  1. What he said! Take an atta boy out of petty cash there Troy
  2. For the record, I am in favor of redoing the whole 3-gun and going to a shooter picking a single division, matching his/her equipment to that division, and awarding by aggregate scoring per division. I am probably in the minority right now, and this is a change from the past. However we are going through this mind numbing process of reviewing and crafting a new rule book. Why not go all the way and write something the majority of shooters appear to want, and what I think is a better process? Your mileage may vary.
  3. My Super 90 works just fine with 2 3/4 dram. Have you got one of the old M-1 Benelli's? They were set up to work with heavy loads.
  4. Rhino, I believe the rule is no more than one loaded "handgun", not weapon. This rule is repeated in the rifle and shotgun rules. This would allow you to possess one of each if the stage required it.
  5. We are working toward getting it in your hands ASAP, maybe around the first of May (I hope). The final issus of 3-gun should be finished by the 26th, and then it will be ready to go to the printers. Maybe we will be able to get an "on-line" version up so it can be reviewed while the books are being printed. At least you would be able to read the rules, and possibly download them while the books are being printed and distributed. These dates and thoughts are mine, not USPSA, but I hope they are close.
  6. Hey Geek, What would you think about some mid week training sessions for your new folk? If you could get them together and give them basic training so to speak, they might not be so intimidated at the real match. Let them practice the stuff they don't really understand right now, and they might pick right up and start running. Also since they will be the ones shooting, they will not be intimidated by someone ripping off a good run and then them feeling the pressure to do the same.
  7. Relax Rhino, since I had final approval over the stages there will be no stinking bed stages
  8. Hey Geek, I can account for three of your missing shooters, me Allen and Jason Ratliff. I mentioned to you about my prior committment, and Allen won't go shooting without me to harrass him Of course Jason relies on Allen, so I guess I cost you three shooters We wil be back next month, schedules permitting. Thanks for your efforts to the shooting sport.
  9. I've always heard honesty was it's own reward. That being said, powder is cheap, relatively speaking. Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Maybe your luck will be better this year I scared myself to death in Virginia one time by getting some different bullet weights mixed up in my shooting bag. All were loaded to major for their bullet weight, but made it real interesting when it came to chronographing. Luckily I had 3 of the 180 grain in the mix to shoot across the chronograph.
  10. The minutes from the on-line meeting address this issue. I have copies them below. On-Line Board Votes Voting System Title: US Production start criteria Date of Motion: 12/09/03 Closed: 12/16/03 Submitted by: President Seconded by: Area5 Status: Posted Result: Passed Motion: President moves to add the following language to US Production division criteria: Handgun may not be in single action mode at start signal Area1 Yes Area2 Yes Area3 Yes Area4 Yes Area5 Yes Area6 Yes Area7 Yes, Rollcall Requested Area8 Yes President Yes The last sentence states it all, "Handgun may not be in single action mode at start signal".
  11. Heck NO! I shoot my Para LDA 9mm in SSP. I was just answering the previous question that you could shoot minor with the 185 and probably have a very soft shooting gun. Would be pretty neat if that was your only gun. Of course if that is your only gun, you need to get a second job so you can buy more guns I want to get a good revolver set up worked out so I can give you a run for your money sometime. Boy, I would like to see that
  12. Well I haven't got a classification in anything yet but SSP, but the idea would work in anything except CDP since it requires a 165,000 PF. I always just use the 230 FMJ for that level PF. However if you wanted to shoot your trusty 45 in the other divisions, such as ESP or SSP where the PF is at 125,000 I would think the 185 loaded to minor would be very nice. You might have to work on your recoil spring to find out what will work with the reduced load, but it shouldn't be a big problem. Yes, I was working this up for the revolver, a 625 Smith & Wesson. The profile of the bullet would give me the reload ability of the round nose bullet, and the weight would allow me to shoot a 130 PF (always allow a little fudge factor) at 702 FPS. Maybe I can make Master with the revolver. That would be a hoot Might even scare me. Should be a real nice load.
  13. My idea was to load them to minor power factor for IDPA use. They only require 125,000 PF and the 185 round nose would maintain the reloading ability I am already used to. It should be a pussy cat to shoot. Thanks much.
  14. I read a post on the 1911 forum about a fellow who had purchased a thousand 185 gr. jacketed hollow base round nose 45 bullets. I tried to send him an e-mail, but can't get logged in. Now I don't know if his post is correct or not, but has anyone ever seen such a 45 bullet?
  15. Remember when the new rules take effect, very soon I hope, Production will operate off the approved gun list. The box will only be one factor in the decision to place a gun on the list. If your gun is on the list you are good to go shooting, if not, well there are other Divisions.
  16. The answer is yes. And I will gladly take credit for that motion When the new rule book takes effect.
  17. Don't do it. The rules can not go into effect until the books are printed and distributed. There will be a notification of the date, whenever that is, until then stay with the old book.
  18. Gentlemen, yes the Senate added some amendments that we didn't like. However the bill they were attached to S-1805 was defeated 90-8. So the end result is, it never happened. The protection for the gun makers died, but so did the AW Ban extension and the gun show provision. I am sure they will try again for the renewal, but this time it is from scratch.
  19. I'll second Jim Shanahan. He just finished a grip for me, that I like very much. Also a gentleman that is a pleasure to do business with.
  20. I use AA-7 all the time in my 38 Super with no problems. I do have the newer style powder slide which is coated and cures the sticking problem.
  21. No Bill, I will be shooting Production like I have been for a couple of years now. Sorry for the delay in the answer, I've been at the Florida Open for a few days. Great match. However, I still claim that the Area 5 will be not only revolver friendly, but gun friendly. There will be options available to everyone. Unless I missed something (disclaimer added).
  22. We don't have all these problems in Kentucky. Of course we never met a cousin we didn't like either
  23. Oh my God!! My name and a positive comment Well, I have to go now, as I am sure that asteroid will be landing in my back yard any minute now
  24. Jeff, In Tom's first post to me he listed a website www.pinnacle-guns.com. Easy to miss those within the post.
  25. I have a couple of Mdl 625's that are in need of action jobs, etc. Who have you used that you are satisfied with, or would recommend?
