It’s good if that the only issue.
you can do a bunch of different things to tune the way your safety feels.
really anxious for the carry and optics ready models.

I'll try to shoot it this weekend and see if there are any other problems but hopefully there won't be.  I did email Dan Wesson asking them what their thoughts were and what my options are so we'll see what they say.

I think my Kimber thumb safety has just spoiled me as it's perfect.

I'd be surprised if DW didn't have you send it in for them to make right but I guess we'll see. Nothing should be spongy on a gun that spendy.   Good luck. Let us know what happens.

I'm hoping they'll let me send it back as I agree wholeheartedly since this is my most expensive handgun by far.  The Kimber held that title previously but it was barely $1000 back in 2007.

I'll keep everyone apprised.  Hopefully I'll hear something from them before the weekend.  I'm not horribly picky, however, it'd be way too easy to accidently engage the safety the way it is currently.  I wouldn't trust myself to use it as a nightstand gun because of that at this time.

Just go ahead and fill out the warranty request form to get the ball rolling.

When shooting, it should be impossible to engage the safety if your thumb is sitting on top of it

I just filled it out and submitted it...thanks!

I really don't like complaining about things, however, it just doesn't seem right when compared to all of the 1911's I've handled in the past and still own.

That's true, however, it still doesn't seem right given my prior 1911 experience and the price point of this gun.  Hopefully they'll get it sorted out for me.

It's my first modern Dan Wesson, however, I definitely want to grab the 40 S&W version when it's released...and maybe even a compact 🙂

If you remove the safety, you can file base material off the side to get it closer to the frame.  This should engage the pin better.

Your call to send it back, but it would probably take you 10 - 15 mins to fix it on your own.

I think I’ll send it in as I don’t want to mess up a brand new $2K+ gun.

I’ll build AR’s and the like but this is outside of my comfort zone.

I just installed the lok ultralight thin grips and with an empty mag it brings the weight down to 43.4oz with a empty mag.  Needs to lose a bit more weight to make it IDPA ESP legal.  The gun shoots great and I'm very happy with it.

If you get it milled for a red dot you just might make it?

The guys finished up playing with one of our DWX guns so we could pack it up and take it to SHOT Show.

Starting to see what can be added to such a fun platform.

Did some slide lightening. sorry, didnt weigh it.

Cut a comp into the thicker part of the barrel to actually get a chamber and not just holes in the barrel. works really well.

Cut for the SRO.

Made a magwell that blends better than the CZ factory well does.

Drilled and tapped mag release for paddle

Installed a new hammer and did trigger job, set at 2# right now.

No pricing on the work yet.

But if in Vegas, come on by the CZ Custom booth and check it out.

Thought it was a Novak cut
