GreenDragoon
Good morning. I'm just curious as to the question. I've been shooting 1911's for decades so I've grown accustomed to them. I just put the beaver tail back strap on my 34 last night. I'll shoot her today.

2MoreChains
^me too. The beaver tail is the reason I got a Gen 4. Otherwise I bleed.
nwhpfan
I use the beaver tail. I think it helps me get a more consistent grip.

HOGRIDER
Same here........my early 1911 days taught me a quick lesson on the necessity of a beavertail. G34, G17, and G19 all have the medium back strap/beavertail or I get slide bite!
S&W686
So far I have not used the beaver tail. I like the standard grip of the gun.
GreenDragoon
thanks for responding gentlemen. I shot a casual, steel match yesterday. I do indeed like the beaver tail. I've never had bite from my guns, inspite of choking up as high as possible. The beaver tail does seem to aid (a bit) in recoil control though. Since I'm used to them from 1911's, I'll keep it on. I did not shoot Glocks prior to the Gen 4 for this reason. I use the medium backstrap. Tried the large, but did not shoot as well with it.Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk

jbultman
Well, I'm kinda in the same boat. I do use the medium backstrap on the 34. However with that said I do still get slide bite because I hold up so high on the gun. But nothing compared to shooting a glock w/o a beavertail! splashdown
I would if I had Gen4 Glocks. They feel good with the med beavertail backstrap.

Bidah
I am currently running a medium beavertail one; used to run the large when I first came over from another very large gun. I can run it without any backstrap ok, but it sure does seem small. If I run just the medium or large (no beavertail), I get bit pretty good. dohboy
Gen4 G34, medium beavertail, feels great to me.
ShanePennington
I need to try the medium I guess. I've been runningt the large beavertail and love it. I shoot my 34 for production/3gun, but also shoot a 2011 in limited so I really like the beavertail.
wtturn
I used the large beavertail for several months but switched to the plain large strap so I could get higher up on the gun.
RePete
I shoot a Gen 3 34, but I got to try a Gen 4 34 with the BT and I didn't like the way it felt. Each to their own.
