  1. The thin safety requires fitting. It's not difficult—follow these instructions.

    spo1 help

You say this as if it’s a problem. If your pistol auto forwards like this, then you save yourself the time of having to hit the slide release.
  3. You'll want a CZC bench block, sight pusher, and punch set (recommendation) sooner rather than later. Adjustable sights break—it's a fact of life.
  4. It shouldn't wear our that quickly. Try giving the barrel a good scrubbing with a bronze brush and cleaning solvent.
  5. I sent the slide to CZC and they fit the barrel for me. But it's evidently not that difficult to do. How many rounds to you have through the barrel? I suspect that lifetime depends on bullet and powder selection.

    CZ sp-01

No buffer, 13# recoil spring for 124 gr. bullets @ 130 PF.
  7. As mentioned, trigger-return spring for sure. Also, if you're using an adjustable sight, spare parts for that. The HAJO that I used to use on my Accu Shadow blew up in the middle of a field course once. Good thing the rest of the targets were close paper. I switched the gun for my back-up on the next stage.
  8. Best bet is to buy the CZ thin safety and fit it real tight. They're thin enough that you'll forget they're there. The stock Shadow safety is nothing but trouble. Sooner or later, you'll activate it accidentally when establishing a high grip or doing a weak-hand transfer.

    CZ Shadow 2

Any improvement in machining evident on the Shadow 2, particularly on the outside of the trigger bar and where it rubs against the frame?
  10. I’m replacing the TRS (model from CZC), recoil spring, main spring, and slide stop every 10k. I think the main spring can safely go 20k. Firing pin and firing pin spring get changed at 20k along with the extractor group. The firing pin does shorten measurably over time. I replaced the sear and mag catch springs at 50k. Pull the extractor and clean out under it every 5k rounds. These numbers are on the conservative side. Better safe than sorry IMO. The hammer on my SP-01 needed replacing at 15k rounds. The hooks were very worn when I looked carefully. Honestly not sure how that happened, as the hooks on my Accu Shadow were only slightly worn at 50k.
  11. I'm at 52k on an SP-01 Accu-Shadow and 16k on an SP-01 Shadow. Both get the hell dry fired out of them. I've been replacing the springs, slide stop, and extractor group regularly and haven't had any breakages there. Main thing of note was replacing the barrel around 40k rounds. The AC was grouping worse than the SP-01, but a new barrel fixed that real quick. The hammer hooks on the SP-01 wore down to where a cocked hammer would drop to half-cock when seating a fresh magazine. Not sure what was up with that, but the pistol got a new hammer and sear. Keep an eye on the magazine catch. It does get beat up over time. The two humps on the top of the trigger bar also wear down. I replaced a bunch of internals on my AC at 50k as a precautionary measure.
  12. Swap out the factory sights for a fiber front and plain back rear. Lighten up the springs. Then go forth and conquer. It will be a while before the gun is holding you back.
  13. I'm currently using Ballistic M-Frame 3.0s with TR45 lenses and a prescription insert. The combination works well enough, but two sets of lenses result in additional surfaces for reflecting stray light and real cleaning fun once sweat gets rolling in the summer. I also run into trouble with my eye lashes mucking up the insert because they sit very close. A single set of tinted prescription lenses would be preferable. I'm not seeing a pink lens with similar transmission available in prescription format for Oakley frames like the Flak 2.0, so I'm researching other manufacturers (Decot, Pilla, etc.). I'd like to stick with Oakley due to the excellent impact rating, so I'm open to ideas.
  14. What do you think of the two for shooting?
  15. Heard back from Oakley: Thank you for contacting us. We’re stoked to hear about your interest in Oakley Prescription Eyewear. Unfortunately, the TR22 and TR45 are not offered in prescription. However, that doesn't mean that it won't happen in the future, but as of now it's not an option.
  16. I’ve emailed Oakley to see what they say. How do you like the Prism Trail lenses for shooting? I’m currently wearing TR45s in my Ballistic M-Frames with prescription inserts. I like how the tint helps with contrast on paper targets. The trail lenses seem more skewed toward purple.
  17. Anyone know if Oakley’s TR45 lenses are available in prescription format, say for the Flak 2.0 frames?
  18. Thin safeties, VZ grips. Dry-fire the hell out of it.
  19. I followed these instructions when fitting mine. Not a big deal if you're patient and remove tiny amounts of metal at a time.

That’s because it’s worth it. Prices largely even out once you’re done replacing parts on the SP 01.

    Hammer ID

I need to replace the hammer & sear in my CZ and am not sure which hammer is in them now. I'm seeing both a Comp and a Comp Low hammer for sale. Here's a picture:
  23. Stuart hooked up me and a buddy of mine with Compact Shadows back in 2013. Hammer is a different profile, but the trigger feels just like an SP-01 Shadow with the same short reset and no FPB stacking. Good luck finding one!
  24. I like Kingman’s double-thickness Kydex holster. Holds the pistol securely with absolutely no binding on the draw.
  25. Dawson, due to the aforementioned reasons and CZ Custom being perpetually out of stock on thin front sights.
