the 9mm conversion barrel issue for some time. Guess they finally decided to take a stand. IMO IDPA needs to decide if ESP is going to be the "gamer" Division and allow more modifications or keep it in line with "real world" guns. A 9mm STI 2011 is not what I would consider a real carry gun. OTOH there are those that would say the same thing about my G34.
  14. I know this topic has been discussed before, but here is the "official" ruling from IDPA/Robert Ray. A 9mm conversion barrel installed in a G22 or G35 is NOT legal for ESP. Same would apply for a G20 and a .40 conversion barrel. I have also asked for a ruling on the "tri top" slides seen on some STI/SVI guns. IMO they should not be legal as the slide has been lightened.
  15. That brass is dangerous. Send it all to me. I will dispose of it properly.

    Glock Talk

I have been on GT since 1999. Here is my take on the two. The BE forum is more like the Corvette Forum. Everyone for the most part is pretty civil. We do have opinions, some of mine are pretty strong. Glock Talk is like the Mustang forum. Lots of rude uninformed folks. There are good folks on both forums. The BE forum appears to have more knowledgeable shooters. I suspect there is a much higher percentage of shooters that compete on this forum than on GT. The 1911 forum seems to be in the middle.
  17. There is no reason to use a U die for 9mm or .40. The regular Lee carbide sizing die works just fine. BTDT
  18. 3.0 gr of Clays with either a 230 or 200 SWC. 3.5 gr of Titegroup works well also. You will ask yourself "Did the gun go off". I use these same loads for IDPA ESP. Really makes the "Tactical Teds" squeal.
  19. I have owned just about every brand made. Here are the two that I have settled on as a "Best Buy". http://www.lapolicegear.com/holeimspelea.html http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item...u=00077PA0600CS
  20. I just went through a major leading issue with some Bear Creek moly coated bullets. They leaded in every 9mm barrel I had. Problem turned out to be a too small bullet diameter. They came in at .355-.356. BC sent me some sized to .357. No leading at all. Titegroup is not the best choice for lead or moly coated bullets IMO. I have switched over to Solo 1000. Well not exactly no lead. I did get just a trace with TG powder - none with Solo. Bear Creek replaced my original order at N/C.
  21. Here is one of the "standard" loads for IDPA - 3.0 gr of Titegroup with a 147 gr bullet OAL 1.140". A good practice load is 3.5 gr of TG with a 125 gr. TC lead bullet same OAL. Goes 1050 fps out of a G34.
