The time is near at hand which must determine whether Americans are to be free men or slaves. ~ George Washington

The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles. —Jeff Cooper, The Art of the Rifle

My Dad told me these, but I found later that he was quoting someone else that I can't remember:

1.) No matter how much they tell you, they're not telling you everything.

2.) No matter what they are talking about, they're talking about money.

Ok, if we are going to quote Dad here are my favorites.

"You can never succed if you are afraid to fail"

"Let your head help your back"

"Anything you need to learn can also be found in a book"

"You can learn something from everyone you meet"

and the one he must have said to me a million, billion times

"You have two ears, two eyes and one mouth you should do twice as much looking and listening as you do talking"

"Donde te ves, me vi.

Donde me ves, te verás."

My mom and dad used to tell us this a lot. When I became a dad myself, I asked him where did he get it from. "From a headstone at the entrance of the municipal cemetery", he said. Funny, I thought. It was even funnier when I saw the headstone myself.

Translation:

"Where you see yourself, I once saw myself.

Where you see me, you will see yourself."
