  1. Rich.....don't listen to Sam......TN is not better than GA. Rather.....anyplace is better than Commifornia. C'mon down to GA. Lots of good shooting clubs around here. You may want to consider more North GA though. Clubs are much closer. Somehwere to shoot every weekend. You can even have evil black rifles.....of the short barreled variety.......with supressors.......and even a happy switch if you can swinfg the dough to obtain one. Hope you make it down this way.
  2. Members on here Benelli2 and Stefan both shoot Beretta Extrema 2 shotguns in 3 gun. Both are excellent and highly competitive shotgunners as well. I have seen there guns run flawlessly many times.
  3. I'm not one to read books very often unless I find one that truly just captures my attention. But Patriots-A Novel of Survival in the Coming Collapse by James Wesley Rawles was recommended to me by a close friend. So I picked up a copy and was sucked in. I literally could not put the book down. It was a400 page eye opening excellent read. It is a book of surviving a socio economic collapse much like what we are close to experiencing right now. Very detailed writing with tons of good reference material. James Wesley Rawles is also the owner of the survivalblog.com website. If any of you guys want to see how it may be necessary to prepare for survival during a TEOTWAKI situation.....I highly recommend this read.
  4. I keep an airtight pill bottle with 91% alcohol and soak about a dozen cotton large pistol cleaning patches. They stay wet as long as you don't leave the bottle open and cut through the worst of grime and residue and leave no streaks. The Zeiss lens wipes also work great.
  5. Oh C'mon Kelly......you know he was just shooting the wrong kind of shotgun
  6. Here is a pic that shows the internal breakdowns of a few buffers including their static and reciprocating weights. Edited previous post because I posted incorrect info.
  7. Yeah....I took your same stance but was told it was a specific model and needed to be approved first.
  8. I'm just going by what Amidon and others had said back in March. I bought one as well to find out it was not yet legal. I've got an email into JA right now to get an update on the status of the RTF legality. I will post when I receive a response.
  9. Why do you say the RTF is not yet legal for production? Isn't it just another G17 or G22? Did they have to wait for all of the other generation frames to be blessed for production division use? I just put sights and a connector in my G17RTF last night, I'm ready to go. It is not yet on the approved list US Production Gun List from NROI
  10. One thing I noticed with mine is how good the trigger is. I think maybe since its a new mold that the tolerances are still tight and maybe the frame is a bit stiffer. But the trigger is the best trigger of any glock I have ever felt. I really like the RTF. I'll be tickled when its legal for Production use. Mine is a G22. I put a Lone Wolf 357 Sig conversion barrel in it since I have unlimited supply of 357 Sig ammo and attended a 1000 round pistol class with Ken Hackathorn. The RTF made it very easy to keep a secure grip with the harsh recoiling caliber. 1000 rounds in two days was quite brutal on my joints but I never lost grip of it. The regular frame has the tendency to walk in your hand during bill drills and long firing strings.
  11. Why was there a need to add to the complexity of the shot? Its a no power factor match. Minimum power shotgun ammo should knock them down without question. Not turn them sideways or spin them 360 or shake them on the stand. 25% of the pattern should take them off the stand with ease.
  12. Match was fun. Stages were improved from last year. The ProMatic stage was great. Lotsa fun and very different. As usual prize table was rich and much thanks go out to the sponsors that make it all possible. RO staff worked hard and some were real comedians. Our squad had many good laughs. Especailly at the ProMatic stage. I wasn't too fond of the steel. I like the idea of steel and the reusable cost aspect of it but it needs to fall easier. Yeah it would fall everytime if you sat and aimed at it with at least an LM choke and some good loads but thats not what shotgun is. Shotgun is a scattergun. The steel should fall if 1/4 of the pattern contacts the plate. But it didn't. I had about 20 or so plates that turned sideways and one that did a complete 360 degree spin on the stand. Several just kinda rocked and laughed at you. Hopefully this will be looked into for next year. For a match that has no power factor.....my thougths are that plates should not be so hard to knock down. Several competitors came prepared for clays with lighter than normal loads. I came with #9's expecting clays but they were 1300fps. And still just shook most of the plates. I saw problems widespread as I spent my time in between stages watching many other squads. But all in all......fun match and look forward to the match next year.......all except the long drive anyway.
  13. In another FNH match thread.....it stated that slings were not needed for rifle or shotgun.
  14. I'm just beside myself on how awesome this match was. David,Randall,Steffan.....you guys continue to outdo yourselves every match and I'm proud to call you guys some close friends. I shoot alot of big 3 gun matches around the country and will say that the carbine matches at Steel City/Brocks Gap are my absolute favorite to shoot. And lucky for me I've only got to travel an hour and 45 minutes to get there. This year the two day format was cool and the sponsors really stepped up and supported the match. That prize table was rich. And I like the idea of awarding some order of finish and random draw. Thank you to all the sponsors who stepped up. You guys keep our sport alive. Thank you to all the hard working RO's. Without you volunteering our game could not happen. And Thank You to the setup crew and stage designers. Great stages this year. And support staff did an awesome job of keeping the water coolers full and taking care of the other ancillary duties. Just all in all A GREAT FREAKING MATCH!!!! Thanks again and congrats to the winners and top finishers!
  15. Just wanted to add my THANKS to all involved in making the SC sectional possible. This is my third year shooting it and it has just gotten better every year. We shot on Friday and had a great time. I hate to hear that a stage was thrown out. That always sucks for any match but it sounds like it was a necessary call. One thing I'd like to add that I thought was extremely grateful on behalf of the match. We brought one of our local juniors with us. When he went to pay for his match he was told that there was no need to pay becasue juniors shoot for free. I think that is quite an invitation to juniors and an awesome gesture. Jack,Linda and Donny......you guys run a world class match. Can't wait for the annual Tim Daugherty Memorial Toys for Tots match in December to be able to get back out there and shoot with most of y'all again.
  16. The SX2 technology is only available in the FN SLP models. The difference in the SX3 is that it is an aluminum receiver, and has invector plus chokes which use an overbored barrel and lengthened forcing cone. The weight difference is a full pound due to the difference in receiver weight and the vent rib barrel profile which is much lighter. I considered getting the Flannigan model. Its nothing special other than a red anodized receiver for like $300 more.
  17. I can still outrun my Benelli M1 that you built. Granted you built it several years ago and its one of the fluted bolts. I outran it on the poppers at last years FNH side match. Third poper down and I had to run the bolt because the hammer followed the bolt down. I liked my Benelli. It was just finicky when it wanted to be. It would just act up for short stints. Used to piss me off. With that said.....I'm sure this new SX3 will at some point. I'm just willing to see how long it takes. For now....its the latest greatest thing since sliced bread to me.
  18. It can't run any worse than my Benelli did. Ol Nelli had the ability to act like an old stubborn woman on the rag on occasion with no explanation.
  19. I weighed the barrels this evening on the two. The 26" SX3 barrel weighs in at 35.8oz and the 22" FN barrel weighs 44.9oz I will have a 26" vent rib FN barrel in a few weeks that I have been waiting for. I hope that barrel is in line with the weight of the SX3. It really makes the SLP point and balance better. The way the SLP is....it feels very front heavy.
  20. My gun has not had any problems actually shooting the "field" loads but the crimp on some of them have been sharp and snagged a bit going into the tube when weak hand loading. My only real complaint is that some shells with sharp crimps load in the tube a bit rougher than others. Mostly the Federal stuff is what I have noticed to be more problematic.
  21. Recoil between the SLP and the SX3 is slightly different. The SX3 is a slight bit snappier than the SLP. I assume its do in part to the pound difference in weight. They are both very noticeably softer in recoil than the Benelli M1 or M2 shooting the same loads. The SX3 is very nice shooting with the Winchester and Remington Handicap light target loads.
  22. The gun on the top is the FN SLP,the one in the middle is the SX3 and the one below is my Benelli M1S90.
  23. Without a doubt one of the best one day 3 gun matches around on the east coast. Job well done by Gary and crew and special thanks to all the RO's who always volunteer their time to make these matches happen. And a huge thanks to all the sponsors who step up and support our sport to make it so awesome. Gary......will you be posting the results to the USPSA site or another site? I do have one suggestion to make this match gain more attendance and draw a larger talent pool. I think offering a prize table for order of finish as well as having random draw will make it ever more popular. I know this subject draws huge controversy as well but felt it worth mentioning since this match came close to not happening from lack of participation. Its too good of a match to not sell out at least 30 days prior. And in all honesty an order of finish prize table will do that. But regardless.....this is still one match I will come to just because its that good and I like to rub shoulders with some of the guys I don't see that often. Huge thanks and applause once again to Gary and all the crew responsible for putting on the great KY multigun match. See alot of y'all at FNH
  24. The FN has been very reliable. Its also not finnicky on what kind of ammo it will run like the Benelli was. I have not done anything to the internals of the FN or the SX3. The FN and the SX3 both run the light target and handicapped loads without a problem. My Benelli would hardly cycle those rounds. It took 1 1/8 ounce 3 1/8 Dram stuff to make the Benelli run without fail. The FN has run with 2 1/2 dram stuff without a problem. The SX3 is finished in a gunmetal grey finish and the receiver is accented with red pinstripes. It looks very sharp. The composite furniture is Duratouch and has a sticky rubbery feel. It is just the composite model. I believe the Grey Shadow comes with nice wood furniture. The benefit of having a gas gun that weighs less than a Benelli and is not ammo sensitive like the Benelli carries a lot of wight with me. The SX3 just points and balances extremely well. The FN is very front heavy. The 22" SLP barrel is very heavy due to its straight profile and heavy cantilever mount. The receiver on the SLP is steel as opposed the aluminum receiver of the SX3. The 26" vent rib barrel of the SX3 feels like a feather. All in all the SX3 feels like a feather compared to the SLP but it does come at quite a bit more expense.
