  1. Totally agree! If you can run the stage to avoid a moving-left reload, it'll make the RO much more comfortable and less likely to call you for breaking the 180. That being said, some stages just flow better toward a weak-hand reload. In that case, by all means, run it the most efficient way... Just be extremely cognizant of where your gun's pointing! Reloads moving toward your weak-hand are not impossible, they just take more awareness. Bit of a thread drift but live in the world of a left handed shooter for a bit. Almost every stage is designed to be run left to right. (whine mode off now). really? it seems fairly uncommon to me for a stage with lots of lateral movement to not have the option to go either way. Maybe that's just the way we do things here. There is almost always an option to go right to left. It is often the ugly sister though. I don't worry about it. I think most folks 180 during a reload because they aren't focused on the direction of the pistol. When it is awkward I am really focused on it. I just think awkward is slower. Personally I like Grauffel's technique when he runs against the grain of dropping the mag as he takes off and then inserting the new mag as he is stepping into position to shoot. Well, actually what don't we like about Grauffel's techniques?

  3. 3ish grains of E3 pushing a 180 at 1.130 is just plain stupid fun and still accurate.
  4. That is the board with the capacitor. I think pretty much unless you order from Cmore and tell them it is going on a big boy gun you won't get the capacitors. Mine was a pretty darn new one and it did the turn off trick until I sent it in. Been running great since then.
  5. I've DQed my share of shooters. Almost to a person they did not believe that had committed the offense. Of course they didn't. Nobody thinks "I'll break the 180 or sweep myself or do whatever and hope nobody notices". I completely get the certainty they carry into the argument. I will also say that when I yell Stop that I have not only crapped on the shooter's day but on mine too. I hate doing it and so am at least equally as certain that I saw what I did. It is why I hate ROing certain stages where I watch shooter after shooter get way, way too close to the 180. I'm certain I've let many go that should have gone to DairyQueen. Video isn't used and I get why. It isn't available for everyone and unless it is at the perfect angle doesn't tell you anything. I will never second RO right on the 180 even if you cover me in Kevlar. The game is called by what the ROs see with a couple of rare exceptions. Most ROs are doing the best they can making decisions in the moment as they are running along with a shooter. Having a mobile protractor and prism and 15 min to analyze it all is not an option. If you have a RO who is a bonehead that is a different issue that should be addressed with the RM or MD.
  6. Okay Jacob.... video is required. :-)
  7. To get an idea of what an Xrail feels like racertape a box of shells to the end of your shotgun. I didn't care for it but there are plenty who will trade the weight for capacity.
  8. Yeah, done that and looked at FB pages.
  9. Clubbing with a "You will never make it in politics with that record" abandon. Giving up clubbing to be a real grown up. Daughter born. Marriage broken. Learning. Relearning.
  10. I've got 170, 155 and 140s used with both 9mm and SC in guns both my wife and I use. They have been at least as reliable as any other mags I have used, probably more.
  11. Yeah, I have never seen one that covers lost items but I figured I would hedge my bet in case there is something oddball out there I've never seen.
  12. Each policy is a world unto itself but my experience is that the care custody or control language is normally applicable to claims made against the insured for property of others that the insured is exercising CCC over. Also a distinction should be made between lost and stolen items on unscheduled personal property. The basic Homeowners policy does not afford coverage for lost items but does for stolen. By scheduling your firearms the coverage is normally broadened to include lost property. Long story short is that this is a very policy specific discussion where what is true in one instance may well not be true in the next. It is boring tedious analysis best done with the assistance of a specialist in the field. An insurance policy is a contract and what it says is what it will or will not do.
  13. xxkingxx..... now that is a helluva first post! Yeah, pics, vids. Bring it.
  14. Wise words here. Particularly about the valuation clause of the agreed value policy. It may feel like you are guaranteeing what the firearm is worth but actually the carrier is only stating the maximum they will pay. My other contribution is to at a minimum photograph and catalogue all of your firearms. Get appraisals if you want to be uberpreparred. Making a claim for thousands and thousands of dollars in undocumentable contents claims is a red flag for fraud (nothing personal, it is just out of the norm and a common practice of less honest folks than yourselves). The main downside to SIU getting involved is that it will slow down the claim process.
  15. While I have figured out what a few of the top guys were running does anyone have a list of what SG the top shooters in Open were running at MG Nationals?
  16. Without even having a toxicology report or a final determination of what caused his death you are willing to say good riddance to a human being. I think you are drawing before the buzzer beeps. I don't think a great musician, sports figure, or politician has any more inherent value than the guy who just checked me out at Home Depot. They also owe me nothing and are making their way through life the best they can just like the rest of us. "You never truly know someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes." I will return to my original message. Goodbye Prince. Thanks for providing some great music and an atrocious but fun movie.
  17. In a word, no. The breechface in the 9mm is too small for the larger .40 case. Going from .40 to 9 the fit is loose but usually functional.
  18. Oh yeah.....my TS with 180s in minor is just the bomb.
  19. I've watched Nils shoot Limited minor and make it look like the most fun thing since..... well, you get it, while crushing very talented shooters. My experience is that while certainly fun and easier on older hands I throw enough Cs and Ds (no penalty mikes) that my I will drop a few positions. My story is you need to be either a star studded alpha shooter or in this game for the fun of it all. Edited for typos.
  20. Yeah, Joplin died a couple weeks before or after, I dont remember which. Morrision around then too. Heroin is a cruel mistress.
  21. Thanks for addressing this. I will never, never, never be okay with somebody pointing any firearm at me. Chamber flag, no chamber flag, slung, unslinging, uncasing, climbing a ladder, RO saw that loaded mag inserted but round not chambered........ No. Hell no.
  22. Flu + Percocet = very, very bad things. Lets not Jimi Hendrix him just yet.
