Calls Shots (8/11)

  1. New goal- GM by July. We'll see how it goes. I haven't focused on classifiers in a good bit. Going back to basics in dry fire and trying to do "good" again. My current average is 89%.
  2. I don't notice it shooting a shadow 2. I spent a lot of time on the DA shot when I first started shooting and now it doesn't matter. 3 yards or 25 the trigger pull is the same. If it's a bad shot I'm calling it that way and making it up.
  3. Yes I turn 40 this year and try to workout at least 5 days a week. I was doing 2 a days for about a year but since then my time management has suffered after having 2 kids. I need to lock it in and get back on track myself. I frequently shoot with a guy nearly half my age who constantly complains about “being exhausted” and having trouble focusing towards the end of a match. That’s super alarming to me and I generally blame it on poor lifestyle choices. I try and harp on him as much as I think he can tolerate or he’s going to be in bad shape by the time he gets to my age. If you can shoot once or twice a week you should be able to workout 3-4 times a week at home for 30 minutes pretty easily.
  4. For those posting about being tired after a match I’d love to hear what your physical fitness routine is. How many times a week do you workout, for how long, and what do you do for workouts?
  5. There’s no way that’s the norm around here! Maybe 200 yards max per stage. Standing around shouldn’t make you tired either. There’s an epidemic in this country and it isn’t/wasn’t covid. I wish more people invested as much time into their gun setup as they do their personal health.
  6. I routinely hear dudes in their 20's/30's at local matches complaining about being tired after a match consisting of less than two minutes of actual physical exertion. Sad.
  7. Based on the latest USPSA magazine, there's not nearly enough physicality in this sport. I think that applies to society in general though.
  8. Forum rules say I can request account deletion. It’s under the privacy/security portion of account settings. Which is it are we following forum rules or not?
  9. I requested deletion of my account. This will be my last post here.
  10. Seems like bad advice I also once followed. The real solution is to be confident in your shot calling. There WILL be situations where if your engagement order is in a way that you won’t shoot steel last you will be leaving time on the table.
  11. Why would you zero at 50 yards for USPSA?! What's your POA at 3 yards then? Open shooter? I zero at 15 yards and don't have to worry about any shift in POA/POI out to at least 25 yards. In 60 matches last year I don't think a single one had targets past 25 yards.
  12. HSL recently raised their prices but it's better quality and still cheaper.
  13. IME supervel is pretty terrible. I know I’ll probably get flamed for that but I’ve seen multiple people have issues with their ammo locally. Either it won’t gauge, has bullet setback, or people saying they have to modify their guns (HD extractor springs) to make it run reliably. There’s better options for better prices for remanufactured ammo. I use an 11.5 spring and so far haven’t had any issues with Federal, Winchester, CCI, or Fiocchi.
  14. If you’re moving your hands aggressively enough slapping for reloads you’re going to lose mags.
  15. Preferably no! I’m looking for something more like these- https://shootsteel.com/product/3-8-steel-target-16-static-popper/ That price isn’t too bad either. Anyone here using them?
