  1. That Titan on GotM4's rifle is damn sexy looking. GotM4......What is your opinion of how good it works?
  2. Yep.....ultrasonic is the cats azz for cleaning suppressors. a 10 to mix of Simple Green does wonders. If I do use a medium inside my cans(rarely)....its mineral oil. I have used wire pulling gel too but too messy. Not sure about slide glide. Probably would work just fine. I got my ultrasonic for less than $100 from a wholesaler. Its heated and timed and works great on all things firearms.
  3. The best comp I've found is the SJC Titan. Flat out works the best of any brake I've ever tried. And I have even made several of my own. I am still trying to design and make one that works better. I own a comp from all of the popular makers. Several work pretty damn good. Namely the Rolling Thunder. But the Titan still has the edge on my rifles. Just works too damn good. Its definitely the loudest freaking comp out there too. It works real good at keeping the RO away too.
  4. I definitely advise against cleats. I wear my mid top hikers and have no problems. The gravel is #3 and slightly larger and could wreak havoc on an ankle with cleats on.
  5. Ima45DV8 pretty much summed up my thoughts exactly. Even the one about the smoking all Alpha 20 second run in the shoothouse that never made its way to the stat shack. I had a great time and it was a great match as could be expected from Bill and Cindy and our very own stage/match designer Larry Turner. I always get a kick out of the fact that it takes a solid week of blood, sweat and tears to build those stages and in an hour they are all torn down by such a fine and dedicated RO staff. Without the RO's.....these matches we love so much would not be possible. My hats off to everyone involved in making all these matches possible.
  6. That KirkM guy probably wants to have his hand at another 38 round shotgun stage. That stage was awesome. Please bring it back.
  7. Can't wait for the video.
  8. I got one of the tools from Greg before he released them to the market. Greg Morando is a USPSA shooter from Huntsville Alabama. I've used the pliers and the punch method to force the basepad off. I hated the pliers. And prying off the pads with the punch elongates the hole in the pad requiring replacement in short order. The GTUL is small and compact and extremly easy and fast to use. I can lay all of my mags out and open them up in seconds without any additional wear on the basepads or mag bodies. And $20 is not a bad price. Its a nice product and it works well. The punch on the end of the handle also works as a great disassembly tool. When it comes to competition.....I leave nothing to chance. I clean my mags often.....even though they are Glock mags. I want my equipment to work all the time and treat it as such. This tool just makes it a little easier. A tool as simple and easy to use like this is long overdue. Let me also add....its made right here in the USA
  9. Imitation is the highest form of flattery .......but I feel ya
  10. Without a doubt.....thanks for everything Brian and hope you have an awesome birthday. Happy Birthday to everyone else as well.
  11. For STI tubes my favorite and most reliable combintation is to use the ISMI 11 coil spring with a Dawon 40/45 follower and Dawson +1+ SNL pads. I trim the leg off the bottom of the follower and hold 20 tight and 19 reloadable in an STI tube. I have one that holds 20 reloadable. ISMI springs just seem to never wear out. I have had the same springs for over 2 years and they still function fine. My Grams springs on the other hand......not so good about a quarter of that. Bolens spring and followers are hit or miss in STI tubes. If they work they can hold 21. Just about every STI tube I have used them in rollover and bind up the mag. Rocket35 has had great luck with his STI tubes out of the package with Bolens. The +1 Dawson Pads yield 1 round less usually than the +1+ SNL.
  12. I've seen the problems with the LWD adjustable trigger stop that is mentioned. I've found that it is caused from too little overtravel. Back the screw out a half turn and no more problems. Most folks try to adjust the overtravel to its tightest position. This in turn causes the flex as well as striker drag which rounds and wears the foot of the striker down and causes possible doubles. Were talking .005" will cause problems. The thickness of a sheet of notebook paper basically. In all reality.....the minute a Glock is modified in any way from stock configuration.....its 100% reliability is compromised. Even the 25 cent trigger job can be detrimental if done improperly.
  13. Happy Birthday Randall and others!!! Draw and Duck........he who brings beer to the sport and wears it on his sleeve and measures consumption in gallons and makes your stomach hurt from laughing so hard. Happy Birthday once more.......hope you remember it.
  14. The Hornady 55 grain FMJ projectile is among the best for general purpose use. I have been able to load it to sub MOA in some of my rifles. Ramshot powders produce excellent results at good prices. As does several Accurate and hodgden powders. Experiment and find one that provides good accuracy and velocity in your gun. And then load em up.
  15. Go to the football section of any sporting goods store and get a set of Nike or Under Armor Neo Sleeves. The work great for protection and are very flexible. Made of neoprene hence the term neo. Under $20
  16. Yes......if the crimp was removed from a commercial reloader it is fine to reload again....and again....and again......and....well you get it. WCC is good brass. Very thick web.
  17. Its not ok to break the rules. But sometimes they can be more relaxed for minor things. I didn't say what I said to start a debate about it. It is what it is. People break the rules and make small infractions all the time. Does enforcemnet have to be the harshest all the time? Maybe for y'all but thats not how I nor most folks at our clubs operate around here. In the spirit of keeping the new shooters from getting aggravated and leaving the sport.....we at our local and indoor matches will school such people with a pep talk about the rules and the spirit of the game and let them get by with it for a match or two or three until they self correct. And they usually will. I personally see no reason to move a shooter to open for an infraction of this nature hence the reason for my comment.
  18. Well....the finger grooves are not there enough to be legal in Production. I'm sure it will be fine in a local match but you'll still get crap from your buds. But that will never fly at a major match. On a side note.....David has always done some nice work. Just looks like he is getting a bit pricey.
  19. You do a very good job getting in touch with your feminine side.
  20. You are correct except Mike was one of the 1st post 9/11 and not really one of the originals. My stepdad is a retired FAM (hired in 1989 I believe) and Mike is waaaay too young to have worked there. The FAM's were alive and working even prior to my stepdad's time. Oh yeah......I think the original flying 6 started in the late 70's to early 80's. Prior to 9/11 there were still not very many Sky Marshalls. Now.....there are some 9000 nationally. But word is they are going to phase out the FAM position and make them Transportation Security Agents and start covering all facets of transportation. We'll see what happens.
  21. I've taken over 30 firearms training classes from various instructors around the country since 2003. Some multiple times. Ken Hackathorn-5 pistol classes and 1 rifle Larry Vickers(Vickers Tactical)-2 pistol and 2 rifle Super Dave Harrington(Martial Gun)-1 pistol and 1 rifle and 1 rifle/pistol Gabe Suarez-1 pistol Andy Stanford(OPS Inc)-1 pistol,1 rifle and tactical dynamics Tiger KcKee(Shootrite Academy)-1 rifle and 1 pistol Thunder Ranch in Texas-1 rifle Tom Givens(Rangemaster)-2 pistol Southnarc(Craig Douglas)ECQC 1,2,3,4 Paul Gomez-AK47 rifle class Paul Howe-1 rifle class Pat Rogers(EAG)-1rifle class Steve Tarani-1 knife class Tactical Response(James Yeager)- 1 pistol Magpul Dynamics with Chris Costa and Travis Haley-1 rifle Erik Lund prior to USSA when he was Solar Shooting Solutions-1 rifle class And some other small 2-4 hour blocks at various conferences. Of the above Ken Hackathorn stands out as one of my favorite instructors for pistol and rifle to a civilian. I will attend his class every time he is in town for as long as he continues to teach civilians. His class never gets old and only gets better with age. Ken is definitely not stuck in his dogma. Erik Lund(Bear1142 on here) is my favorite rifle instructor and is also one of the most articulate instructors I have been to. His teaching style is very calm and extremely informative and yet totally easy to learn from. I attended his Performance rifle class in 2006 prior to him going to work for USSA as their senior instructor. Since then him and I have become very good friends and train together regularly. I've learned a huge amount from him and he has been a great mentor to me in the 3 gun sport. He is the reason I got addicted to 3 gun. Super Dave is very intense and sometimes the information he teaches is like being fed from a firehose on full blast. Good stuff but you need to be in tune with your gun handling to absorb it all or you will fall behind the curve in his classes. He gets a little wound up sometimes. But he is one of those hardcore been there done that type. I really liked Andy Stanford's Surgical Speed shooting class. I really came to grasp the importance of trigger control by the end of that one and find it to be one of the most beneficial classes that helped me in the competition world as well as self defense. Vickers class is pretty good. Its very accuracy based and you definitely get the most up to date insider buzz from the firearms industry. Larry has been there and done that as well. James Yeager at Tactical Response is also very good. I picked up a few techniques that I took away from his class. Now you just might get one of his adjuncts and not him. I was lucky enough to actually train with him.And it was prior to his time in Iraq or the start of the team room. Tiger McKee at Shootrite and Clint Smith at Thunder Ranch really did not do anything for me but get me some trigger time and teach me dogmatic technique.Kind of Blah I thought. Paul Howe and Pat Rogers were pretty good for rifle. I took a few things away from their classes. There was some stuff I did not care for from Paul but none the less....I went with an open mind. Having an open mind in any class is extremely important. SouthNarcs classes were excellent. Lots of Simunition evolutions. Very eyeopening and learned a ton of 0-5 feet technique which is very important. I highly recommned him for ECQC and structure clearing as well. Steve Tarani was OK.....but I liked SouthNarc better. Craig's knife fighting technique worked better for me. Tom Givens was kind of dogmatic at the time but I think he has changed some since then. But the repititious trigger time helped refine my technique sort of early on. His class had a lot about gunfight history and broke down several things learned from modern day gunfights and shootouts. My very first class ever was from Gabe Suarez. He was a different kind of instructor. Good guy to get a fighting mindset from. Magpul Dynamics runs a good operation. I thoroughly enjoyed Chris and Travis. I didn't learn anything new. But their class fit my technique and helped me reform some weak areas. Especially off hand. It was an ammo waster of a class though. I shot almost 1600 rounds in two days. Paul Gomez is awesome for AK technique. I met him through Andy Stanford. He was an adjunct for Andy at the time and is now on his own. If there are any other specifics you would like to know about my experiences.....please shoot me a PM and I can go into further detail. My recommendation for pistol is Ken Hackathorn and for rifle it is Erik Lund at USSA and Ken Hackathorn. Based on my experiences.....you will get the best bang for your buck from them. Oh and I also happen to know that Eriks shotgun skills are second to none and coupled with his teachinfg style.....you can't go wrong. There you go.....striaght from a mall ninjas mouth. Hope it helped some. I feel like I've had a little experience. And yes......I did learn a great deal from all of them as a whole. I consider myself a continuous student of weaponcraft and refine it constantly through competition. I believe heavily in using the avenues of competition as a fun way to keep the axe as asharp as possible.
  22. Several of the FAMS in the Atlanta office can shoot as well and hold quite a few titles in IDPA and USPSA. The FAMS definitely stand out amongst the Fed LE and most other LE for their shooting ability. JJ is not a flying FAM though. He is an instructor at Headquarters to my knowledge. But none the less......a good one to be instructing. Mike Seeklander was also one of the original ones responsible for the FAM service firearm training program.
  23. I'm in the same boat with you brother. Just found out my first is gonna be a little girl. We found out last week. We are now at 21 weeks and expecting in mid August. We named her Kendall Reese. I grasp it more and more each and every day. I never imagined myself in my shoes but its turning out to be an awesome journey. Congrats and good luck with you and yours.
