  1. I shoot coated lead bullets in practice (SNS RN) and JHPs in matches (PD or HAP). I've found the JHPs to be more accurate, and they give me some extra confidence. All ammo goes through a hundo case gauge.
  2. Yeah, I set an in-stock notification for those recently [emoji6]
  3. XTPs are $0.20 a round. Ouch. I'm surprised that none of the usual suspect (Precision Delta, Montana Gold) make a 147 JHP.
  4. What are other good match options for 147 JHPs? Plenty of options with 124s, but 147s, not so much…
  5. Anyone notice a performance/accuracy difference between X-Treme 147 HP and RN HPCB bullets? I've found that JHPs are generally more accurate than FMJs, and I understand it's due to how the jacket is drawn, but the X-Tremes are plated, so maybe things are different?
  6. Link to that deal? I'm not seeing it on their web site.
  7. I'm liking this powder a lot—cheap, clean, and cool burning. Accuracy and consistency seem fine. But like others I've noticed that the powder measure takes at least ten or twenty throws to settle down after a change. Any idea why that might be? Load data so far to make 130 PF out of my SP-01 Shadows: 147 SNS coated: 3.3 gr, 1.13" 160 SNS coated: 3.0 gr, 1.15" 147 X-Treme RN: 3.6 gr., 1.13" 165 X-Treme RN: 3.3 gr., 1.15"
  8. This may get you pointed in the right direction: link. Optometrists are of greatly varying quality when it comes to anything out of the ordinary.
  9. Thanks for the comparisons to Bullseye & Titegroup. You're liking the recoil impulse of the slightly faster SV over the V?
  10. I happened upon a large quantity of Bullseye when I started reloading and haven't used anything else. But it's become nearly impossible to find. What differences do you notice between it, Prima V, and the other Vector powers you've tried loading 9mm minor? WST and W231 were others I'm considering. I tried some rounds loaded with Titegroup—that stuff seems hot and smoky with coated bullets.
  11. Compare your hammer to a new one and look for visible wear. The hammer on one of my Shadows started falling to the half-cock notch when inserting a new magazine around 20k rounds. The hooks were visibly worn on inspection. Sear seemed fine. That pistol had seen a shit-ton of dry fire. I replaced the hammer and sear on my other Shadow as a preventative measure at 50k rounds. It could have gone longer, but that seemed a good point.
  12. You probably want a CZ Tactical Sport for Limited. CZ Custom and others offer grip reduction work if you need it.
  13. Great—will keep an eye out for them!
  14. Any plans to make them available in annoying colors? Electric blue, neon red, etc.?
  15. Lots of fantastic hiking, mountain biking, and trail running opportunities around Tucson.
  16. The stock safeties are a mess—they interfere with getting a high grip on the pistol and are easy to activate accidentally, particularly on a weak-hand transfer. I've installed the thin safeties on all my Shadows.
  17. Sensitive primers FTW! I've mangled CCIs and Fiocchis horribly, usually when attempting to seat one in a case where the decapping pin failed to do its thing, and never had one light off as a result.
  18. 11.5# hammer spring and zero problems popping Fiocchi and CCI primers. No interest in Federal primers. Too many friends have accidentally lit off a stack of them in their Dillons.
  19. Here you go: link. They help a bit with accidentally activating the safety. Best bet is to start with tightly fit thin safeties. Then add the extra-power detent springs as a belt & suspenders approach.
  20. I run an 11.5# hammer spring and it pops CCI and Fiocchi primers just fine with the extended firing pin. Never used Federal primers and zero interest in trying them.
  21. Both hold up very well. The CZC spring is heavier and gives a more forceful reset.
  22. Gunk builds up under the extractor over time, reducing tension and causing feeding trouble. The only way to get it out is by pulling the extractor and scraping out the channel. I've pulled the extractors in my CZs dozens of times, always by drifting the pin out the bottom of the slide then re-inserting it from the bottom. It's never come loose in ~75k rounds between my two main blasters.
  23. It's not in the least bit difficult. Pack your ammo into 100-round boxes for the range and record how many you use each time. If something goes haywire, it only takes a couple seconds to determine round count up to that point.
  24. The CGW starter punch makes it easier.
