  1. Here's what works in my Kimber. 12.5 lb. recoil spring, 17 lb. main spring and a .200" Heitt buff. Not all 1911s can use a .200 buff. They come in .090", .120" and .200".

    Match Grade Barrel

My 34 shoots under 1" @ 25 yds. while my 35 groups under 1 1/2" @ 25 yds. Both are way better than I am. I even shoot (Gasp!) lead bullets for practice on occasion.
  3. I use 4.3 grs. of Titegroup with a 180 gr plated bullet loaded to 1.125". I get an average of 935 fps. out of a G35. I have to bump the charge to 4.6 grs. and 1.200" OAL in my Kimber .40. The 4.3 gr load is very easy on the brass. No "guppy belly" brass even with a stock Glock barrel.
  4. 2, if you use the search function you will find a good discussion of straight vs. variable.

    Glock 9x21

Carlos, I see the same thing in IDPA. CDP is a .45 only class now. I think I can make the 165 pf with my .40 Kimber. I seem to be able to do so in IPSC. I guess Bill Wilson does not offer a .40. As far as that goes I would shoot my Glock 35 in CDP if I could.

    Glock 9x21

Thanks Flex, I don't visit this section very often. I do think the BOD has a pretty weak argument about excluding the 9x19. As others have stated just limit the mag capacity to 20 then that issue goes away. I would like to see the 9x19 legal for Limited and Lim. 10. I think that would encourage people to use guns other than the 1911 platform. A Glock 34 making Major would be pretty neat. Equipment cost would certainly go down. I suspect you will see a nay vote from certain BOD members because of this. I guess I have struggled a bit with BOD members having vested interests. Kind of like a County Commissioner owning a construction company that is allowed to bid on projects. (Edited by Joe D at 8:22 am on Dec. 31, 2001)

    Glock 9x21

According to my rule book 9x19 is legal for a USPSA Open gun. I cannot find where it is prohibited from major. The other Divisions spell out that the min cal. is 10mm (.40) for major.
  8. Try 3.0 grs. of TG with a 147 gr. bullet. Easily makes the 125 pf with almost no recoil. I happen to like plated bullets.
  9. Chris, I heard we are having a Two Gun Match. I don't have a shotgun I can use. I quit shooting my trench gun a while back and can't justify the money to buy a speciality shotgun.
  10. Chris I will try to remember to bring my Glock so you can see the latest, but not the final, version trigger. I do not see the need to peen the rails. The proper way to peen them would be to use a spacer bar to prevent over peening. I tried reducing the width of the striker a while back, but really saw no reduction in pull or smoother operation. The greatest benefit is changing the profile of the trigger bar. My new trigger stop seems to be working well. I am not quite finished with what I hope to be the ultimate (at least for my feeble efforts) Glock trigger. Have had too many other guns to fix on my bench lately.
  11. Byron, sounds like a heavy spring has been masking a feed problem. A few things to check are magazine, extractor and breechface. I am assuming you have the correct OAL.
  12. I shoot a SA 9mm and a .40 Kimber in ESP. I think overall the Kimber is a slightly better gun. The 9mm on the other hand is very cheap to shoot. It is not quite as accurate as the Kimber ( 2" groups @ 25 yds vs. sub 1"), but good enough for IDPA. It is fun to shoot Lim. 10 Minor with it occasionally.

    Gaming

John, please forward me a check for $500 so I can enroll you in my Nov. class of Gamer 101. Included is a free catalog with all the latest gaming equipment for IDPA. I am working on a new boot with a funnel top to make those mag changes with retention sooo easy.

    Gaming

John, you will have to attend the IDPA gaming class first. IDPA gamers are slightly different than IPSC ones. I have some equipment you will need. Cable reel for your mags, springloaded vest for concealment, pants pocket extenders to catch the mags if the reel breaks.

    Gaming

Scooter, I shoot a .40 Kimber and a 9mm SA in ESP. Since all mags changes are done from cover, exception being the Classifier, I don't think it makes much difference. My Kimber holds 9, the SA 10. You have to load to the max on the first mag anyway. 9 +1 or 10 + 1. Not all stages are 18 rounds, some are as little as 6. Unlike IPSC one cannot leave partially loaded mags on the ground. Expending extra rounds down range just to get to slide lock can get you in trouble also.
  16. Dennis, be careful with some of the aftermarket triggers. The Lighting Strike trigger was pulled because it defeated the firing pin block.
  17. John, the caliber mininum is posted in the section that describes the various Classes. .40 is the minimum for major in Limited and Limited 10. Don't recall what it said for Open.

    Tungsten Guide Rods

One thing I don't like about the current crop of tungsten rods is they are undersize in diameter. The one I have only measures .243" in diameter and is 3.175" long. I plan on making one in the next day or two that will be .270" x 4". I think T.H.E. makes a longer one for the G34 & G35, but it has a small O.D. also.
