  1. It might help their recruitment if the US government would not prosecute and jail border patrol agents when requested to do so by the Mexican government. This is happening again. This time to a Naco, AZ agent. I believe he has a better team of lawyers than Ramos and Compean did. Still not looking good though.
  2. I've got an 03 Duramax, extended cab short bed 4X4. I usually get around 21mpg. I love the truck! cruising at highway speeds, truck never comes out of fifth. when you get to hills you can feel the truck reach down and grab a pair and motor right on up the hill. The later model 07's now have 360hp and a six speed allison. Even more power!!! As far as maintenance goes: Diesel grade oil is about $10.00 a gallon and the truck takes 2.5 Gallons. Fuel filter replacement is scheduled for 15,000mi intervals and is easy to do. fuel filters run about $25.00. No spark plugs or plug wires to worry about. Diesels average about 25% better gas milage than gas. (Don't know about the current technology gas motors). the motor is easy to hotrod should you desire to do so, just a plug and play unit and you can easily embarrass the little rice rockets with the fart cans on the exhaust. Downsides: Diesel prices around 10 to 20 cents higher than gas Normally it is that amount cheaper. I would give the Duramax/Alliison combo some serious consideration. Edited to add: I know their used to be some pretty good tax incentives in buying a 3/4 ton truck if you are a small business owner.
  3. Ted Airline, part of UniTED. Which is part of their cabin brief if I remember correctly. Ted was created as competition to the other low cost air carriers. (Remember Shuttle by United, which was supposed to take business from Southwest.) Ted is still United Airlines and the aircraft are still maintained by United Airline mechanics (for the most part, but don't get me started on that subject!) The aircraft are primarily A320's and 737's. So, no worries! You will still have the same crappy UAL customer service
  4. I seem to recollect that you guys shoot on the second Sat. of the month. Will this be the same?
  5. I drive 100 miles one way to get to the "local club", which shoots IPSC twice a month. Every now and then when I feel the need for a few extra matches a month, it becomes a 225 mile one way trip to get to another club.
  6. That is pretty much it in a nutshell. Scirocco, I was hearing those exact sentiments from the locals in the late 80's, while stationed in Germany. 20 years later, the only thing that has changed is that Ecclestone's power is more absolute.
  7. Which is exactly the way it went. I had no intention nor had I even visualized a mag change at that spot, but there I was wondering why I hit the mag release after four shots and I am trying to stuff in a mag while looking at my next array of targets.
  8. Hard Chrome rather than bumper chrome???? Seriously though, It is very nicely done. Hope to see it this Sun.
  9. Jim, We were squadded together in Montana. I don't believe you saw it, but I did this on two different stages with ten round magazines no less!!! One of these days I'll get my head out of my fourth point of contact for an entire match!
  10. Ecclestone is a major PITA in F1. When I was stationed overseas, I used to enjoy going to one or two races a year as they were semi-affordable. My last trip to Germany coincided with the German GP, however, the tickets were so outrageously expensive I could not justify going. I have not paid attention to the sport for a great while. I believe he is still the sole owner of F1.

I've got lots of time in a number of types as a mechanic, but this is my current project! And I finally figured out how to insert the pic as my avatar!!
  12. I don't either.. Don't let Jasmap fool you. He'll probably walk away with the pot!

    Stupid joke on

Two Atoms walk out of a bar: The first says, "I think I lost an electron back there." The second asks, "Are you sure?". The first replies, "I'm positive."

  17. That is a very interesting observation. I never thought to look at it from that angle. Good info, thanks
  18. The dishwasher idea is pretty much a no-go for various reasons as stated above. The dillon media separator still seems to be the most efficient method at this time. I'll just have to set aside a day to do it. This brass has been sitting around a while and has accumulated a lot of dirt. When I've just tumbled it, the media is black within one or two uses and at best the brass has a frosty look to it. When rinsed with water first, it comes out looking like new and I get 7K to 10K on the media. I appreciate the responses. I'll have to gice the drier sheet a try. Marc
  19. Changing media after each tumbling session is not feasable, nor will it be inexpensive. I would have to tumble each batch twice in separate media in order to get it clean enough. A mesh bag in the jacuzzi might work!
  20. Howdy all, I have been trying to figure out a better way of washing brass prior to tumbling. Currently I am using the small dillon media separator filled with hot water and laying the brass out on an old towel to dry. My reasoning for this is due to the ranges here having quite a bit of very fine dust and dirt that coats the brass, which seems to shorten the life of the media and does a poor job of polishing. The washed brass takes considerably less tumble time and comes out much brighter. Any other ideas or methods would be greatly appreciated, I would like to speed up the process as I have a large quantity to clean. Thanks, Marc
  21. For the past year and a half I have been running a FO on my limited, production and SS guns. For the WSSSC this year, I decided to run a different single stack with a Bo-mar rear and black serrated front sight. I had about a month of irregular practice before the match and I honestly thought that this sight arrangement was going to slow me down, however, I did not have time to put a FO on it. Lo and Behold, it does not seem to slow me down at all. In fact one of the squad members commented that on one stage involving a line of pepper poppers it sounded like church bells as the poppers clanged down. I ended up finishing the match with only one miss on a NPM target and less then ten extra shots taken during the entire match. I'll be running the same set-up from now through the Dust Devil to see if it was just a "one match wonder" or not.
  22. Chances of snow are slim, However, with the range backed up to the Catalinas there is a good possibility of unpredictable weather. I think it was two years ago when we had a rather cold rain for a half day on Sat. Come prepared for hot or cold...
