  1. Best thing I ever found for plate rack speed. Practicing snapping my eyes to the target first. Then bringing the rifle, as quickly as I could, without over swinging the the target (ie slowing down right before I would arrive at the target and then driving the sights on). I space out my target transitions far enough that my eyes have to leave my optic to find the next target. 100 a night for a month or so and my rifle just started to jump form target to target. I also found that just snapping my eyes from point to point helped my speed a bunch.
  2. Made some hanging stands for some of my steel (some 3/8" n some 1/2") that allow it to hang loose and deflect down. Used it for the last three weekends teaching a rifle course. Predominantly 223 but some 7.62 x 39 and a 308 shot as close as 15yds. 25 fellas hammering away. 308 broke a weld on the back of a target some nicks on the edges but no serious divots on anything else. Don't like hanging my targets on chain unless it is covered by the steel cause someone always shoots it. Made some angled posts for the bases. They worked flawlessly. I prefer the 3/8" targets in case you have to carry them up the hill.

  4. I had the same problem with mine when I dropped it on the JP (yellow spring) trigger. After speaking with Tom from TS I change out my hammer spring and it has run a 100% ever since.
  5. Greg a fe w questions Is the JT a true straigt in or do you still rock and lock the mag? Do the mags take any modification to work with the new magwell? Can you put weight on them (ie monopod or hold the mag like a grip) and still have it function reliably? Thanks Cody
  6. Haven't shot the DPMS or Ft Benning, but all the others multiple times and if I could have only one it would have to be the IRONMAN! Headin back for year 7 or is it 8?
  7. I agree I put aside other matches to shoot this one every year has to be in the top three. Cody

    260rem.

I second the H4350 it shoots well in my 260. I can only go about 42.2gr in mine that will chrono at 2810 fps with a 26" barrel and a surgeon action. Cody
  9. +1 for any of the Tubbs books all great info. Snipershide is an amazing source for info, but the search feature on the page has become finicky since the changes. It now requires a little more time to sort to the good info. Cody

    Bolt Gun

Midway, Brownells, and others sell the the HS Precision bottom metal with ten round mags for your rem 700. Some of the mor matches limit the number of rounds you can have in the mag to make it even for those without mags and even if they don't the normal string of fire is often few enough rounds (10 or less) that the benefit of the mag doesn't come into play. Cody
  11. One thing you did not mention.....is this shotgun for open? or tactical? The Saiga will put you in open right now. Yea I thought about it, I would prefer to stay in tactical for now. But it's not a big deal to me either way(still going to double my 3gun cost) I just want to find something to fit him well for now so he can grow his skill level. Cody
  12. I honestly do think that there is any magic in this, the lighter the gun the more you percieve the recoil. The 20ga 1100 is the softest shotgun I have shot, but it is also significantly heavier than the Saiga. Both of them feel much softer than the 12ga Benelli that I was shooting. I agree, and with the option of an adjustable stock on the Saiga (to adjust for his length of pull) it is something I will have to keep in mind.
  13. HSMITH I have a Gold 20ga that is an awesome gun. A good bit lighter than an 1100 20, and it runs incredibly well. Finding a stock to chop off might be a little harder, but I think the gun is well worth it. Where did you find a longer tube for it? L9X25 I also have a 20ga Saiga that is much shorter Sounds workable, but how is the recoil? I here that they are more stiff than my benelli m1. Tim thanks for the PM will contact you when I round up his gun. Thanks for the replys Cody
  14. Anyone out there using a 20gauge for 3 gunning. Looking for some options my son is 12 but small for his age and wants to start competing with me. So I have been considering an older rem 1100 with a wood stock so I could cut it down and give him the correct length of pull, but I'm not sure where to find a longer tube for a 20 gauge. I see rem also makes an 1187 in a youth model which would still leave me with the same problem as above (needing a longer tube). Any other options? Thanks Cody
  15. +1 on the 10x mine has always functioned well although the click on the elevation adjustment could be a little more solid, small complaint for a well built scope. Cody
  16. I picked up a JP upper with all the goodies in it 2 years ago. My feeling is that it was well worth the price, it has functioned flawlessly and recoil with the system is nothing, double taps at a distance became easy for me. Now I'm thinking I'll sell it and buy the complete rifle. Cody
  17. I'm gonna give it a try this year, at least offically. I shot trooper my first year at the mgm just cause I didn't know any other way it was my first three gun and I had no idea what to expect. So this should be better as long as I don't get carried away with what I "might need". Cody
  18. [/b]The only mod it needs for open division is a red dot sight IMHO What about staying with the irons, which ones work the best, will it still be considered usable for tactical class?
  19. So where is the best place to pick up a new Saiga 12, 10 round mag, and what are the useful conversions? I read that the bolt will now stay open on an empty mag? True or is that a mod also. Cody
  20. Another question, should I be looking for a remi with a detachable magazine or is that something that I can easily (and affordably) modify on my own later? Don't get Remmy's DM it doesn't function reliably and in most MOR matches it is not that much of an advantage. If you decidede you just have to have one later Badger Ordinance make bottom metal that will work with the AI mags.
  21. Was cleaning out my rem 1100 cm this am and cut my finger inside the Receiver Assembly while wiping it out. I notice that around the rail or groves where the link sits there was a fair amount of wear on the Receiver Assembly. I was just curious as the how many rounds I should expect out of a well cared for Remmy? Cody
  22. I don't know about a name or who else is using it but I reload at just under a second per round using the slide and I can surely see room for improvment. Cody
  23. I switched followers to the #6 and all seems to be well thanks for the advice. Cody
  24. I also have a 9 round 3gungear on my M1 and it cycles everything I put in it no problem. Cody
