  1. I'm with Whiteboy - just shoot the gun as a .45. I get a chuckle out of those that spend hundreds of dollars just to get one more round in their .40 mag. They would be better served to buy more practice ammo. Having that one additional round is not going to make you a Grand Master.
  2. Lone Wolf has one. It is not for the ambi release though.
  3. If you must change your barrel go with the Lone Wolf. It costs about half as much as the other two.
  4. I have a drawer full of ruined trigger bars.
  5. Sell the Beretta and get a Glock On a more serious note Berettas seem to have more of an issue with heavy bullets than most guns. Maybe the barrel twist is wrong. I would try loading your 147s as long as possible. I shoot 160 gr bullets in my Glocks and Kimber without any problems. I use either Titegroup or Solo 1000. I could not get Clays to work with a 147 or 160 in any of my guns.
  6. Most folks shoot too close to cover. The further away from the wall/barrel you are the less likely you will get a call.
  7. I wil try to post some pictures this weekend showing the various pin locations. The location of the hole on the trigger bar is important. As I posted earlier, the new TBs require a slightly different location.
  8. The one connector I never use is the Ghost. I like either Glock, Scherer or LWD. It all depends on the feel you want. I find the Scherer to be a little more crisp than the Glock. Changing the location of the pin hole in the trigger pad will alter where the striker releases. Some folks with smaller hands like it to release at the very end of the travel. Others with larger hands like it to release in the middle. It all depends on where you put the hole. There is never any reason to use a heavy return spring.
  9. I find no reason to use a U die - BTDT. The regular Lee carbide works just as well. Glock has tightened up their .40 chambers a good bit over the last several years. You don't see that big guppy belly as often now. I case gauge for a big match, but not for a local. A stiff shot of Yukon Jack makes the vertigo vanish. Hmmmm did I remember to put any powder in that case or twice as much?
  10. Rob there is nothing to disagree about. When you design a stage you don't want enough targets, that are shot while moving in the open, to cause the shooter to run out of ammo with a full mag. I have seen stages with 5 targets that were to be shot on the move in the open.
  11. Reloads must start and finish from cover. In other words that slide must be forward before you leave cover. A properly designed stage will not allow a shooter to run out of ammo in the open.
  12. LL I am like you - I could care less about who "sponsors the sport". You are paying for that "sponsorship" everytime you purchase one of their guns. STI tacks on an additional percentage to the cost of their guns to cover that expense.
  13. I will look into the weight issue. I have been thinking about building a Caspian in .45 this winter. Got to have something to do when it turns cold and the snow drifts get above the roof.
  14. A word of caution. The Caspian in .45 might not make weight in ESP or CDP. Seems like I asked that question a couple of years ago on this Forum. I honestly don't recall the answer. I guess with a little trimming here and there you could. A regular plug instead of a full length GR would help.
  15. Larry, guess what I was looking at is the actual cost to manufacture the gun. BUL has the same manufacturing costs - polymer frame, slide, barrel and internal parts as STI yet the IPSC Model costs half as much as a STI Edge/Eagle. I have shot several STIs and a couple of BULs. I saw very little difference in quality and no difference in accuracy. I wish someone other than those "Shooting Experts" at Charles Daly would bring in the BUL guns. I recall a conversation with the BUL factory shooter several years ago about their IPSC model. Seems like it was Saul Kirsch. He told me the IPSC model should have a "street price" of under $900 in the US. That is about half of what the Edge/Eagle sells for.
  16. Stock spring is 17#. You can put any spring you choose into your Glock.
  17. I use 2.5 gr of Clays with a 180 BC bullet OAL is 1.140" - 728 fps. 2.8 with a 180 gr Precision jacketed bullet goes 726 fps. out of a G35 with stock barrel. On a side note my stock barrel requires more powder to make Major than my Lone Wolf barrel. Have not figured that one out yet. The 2.5 gr load my be pushing the bottom limit as far as case seal in the chamber. I have had a couple of "soft" discharges. The bottom limit with Titegroup was 3.2 gr. Anything below that would not always seal the chamber. I will most likely bump the 2.5 up to 2.6. Forgot to mention I use a 13# spring for Major and Minor.
  18. I have long held the position that STI/SVI guns are grossly overpriced. I realize that position is like slapping some of those that post on this forum mothers. I see many posts where a $1,800 STI needs a "tune up package" from various retailers before they are suitable for competition. What????? A gun that costs that much money should be perfect. I can purchase a Les Baer PII that is twice the gun quality wise for less money. How is it that a BUL M5 can be had for less that half the cost of a STI? There are those that think the Contingency Program is free. Every time you purchase a STI gun or part you are paying for the Contingency Program.
  19. I think of my Grandfather everyday. He too taught me how to shoot. I still have his guns. Here's a Yukon Jack salute to the generations that made our country great. I look at the last few, mine included, and see that those can't hold a candle to the great ones. The pain will linger, but the loss is temporary. One day the universe will be our playground. Guess that's why God made it so big.
  20. I think that is what I am going to do.
  21. Maybe it is just me but the grips did not feel right. I tried the medium and the large. Everytime I would draw the sights would be pointed either left or right. Guess I have been around Glocks too long. I am looking at a slightly used Pro tonight.
  22. Well we just won another M&P. We won one last year at the Alabama match and promptly traded it for a Glock. I am thinking about trading this one for the Pro model. How light can you get the trigger? I am a little spoiled by my 1 1/4 lb Glock triggers. I could live with a 2 lb. M&P trigger. Secondly can the slide stop be modified to where the slide goes forward when the mag is seated like a Glock?
  23. That I cannot answer. My brass does not sit around very long in a cleaned condition. I am working on my last 55 gal drum of 9mm brass. The Nufinish wax seems to last awhile though.
  24. If you toss in a little liquid car wax with your cleaning media you don't need One Shot.
