  1. I believe they are referring to the way IPSC shotgun shooters start at times. Like this.
  2. Outside the COF? Do you mean the flag and sling wording? Personally I've only seen PCCs being bagged between stages. As far as HHF I agree that uprange starts offer significant advantage to PCC. I also agree that those competing in PCC are jumping up in class. If it were my call I would not classify anybody in any provisional division but just build a database of their scores. If the division is approved you then use that database to set HHFs for the division. That is not the way USPSA decided to implement this though. I am interested to see (assuming PCC becomes an official division) if there is a blanket recalculation of classifications utilizing PCC data rather than Open. It would seem the fairest thing to do not only for those who join PCC later but for those in other divisions who feel that classifications earned via PCC in the current format somehow tarnishes their own classification.
  3. Caveat... I shoot PCC and like it even though I thought I wouldn't. With that in mind.... Courses made easier for PCC? Not in my experience nor do I ever want to see it. I have shot many a match and know the MDs and not once was there an issue of "no hard leans because of the PCC guys". I have had hard weakhand leans where I could barely engage the target off my weak shoulder. So what? It can be and was done safely albeit slower than if I was shooting in any other division. This brings me to my second point. Since nobody shooting PCC that I know of is asking to change COFs and this is its own (provisional) division competing only with others within that division I don't get the angst. Don't like PCC? Think it's stupid to shoot a carbine on a pistol course? That is cool. Just don't do it. Feel free to denigrate it like most who think the only real division is the one they shoot but just don't take PCC out behind the barn and put a bullet in it. :-) Certainly clunky rules need to be refined. If it were my call I would not have classified anyone until there was enough data to set the division's own HHFs and would not apply the "only one class lower in any other division" language. But that is just my 2 cents.
  4. Thank you Mike. I really appreciate that. The more I shoot my carbine even on tight stages the less I see any appreciable advantage to an SBR. Certainly not enough to deal with the challenges with resale and the other troubles, however large or small of owning a SBR. It just doesn't make sense for me with my proclivity for shooting in multiple states with different and constantly changing laws. That is just me though. It may well be the bomb for others.
  5. What Southpaw said. I have run Extremes at 1.150 in my MPX but my SNSs can be no longer than 1.128. To test, and this is the only way to know max OAL your specific gun for certain, pull your barrel of drop a round in and then push hard on the back of the case with your little pinky. Turn the barrel upside down and if it doesn't fall out shorten and repeat. Banging the barrel on the workbench so it comes out does not constitute a win. :-)
  6. Your OAL is too long. The projectile is hitting the lands and getting stuck on them. You will need to shorten your OAL. Of course watch your charge weight as 9mm is a small case and changes in OAL can make big differences in case pressure (and PF).
  7. Kevin, I do think you are onto something. I haven't quit playing with higher PF loads just yet but at this point I tend to agree. I was at 2.7-2.8 E3 for 130pf and am running 3.6 now. The dot seems to have less bounce and I honestly don't notice much difference in recoil. I have no idea why and want to compare again to be sure but if this works I can have one load for my MPX, my 3 gun Tac Sport and my Production Shadow. Win!!
  8. Did you send it to Sig to open the gas port? As I hear it they will open it from the .045 to .050 that was the dimension in the Gen 1s. To answer your question though I am running 3.5 of E3 under a 125 moly at 1.135. It is higher than 130 PF but still stupid soft.
  9. Both of my PCC buddies run JPs and I've shot them in matches. I went with the MPX initially because I am a lefty and the JP does not have a LH mag release and it is a proprietary piece so I can't put an ambi AR one in. Having gotten the MPX I think it shoots noticeably softer than the JP and gleefully runs 40 round mags. The downsides are mags are more expensive and at least mine will not run 130 pf ammo reliably. Sig dropped the size of the gas port on the Gen IIs which did not help with bunny fart rounds. Still, even at higher PF my MPX is still softer with almost no dot bounce compared to any blowback design including the JP. Both are great tools for the game.
  10. Yeah.... call SIG. No stock firearm should pierce primers. I'd say measure your firing pin to see if it is out of spec but I don't know for certain what the correct length should be.
  11. What if any differences can you tell between the carbine and SBR while shooting??
  12. As others have said run slightly hotter ammo for @ 250 to 500 rounds. I've found mine likes to be run pretty darn wet. More so than my .223 Even if low round count I would clean the piston assembly. if it is not moving freely it will mimick being undergassed. The MPX being piston driven often takes more powder than a blow back like the Scorpion. It will feel softer, just takes more powder to run the system. My 147 molys with 2.8 of E3 toss brass 6 feet or so. This is after 2K rounds
  13. Upfront I will say I love my carbine length MPX. That said I am curious if there is any real advantage in our game to SBRing it. Cost isn't really a factor. I can tax stamp the one I have and once it finally arrives either get an 8" barrel from SIG (assuming they ever decide to actually make spare barrels rather than just advertise that barrels interchangeable) or cut my current one down. I figure it will lighten up the gun a bit and move the balance point further back a bit. I haven't found the length of the carbine to be an issue but arguably shorter would be better. On the down side while it can certainly be done it is kind of a PITA to take a SBR into another state and I do travel to shoot. I also current hold my off hand further down the handguard than I could if I SBR it. Thoughts? Comments? Anyone actually done it???

    Sig MPX

Always sorta wondered about that. I never saw much benefit in a SC minor gun with a comp but those were under 130pf. I saw better results with ported barrels and wonder if it would apply to carbines. Maybe not....... I'll let somebody else be on the bleeding edge of technology on that question.

915 to 920 fps. The physics are also more than just VxM. The burn rate of the powder can have a significant impact and can not be calculated well into a formula. A 125 projectile traveling at X speed with VV N105 will feel stunningly different than the same projectile and velocity with VV N310. It becomes more of an art and preference than science. Hi Eric! It is funny the E3 is used so much by SG shooters as it is actually a fairly quick burning powder. Burn charts vary but it seems to fall between N310 and N320. I've actually found it to be one of my favorite 9mm minor poweders in everything from 121s (which I love) up to 160s although it burns cleaner and slightly better accuracy if I can keep the charge weight above 3.0 grains.

I've got a Gen 2 that I am running 147 SNS molys on top of just 2.8 of E3 at 1.145. No problems at all but I do run the bolt pretty wet and clean the piston assembly every 500-700 rounds.

Following because as much as I love my carbine version, Alma's looks cooler. Plus with the Lantac the RO might actually pick up my last shot. :-)
  18. Scott, is that a barrel shroud and Lancer handguard? I can't blow the picture up enough to see.
  19. Rowdy- 1. Yes. My buddies run JP GMR13s and the MPX is noticeably softer/less bouncy. 2. Hated it. KAK adapter with an AR tube and Minimalist stock do the trick for me. Mine runs on everything from 124s to 147s. Personal preference is 147s but I seem to hold the minority view. Mags drop free. You don't have to strip out 3 or 4 rounds in order to use a mag to reload like with Glock mags. The minor pf in your pistol will probably be 100 fps faster or so in your MPX. Run higher PF ammo as it breaks in. Run it wet. Take Aleve when your cheeks start to hurt from smiling so much when you shoot it.
  20. Love mine. Very soft shooting and accurate. As someone else said it likes a little shorter OAL. Also likes to be run wet, especially when new. Hiperfire trigger, KAK stock adapter with a Minimalist stock and it is the bomb. Handguard is a widebody but I got used to it. Currently running an old M68 Aimpoint but doing my usual thing of trying every optic in the world. Twice.
  21. When I called them I was told all parts are only going into full gun builds and warranty repairs. I couldn't even get them to sell me a spare firing pin which is a potential weak link in the Gen 2s.
