Nealio
So having slide ports/cuts is ok, but a little dust on your mag is a beg deal?
praetorian97
Slide ports allow dust in different areas. Never had issues with dirt affecting the slide operation but I have had my fair share of feed and mag release issues on the dustier ranges. A1 wind/dust in Washington last year was so bad we were bagging the gun on each stage.
WJM
I clean my mags on every single stage I shoot. Where I shoot the dust is so bad and the wind is so bad I have actually had to clean my gun after a few stages because it just cakes on the gun. I also had to clean my holster every match. Dust catches in there causes my gun to scratch. Wyatt
EngineerEli
Maybe you're running your gun just a little too wet?
WJM
I like em wet... But that isn't it. With the Tanfo I dry off the gun after I clean it. There is more dust here than anywhere. Plus my practice is in the desert. Basically bombing ranges. More sand and dust out here. Will test out 3 gun equipment well though. Wyatt

racingjoe27
Everyone should use grease anyway I thought the consensus was Mobil 1 motor oil?
Nealio
Everyone has their own special sauce, but from an engineering standpoint grease is a much better lubricant for this application. Also it collects less dirt/soot and stays on the gun longer. I only lube my gun every 2000 rounds. Lubriplate SFL-1 or SFL-0 are both amazing. It was designed for use on food machinery, which run in extreme temperatures (cold and hot) but its works so good on firearms they sell it on Midway as "gun grease" http://www.midwayusa.com/product/379954/lubriplate-sfl-0-gun-grease-14-oz-can?cm_mmc=pf_ci_google-_-pf_ci_google-_-pf_ci_google-_-pf_ci_google&gclid=COijjITDhcYCFRSIfgodfYIADg Edited June 10, 2015 by Nealio
praetorian97
^^^ What Nealio said. I was skeptical at first but when I started shooting 2000 rounds a month I was sold. Even though its rated for cold weather (30 degrees) I wont run it then though. I go with oil or I sit on the couch and watch netflix =)
Nealio
^^^ What Nealio said. I was skeptical at first but when I started shooting 2000 rounds a month I was sold. Even though its rated for cold weather (30 degrees) I wont run it then though. I go with oil or I sit on the couch and watch netflix =) It runs fine (and I've tested it) in as cold as -10 degrees F. My buddy even buried his Tanfoglio in snow for 30 minutes (with this grease on it), pulled it out, dumped 2 mags with no issues to prove to this Glock guy that Tanfoglio's run fine in the cold. BeerBaron
Beer. This is what very little data I was able to collect the other day b4 it was just too dark to do anything. 5 shot strings. 3 of 5 recorded for most. 124 xtreme cci #400 Hs-7 9.0g avg 1319 pf 163.5 Hs-7 9.5g avg 1339 pf 166 Hs-7 10g avg 1438 pf 178 WAC 124 CCI 400SRP 6.5g avg 1283 pf 159 7g. Avg 1324 pf 164 7.5g avg 1453 pf 180 3n38 115 cci 400 srp 10.0g avg 1482 pf 171 10.5g avg 1566 pf 180 I could back it down to the 10.2 level. I want to load some up around 10.0 and see how it runs vs the 10.5 When I loaded 10.5 I thought 10g wouldn't cycle with a 10lb spring. I thought I had a 10lb spring in. I didnt... It was the spring that was in the gun when I got it 3rd or 4th hand. So I'm thinking around 15lb. So only really high pf loads would cycle it at all. Now that I have a 10lb spring as well as the 8lb spring I will load and chrono some lighter loads and see how they shoot. Compare springs as well. Go from there. I think 10.2 with the 124gn pills should be a good load. I've found the V8 and V12 tanfogs seem to like a spring between 10 and 12lb.
Open1215
It did seem to like the 10lb for the stout loads. Every bit as flat but less "jitter" I just sent it back to get a 2 3/16th inch poppet holes added. Something like this :-) I will re chrono my loads when it returns. I am excited. hercster
Everyone should use grease anyway I'm with you Mr. Neal based on just one simple to observe fact and that's the ability of grease to stay where you put it. I think Slide Glide does a great job at doing exactly that. Because I'm one of those people who likes cleaning guns, I don't need long-term staying power so I use Frog Lube because it cleans up nicely and since I live in an RV, Froglube doesn't have any sort of smell that will irritate local management. I have some but not a lot of knowledge of lubrication technology, so to me because firearms are not terribly demanding lubrication wise, my choices boil down to relative cleanliness, the ability of the lube to stay on the job and not getting yelled at :-). ChrisBarger
I am looking to buy a Tanfoglio Witness Limited or Elite (full dust cover) in 9mm. Need as big a capacity as I can get. Anyone know where I can get one?
Open1215
Lim pro's pop up on Gunbroker 2nd hand now and them in 9mm. So do limited elite. If you are in the usa and a non restricted mag state it shouldn't be to hard to pick up a lim pro for under a grand and a lim elite for just over. What are you planning on shooting with it? Any competition or just for fun? Lim pro will give you a sa/da trigger and a non cone barrel lim elite gives you a full dust cover, sa only triger, cone (heavy barrel) as well as a drilled and tapped frame, magwell and all the grips, base pads that go with the magwell guns. Open1215
I read limited or elite (full dust cover. I assume that he specifically mentioned the dust cover to distinguish the two he was looking at.
BeerBaron
I think the 3 holes at 12 o'clock will be a great setup with that comp. Its what I'd do if I was doing a custom setup on an open tanfog.
