Velocities with 18" barrels

I have a 18inch bbl but different ammo gets you didn't things. I handload my match ammo and get about 2600fps with a 77gr MatchKing. Load Data for reloading says the FPS but they usually use a 20-24inch bbl so it hard to guess where you might be.....just have to shoot it and see :)

Last fall I shot the same load out of both my 16" and my 24" across my chrono. Memory serves it averaged about 350 fps difference.

I believe it was a combination of factors like the 8" of extra length, the 1-7 twist to a 1-9 twist, the 5.56 chamber to a Wylde chamber.

For those that have 18" barrels. What velocities are you getting and with what bullets. I'm anxiously awaiting my next rifle to come in and am playing around with jbm calc to see what my drops are.

Thanks

Here is my log book with my 18 inch Rogue Hunter from Noveske.

Black Hills 69gr SMK, 20" JP/CTR-02 = 2797 fps

Exactly the same ammo, 18" JP/CTR-02 = 2732 fps

(same ammo, same place, same day, same lighting.... only difference was the rifle, and those are the same except for the barrel...)
