  1. Yeah, that is pretty much what got me thinking in the first place. A kinda sorta painted plate rack and a 2moa dot were not a good date.
  2. Les, good point on the eye relief. On my MPX I can mount the optic the same distance from my eye as when I hold my pistol. The MPX has an extende receiver.
  3. Doc, I agree with your point about not having to find the dot like we do with handguns. I guess the question then becomes if we don't have to have the size to assist in finding the dot are we faster with the smaller or larger dot. I just really don't know.
  4. Okay, it seems our reflex when we get a PCC is to slap on a 2 or maybe 4 MOA dot like we do on our big boy carbines. My question is should we be doing this for USPSA? We are shooting in pistol bays where we routinely use either a 6 or 8 moa on our pistols. Given the size of our targets in USPSA are not 8" plates at 200Y shouldn't we be considering larger dots? Either that or should we be using 2 MOAs on our pistols???
  5. Alright, before I completely strip the heads as I try to take my RTS2 off what size wrench should I be using? I'm bat blind and can't even tell if it a torx or allen head.
  6. Yep. I am a lefty and load weakhand quads. I should probably have pointed out the other issue with port modification. That is as low as you can drop the loading port on the ejection port side due to the location of the serial number. I dropped that side down to the bottom of the serial number which is not very much.
  7. I run a 1301 and have shot my buddy's Taran modified M2 at Multigun Nats a couple years ago. The finish on the M2 to my mind is better and it is slightly lighter than the 1301. I really liked the M2 but will stick with my 1301. With equal loads the 1301 shoots noticeably softer like Mick says. In addition after break in I have shot loads down to 900 fps 1 1/8 dram up to 1350 pfs reliably. You will probably need 3 dram minimum with the M2 to keep it happy. My 1301 is indifferent to ammo shooting everything from bulk pack to AA. The M2 is a bit more particular. There are two reasons the 1301 is harder to quad than the M2. The first is that the mag tube in the 1301 is buried deeper down in the receiver and there is nothing you can do about that. The other is the shape of the stock loading port. Some can quad with it, I couldn't. I checked out the IPSC shotgun shooters and Beretta factory shooter's loading ports and modded mine the same way and quads are quick and slick now. the real tricks are to open the port forward and to reshape how the lower receiver moves into the foregrip. Whichever you have make sure you fit the shotgun to you via all the adjustments in the stock. That is the single most important thing I have found with shotties. <a
  8. Trying to find a load for my MPX carbine and I have to say I am somewhat surprised at how many people are using fast powders (TG, etc). I'm thinking long barrel = slow powder. Then again, I'm thinking AR 15 rounds, not heavier pistol projectiles. Anyone care to educate the slow kid in class?
  9. Yep, I've found a couple mentions of loads but was hoping to for some more input. 16" MPX. Bonus points if it involves E3 or Longshot.
  10. Thanks Jeremy! I actually think Boxer has a great idea. Shoot the stage, switch caps, bag it till the next stage. Win!
  11. Okay, so I have gone with the John Holmes Replica Edition 14 round mag tube option for my Open shottie. Problem is I can't find a 3 gun bag long enough for it. My Safariland will only hold a 12 round tube and cutting a hole in it to have the mag tube peek out of is not going to do it for me. Any suggestions for a bag this will fit in?
  12. Pull the bolt back a bit. See if that does the trick for you.
  13. Well, he'll have to do since you left....... :-)
  14. Yes Kurt, I know the correct answer is C: none of the above and if Patrick puts up another picture of that 18" with irons he has I might be tempted. Still....... I did a search but never really found much. For those of you shooting Limited which of these do you prefer and why. I've been playing with a PA microclone and decided I like shooting the division so clearly need to spend money on it.
  15. So I converted my .40 TS to a 9. Gun cycles fine and ejects nicely. My problem is with the mags. Running CZC basepads and followers. I can stuff 24 in them but it just feels wrong and I can live with that but even with 23 I am getting nosedives into the feed ramp every so often. This is with MG 121 and Bayou 160 projectiles. All that said I guess I have two questions. How many rounds are you loading in your mags and what OAL/projectiles are you running? Thanks.
  16. So sad. Just so damned sad. RIP and condolences to all who are left behind.
  17. If nobody has said it yet keyholing is often the result of excessive crimp.
  18. Agree. I can't get the AAs to run in mine either. Federals I just keep looking on line for and snag any that come up.
  19. So VM and 1301 shooters, you all have shotties capable of reliably running subsonic rounds. My 1301 can run 900 fps Federals all day and hosing a row of clays with them makes me giggle like a little girl. The question is how light of ammo are you running in local and major matches. I've read Patrick's really useful article on chokes which addressed this question but wondered what match experience/preference is. I know if I really want to go down this path and I should test the bunnfarts on various targets at different distances to see what MY gun will do but before I do just wanted to see if it was worth even messing with.
  20. Now that's the way to shoot a match! I SOOOooooo want to do something like that. Dad carried a Thompson in WWII and it would be damned cool to shoot one of these in PCC.
