  1. I'm currently using an 8lb wolff commander spring in my 4.25 prodigy and 135 power factor loads. With my loads and the 10 lb, the brass just trickled out of the gun. I really like the recoil impluse and can track the dot very well.
  2. I replaced mine with a Novak cut Dawson. Only took minimal fitting.
  3. Shot my first match with my optic mounted DWX. Used the W74 tungsten rod with a 10 lb Cajun recoil spring, running 135 ish power factor 147 grain. I have been shooting A01 sds for a while. I have to say that the DWX is by far my favorite gun to shoot. Very soft, good transitions, points well. I need to trust myself. I took several extra shots at the match, and I found 3 hits on the targets all but 1 time. Very forgiving. CZC did a great job with the trigger and the optic mounting. Like the Floyds magwell. It worked pretty well with the short Lok Bogies. It ran 100 percent, which is impressive as the range I was at had put sand in the bays to reduce ricochets. I never cleaned a mag, and used the same 4 throughout the match. I really like the A01s, but love the DWX. I spent a lot of time on 1911s and 2011s in my youth, so this feels very natural, but with better reliability. When I was sighting it in, I was getting some pretty impressive groups too. Next time I'm at the bench, I'll see if I can replicate them and take some pics.
  4. I like the Floyds myself. I have a W74 tungsten rod/stainless rod. It only has a tungsten insert so it's like 1.5 ounces. I haven't shot much side by side with stock yet, but I'll post when I do so.
  5. Mine was not recoated after optic cut. The SRO fits the cut snuggly and no steel is visible.
  6. That quote was from Stuart. If Stuart says it's stainless, It's Stainless. I don't believe it's cerakote either. I think it's a black nitride.
  7. Lok mags the aluminum and brass magwell and matching grips that fit.
  8. I’m using czc basepads and there seems to be plenty of space in the Floyd’s magwell. So I’m guessing yes but don’t know for sure
  9. It’s the Floyd’s TS version. Fit on perfect pretty close to factory magwell bevel.
  10. Well over 1000 rounds on mine. Absolutely no issues. Everyone that has tried it loves it. My only issue is that while it's a great gun, it doesn't, for me, have any place in competition. However, with the provisional Limited Optics in USPSA starting in March, I'm going to redo the trigger, and have it milled for optics.
  11. I put a Dawson .090 front sight on today. Novak cut. Required a fair amount of fitting. The stock sight seemed to be fit very well. The sight picture, for me, is greatly improved. I also changed the sear spring out. Got the trigger to 3.5 lbs. the only complaint I have is the fact that the beaver tail is fixed and the hammer/sear are in a sub assemble make it a bit harder to adjust the sear spring.
  12. That’s standard Novak right? I bought a couple of Dawson Novak cut sights. I didn’t think they looked right. Might just need some fitting
  13. Does anyone know what the front sight dovetail cut is. I want a narrower sight but not sure what, if any, of the standard cuts it is.
  14. I shot again today. I’ve got a total of 500 rounds through it. With only the two failures to go into battery early on. Many runs through the 140 mm cz custom mag extension with no issues. I benched it today. a friend of mine asked if you need to short load ammo as with czs. I loaded some 147 sns flat points to 1.55 and they ran like a champ. No issues and easily extracted by handMy eyes still had issues with the sights but my best 5 shot groups were 2 inches and one with 4 shots in an inch and the fifth made it 2”. Worst group was 4”. Which was most likely my error. I’ll be switching to a .100 front and red optic as I’m wearing hunter hd glasses and the green fiber optic outdoors is too bright. The recoil spring is heavy. Even for factory ammo. It cycles but empties are not flung very far. The rear sight adjustment screw does not move the sight much with each click. Not an issue as there was plenty of elevation available to get it near point of impact. The gun flat runs and shoots well. I’ll be switching hammer spring to a lighter one and adjusting sear spring to lighten the trigger a bit. And getting a lighter recoil spring as soon as I can figure out what it takes. . i feel it’s a nicely made machine well worth the money.
  15. I shot my dwx today. I think I’m total I put between 200 and 250 rounds through it. My standard reload of a 147 sns flat point loaded with 3.2 g vvn320 shot perfect. And as soft as pretty much anything I own. And I’ve got an a 01ld and two sds. Maybe if I shot them side by side the ld would feel softer. But not by much. Out of the box it shot 6 clicks or so low at 25 yards and is shooting about 3-4 inches left so needs drifted. I was shooting off hand at a poorly indoor range. The lighting definitely didn’t help anything. But my best group at 25 yards was about 4 inches. Which is about as good as I can shoot any iron sight group. It tracked nicely. 10 yards as fast as allowed to shoot indoors resulted in a palm sized group. the very first round I put in the gun seemed tight in the chamber. But all fired and extracted fine. the trigger is breaking at 4 1/4 lbs. most of my target/ competition guns run 2-2.5 lbs. but I really didn’t notice the increase weight slow fire. I ran 50 rounds of some crap the range had loaded with the two piece nas3 shelshok case. I have never shot these through anything. I had two failure to go into battery in the first mag of this ammo. No other issues following. I ran the two stock mags and 4 or 5 full mags through a p10 mag with a czc 140 mm pad with a grams spring and follower for 23+1. Ran perfectly. I showed it to the staff. They absolutely loved it. I also took it to TK Custom to show my old friend and master gunsmith Tom Kilhoufer, Eli Johnson and their assisting gunsmith. They all loved it. These guys live in the revolver world but they may be unknown to many but are top notch smiths, Tom with 50 plus years of knowledge. They have many patented parts, top notch machinery and know their s#!t. They thought it was worth every penny. I will probably changed the front sight to a Dawson .100 to allow a little more space/ light around the sight. I tried to nit pick this gun. The only real gripe was sometimes it felt just a little hard to put the safety on. A little. But it came off like it should. I have pictures of some of my groups which honestly suffer from my 53 year old eyes and poor lighting. I’ll post these at a later time. i can’t find much if anything really wrong with this gun. The stock grips even feel great. That one thing I usually change out immediately on most guns. So. Im keeping this gun. It’s going to be logged out to me.
  16. I’ve never done a video review. I’ll be shooting indoors and I don’t think they’ll allow video. But I’ll do what I can.
  17. I wasn’t going to keep this. I have so many 9mm pistols. But after handling it I changed my mind.
  18. There is a little play in the slide. Not as tight as a custom 2011. It isn't excessive, and barrel still locks up tight.
  19. Still have not shot mine. Damn life gets in the way. Hopefully tomorrow. I did measure trigger pull at 4lbs 4 ounces. Took the slide off. Machine work looks excellent.
  20. Thanks. I wrote one on the a01 when it came out. I’ll post my shooting impressions after I’ve put some rounds down range. I need to go to the indoor range as I live in Illinois and windchills have been in the negative 30s plus.
  21. So. I’ve got one. I got it Thursday. My initial impressions: it feels really really good in my hand. Like really good. Better than my a01s, shadow 2, spo1 shadow. Better than all my other czs. Trigger is crisp with no overtravel but a little heavier than I prefer. Maybe 4.5 lbs. I haven’t weighed it yet. Slide to frame has a little play but not excessive. Maybe a little more than I’d expect in this price range. Barrel fit is very good. The crown is crazy good. Major inverse come crown. Controls are what you’d expect from a 1911. It feels heavy but balances nicely and point like it should. Sights are good. I’m a ffl so I bought thinking I’d sell it. I doubt it at this point. Going to try to shoot it Monday. So far I like it better than expected.

    AO1 LD Review

I get 23 reloadable with CZC pads and grams guts, which I also got from CZC.
  23. So I picked up a new Wilson 92 G brigadier last saturday. I've never owned a Beretta, and am a big CZ fan/owner/shooter. The trigger seems really smooth, reset is good, and SA breaks clean. I am fairly impressed with this. Is there anything I should do to it. I understand that Wilson installs the D spring but they include a second spring with it. Is this a stock spring? Or is it a lighter weight? I ordered a 12 and 13 lb hammer spring. Anything else I should look into? Thanks
