  1. Yeah, the usual new year price increases, and I don’t think it’s going to get better for a while.
  2. The first dot I tried was an Ultra Dot on my SRH 44 for hunting. I opted for the 30mm tube and it has a 4+ moa dot. I can find it much faster than the reflex I have and it has held up through some pretty rough use.
  3. I’ll add that it’s a perfect platform to introduce new shooters with also. With the low recoil and noise levels people that are sensitive to that can play the game too. New shooters, male & female, younger shooters all can enter and enjoy the fun with little expense. This is what draws new shooters in and keeps the games/clubs going.
  4. No reason at all not to try it as long as you’re on the lower psi side. I have some 135 RN that I have to seat .020” deeper than a similar FN bullet from the same manufacturer. If I don’t they pattern more than a group. Sometimes it’s a matter of psi and timing and seating depth affects both.
  5. It should a material that can be hardened similarly to the spring so the two can slide easily together without the spring digging in but something that doesn’t get brittle. I know on some of my guns where I’ve polished the struts that they are pretty hard but I think could be bent slightly if needed. You may be on the right track with a chrome moly as that’s what many springs are made of. The heat treatment will be the key but I think can be done fairly easily. I know Brownells has some stuff called I believe called Hard and Tuff (I’ll have to check) that you dip your part in before hardening it. It protects the surface from o2/oxidation and gives a hard surface hardness while leaving the center non brittle. I’ve used it on some die’s I’ve made and it works well.
  6. That old RCBS, Lyman lube that you rolled on a lube pad was absolutely horrible. If you didn’t take it off it was like someone rolled all your rounds in STP or honey. Was so happy when affordable carbide dies came out for pistol, and Imperial Sizing wax for rifle cases.
  7. I think back on all the crap we did as kids and wonder why we’re still alive.
  8. Mmmm, love that oaky maple flavor with side notes of resin, urethane and lead.
  9. American Select is close to Sport Pistol in burn rate but it’s a larger flake powder. It does work very well with lighter loads. I haven’t compared it side by side grain for grain with SP but it’s pretty close. Same as e3 and Clays, you can use Clays data for e3 without any problems. I believe zzt can give you better information about Competition, I have some but haven’t messed with it much.
  10. I’ll almost bet you’re getting brass spring back. Your die is crimping hard enough to crease the bullet but the brass springs back once’s it’s out of the die. That’s the reason for the same measurement. In your pic I can definitely see the taper in the bullet. Try measuring it just for giggles. But if it works, go for it.
  11. Polyurethane windshield sealant holds up really well too. If you know someone at a body shop a little dab will do ya.
  12. I have some of the match ones I’ll have to look at. All of the companies used to have sort of a color code of the lacquer and foil between the various types. Was nice as if one rolled away and you found it later you had a chance of figuring out what it was.
  13. By the looks of the corrosion I would definitely anti-seize it and lube any other pivoting parts. And yeah that’s been cracked for a while. You shouldn’t seat your primers so hard.
  14. It sure seems like the more communication tools we acquire the less gets done. I don’t know how it is in your area but lately around here it takes forever to get anything done. Appointment are months out and results take several weeks to get back. They complain about the workload but the waiting rooms are empty when you get there. Makes no sense.
  15. When your bullet is touching or into the lands that will raise the peak psi a bit and that’s more than likely why the Hellcat had a lower ES. You want a little clearance to give room for, A- Crud build up. B- To compensate for slight differences in the bullets even though they are the same. C- To prevent a little longer one from getting set back into the case and negating all your efforts. D- Or getting stuck into the lands and not being able to clear the chamber or pulling the bullet out of the case. Just more stuff to think about.
  16. Well the couple of people I knew that had both weren’t any help mainly because they had a 45 and a 9. I know the XDM and XDM elite slides/frames are interchangeable between the 45 and 10mm and amongst the 9’s too. Maybe give Springfield a call. Sorry I couldn’t be more help.
  17. Can you export it to your computer by Bluetooth? I suppose you’d need some sort of app on your computer though.
  18. A little tip on seating depth. Some guns shoot better with a little extra jump. I usually start with a seating depth of .015” from the lands and test from there. In other words seat the bullet .015” deeper from where it just plunks and spins. Some of them shoot more accurately at .025 or greater. You’ll just have to see what works best in your guns. My Hellcat and XDM prefer around .020 with most bullets. Although my XDM 10mm has a long throat and is impossible to even get close and it shoots just fine.
  19. Well I sent an error log just because. Have run into this type of thing before over the years. It would be like if I came into your house or workshop and moved everything you use regularly around every month or so.
  20. Use as a reference, there’s many charts and some place powders in different slots. https://hodgdonpowderco.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/updatedburnrateschart-1.pdf
  21. If I read the OP right I think he wants to shoot one gun in different classes, not multiple guns.
  22. If you’re trying to load minor power your powder choice is too slow. If your bullet was heavier or you increased the charge it would more than likely settle down. I’m guessing that the factory Syntec loads are possibly loaded with something similar to Sport Pistol. As an example Sport Pistol is #15 on the burn chart while CFE Is #45. Your just not getting an efficient burn.
