Viggen
IanLock, check out http://www.6mmbr.com/index.html Check out the Tech Articles, it has a lot about going long and reloading for going long. Also check out this article on windreading, 2 parts,: http://www.6mmbr.com/windreading.html I will dig around and edit in some other stuff in a while. smokshwn
Ian, With all due respect, if you did not find much of use to you on snipershide, I would suggest you spend a little more time searching or you may already have all the knowledge you need. I have found SH to be an excellent resource for long range precision shooting. With a little work you will often find easy to understand practical explanations of concepts and skills that other wise run many pages longer in a given "book" type manual. IanLock
Thanks for the input guys. I just didnt wana have to read, and try and learn all this stuff whist in front of a computer screen, i would really like to be able to buy a few books and read it at my leisure. may even take said book to range as reference material if needed. Im also just really intrested in the phyics behind it all, if that makes sence. Thanks folks Ian.
Viggen
There is a lot of fine material in this book. Scroll down a bit on the page and it's there. "Precision Shooting at 1,000 Yards" http://www.precisionshooting.com/books.html
Dan Sierpina
Precision Shooting magazine would be a good starting point. It's origins are benchrest, but, they have expanded into other disciplines. They used to offer a free issue for trial, I don't know if they still do. Bryan 45
Ultimate Sniper by Maj. John Plaster (RET). It goes into much more detail on actual sniping than I'm sure your interested in, but it covers long range shooting, gear, reading wind, everything.... I re-read the good parts about once a year, just to refresh my memory.
galt11
One of the best books out there about LR is Prone and Long Range Rifle Shooting. It is written by Nancy Tompkins. Here is a link to the site to purchase the book. http://www.rifleshootingbynancy.com/ Adam
rmfield
Sierra offers some very good material on exterior ballistics here. It is also in the back pages of their reloading manual. I would also recommend Handloading for Competition by Glen Zediker. Edited August 24, 2007 by rmfield
codyb
+1 for any of the Tubbs books all great info. Snipershide is an amazing source for info, but the search feature on the page has become finicky since the changes. It now requires a little more time to sort to the good info. midvalleyshooter
I am just checking out LR also. In addition to the suggestions made already, take a look at these sites: http://www.ltrdavid.net/ http://www.snipercountry.com/sniper.htm http://www.snipercountry.com/Articles/SacramentoSnipers.asp http://www.arcanamavens.com/LBSFiles/Shoot...t%20Reticle.htm http://www.long-range.com Good luck in your quest, K Edited September 3, 2007 by midvalleyshooter

Bret Heidkamp
Also check out www.precisionrifle.org if you ever get to this side of the pond and want to shoot a practical long range match. The forums have some posts on long range technique, but are having a tough time getting rolling. Not much traffic yet. I'm personally not too keen on snipers hide, too many posers! You can find some info there, but have to sift through a ton of fluff from the posers. Edited October 5, 2007 by Bret Heidkamp
ShooterSteve
Sinclair international also has a good list of long range accuracy reading.
sideshowbob
Midway currently has a sale on a couple of long range shooting books by Dave Brennan. I bought Precision shooting: a reloading guide, and precision shooting: at 1000 yards. I have not had a chance to read them in detail, but they seem to address your questions. JohnRodriguez
Best way to learn about long range shooting, is to get out and do it. I'm fortunate that I live 5 miles from a 1000 meter range that's used by our nantional guard. Use JBM ballistics calculator, just google it. The only thing you will need to do is know the real scope height, real velocity, not a guesstamet, and bullet make and weight. You can play with the altitude, angle, wind velocity. zero distance, etc. It's a lot cheaper to just punch the #'s in and see what effect they have on the bullet then buying a bunch of books.
