BB,

How did you get these grips mate? I spoke to Nathan and he said he couldn't ship to Oz?

Jase

with his little CZ buddy:

The CZ is a shadow orange/2012 with some mods too.

CZ 85C old style trigger

CZ race hammer

CZ 11lb hammer spring

CZ 10lb recoil spring

CZ pre-b short reset disconector

CZ steel guide rod

henning grip screws

CZ 1mm fibre front sight

CZ extended firing pin

CZ Rami firing pin spring

CZ light trigger spring

Some minor de-burring. I shoot IPSC rules with that CZ so it has to have an IPSC legal mod list.

Arkadi, the way you have your Limited set up with the optic is exactly what I plan to do with an Elite Limited, once I save up enough. Can you describe the characteristics of shooting the pistol with optic but without ports/comp? What caliber is it? Do you have any other plans for modifications?

The Limited Custom is 9x19 HC large frame. The plan is to obtain a 6" barrel to put a comp on it for Major. But still have an option to shoot Minor for Steel Challenge and IPSC.

Currently, it's a practice gun. Red dot relieves me from iron sights to put more attention into trigger control, etc.

I do drills with red dot, then I pick I up the Stock III and there are quality improvements that would be longer to reach - more time, more ammo by using Production gun alone. Removes some psychological barriers. Helped me with faster splits, shooting close targets <7m with no aiming at all, start shooting as soon as gun is presented and sight picture is barely acquired, shooting while walking.

Great investment and fun - all I need is to move the dot and pull the trigger. :)

Red dot parallax-free design make it possible to shoot without centering the dot.

Given all the above, I'm a fairly modest shooter, relatively a beginner.

Awesome, thanks for the info! Does anyone know how difficult it would be to acquire a complete Open top-end assembly for the Limited?

The current Gold Team is 1/4" shorter than the Limited, so unless you cut back the dust cover it looks like this:

Luckily a chop saw makes quick work of a dust cover ;)

When the gun cycles, the barrel moves back relative to the frame ~7mm so in the case of Garmil's setup the comp would impact the frame, but the Tanfoglio factory comps are designed to work with full dust cover frames, so they clear the frame rails. I shot the gun above like it is without issue, it just wears on the sides of the comp a little and looks a little off. More than anything I prefer short dust covers on my Open guns to cut down on the weight; the all steel guns like CZs and Tanfoglios get pretty heavy once you add a dot and comp (especially the CZ which uses a steel comp as opposed to the aluminum one on the Tanfoglios).

Limited guns use the weight of the gun to mitigate recoil and muzzle flip, but in Open guns that's the job of the compensator, so the extra weight just slows you down in transition. There are some who like a heavy Open gun (50+oz), but I prefer them in the low 40oz range.
