  1. Personally I would empty the primer tubes back into a regular primer tray or leave them back if you don’t have an original tray/box. Pack primers tightly so they can’t flop around, just like the factory does. I like using cardboard boxes instead of plastic, just for the static factor, and metal is good too. Drive defensively and try not to get stopped. Seems like anymore everyone’s a terrorist.
  2. Late as usual but hope everyone had a thankful thanksgiving.
  3. Are you gripping it differently during comp VS testing? Thumb rubbing the slide? You said it worked fine with other frame, does your ejector look the same between the two? Just throwing this out there
  4. Can you pull the bbl out and see if it’s from the locking lugs or slide are rubbing on the bbl causing the marks?
  5. Good to know. I have some of the early ones from the 70’s-80’s that are still good. But like everything else that was once good………..
  6. Yeh and neither did anything else. Guess the ammo dealers needed a boost before Christmas.
  7. Could always have oval slots cut through the lug to make it unique and a bit lighter. Just a thought.
  8. I’ll add Snap-On to the above suggestions too. I’ve also bought cheap ones that have lasted a long time while the same ones from the same package shattered like glass.
  9. E3 was cleaner, softer shooting, (more straight up and down recoil) and more accurate. But it doesn’t meter as well. My preliminary tests were just some loads thrown together, need to get both of them identical PF for an honest evaluation. I’m thinking that SP may be better with heavier bullets, we’ll see.
  10. Yes, the early models had a plug and a black box that you plugged in and it Velcro’ed to the unit.
  11. Because it seems that some people/companies cannot resist not f***ing with something that works!
  12. But if you don’t use the app you can still use just the chrono by itself. In this instance the chronograph was locked up and not responding. Now this could have been the fault of the app/Bluetooth scrambling it but I’m still leaning towards the low power. It had worked fine after the update many times but I need to test it out now with fresh batteries.
  13. I need to do a better comparison between SP and e3. The limited test I did do I still prefer e3.
  14. Small shot, 7.5-8’s, a turkey or card shooter choke and a light load like 7/8-1 oz at 1050-1150 fps. Tight choke will put most of the pellets on a sheet of paper out to 35-40 yards and the low velocity doesn’t beat you up.
  15. Had my first little bug-a-boo tonight. Set up the chrono, turned it on and it connected like always. Took a shot everything good, second shot didn’t read. Was testing shot shells and it was starting to get a little dark. Went back and grabbed another shell and noticed I lost connection and it wouldn’t re-connect. So just bagged it and took it into the shop and pulled the battery to test it. It was old, cold (40 deg) and it was at around 50% so replaced it. Still wouldn’t connect, and I noticed an error message and it showing 85 shots and none of the buttons worked. I did get it to switch to 2nd string, deleted what was on there, and then shut it off and back on. Then I could delete the first string and it connected right up. Thinking between the low power and the temp might have started a chain of events. I’m going to try it again tomorrow to make sure it works. I guess what I’m saying is make sure your battery is fresh especially if it’s chilly outside. I’m thinking the blue tooth takes more power than the chronograph itself because my phone couldn’t find it and said it wasn’t supported until I cleared it.
  16. ^2X you can clearly see where the top of the hammer has been rubbing on the frame.
  17. Nope, I tried both ways and it’s more accurate without crimping. Most of the time the cannalure doesn’t line up with the preferred, most accurate seating depth anyway.
  18. Line up all the different rounds and see where the shoulders of the bullets line up. I’ll almost bet the mini’s are a hair longer. I ran into this on a aftermarket 10/22 bbl with a short chamber. Certain rounds would chamber while others would engrave. Some also have a tapered front driving band.
  19. I did a small test between Sil and TB. Bullet was RMR 124 JHP, Fed Brass and WW primer. Seating depth was .020 from lands in a 4.5” XDM bbl. True Blue. Silhouette 5.7g. 5.7g Av. 1160. Av. 1207 ES- 39. ES. 17 SD- 17. SD. 7 Both shot pretty close with the edge going to Sil. I haven’t tried #5 in the 9 but it works excellent in the 45 when you push it.
  20. We get some fill in drivers that are real dandy’s. I have an old mailbox that’s 3/4 miles from the house that we don’t use. The other day my wife had some stuff coming that said delivered but it was nowhere to be found. On the tracking it says, delivered to “Other”. Went down and looked in the box and sure enough it was in there, with something else she had been waiting for. Guess I’m going to have to take the box down because their too lazy to drive the extra distance.
