Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I second the blasting method. I just blasted a friends Caspian frame and slide so he could DuraCoat it. Came out great looking.
  2. Thanks Tex. I figured I could give it a shot and if it doesn't work then I am only out $15.00. I need to talk to Henning about some problems my pistol is giving me. Mike
  3. Here is my second try at making a cmore mount. Got some alum angle today and started cutting. Piece that is on the front end will be bent to make a blast shield. This is the first time I worked with alum. I will try some different things on the next mount. Got several feet of alum so I plan on making some different styles. Mike
  4. How do you like the STS sight? I am still not sure which sight I am going to get. I have only used the serendipity. Pics look real good. Mike
  5. Has anyone made their own CMore mount? I am going to try my hand at it and would like to talk to someone if they have. Especially about any drawings or measurements that they may have. I do not have a CNC machine but can do some bending and light fabrication. I am planning on mounting it on a Tangfo Witness. Here is a pic of my first attempt. By no means my final product.
  6. Please delete I posted in wrong forum. Thanks
  7. I am currently building an Open Witness pistol. I was wondering if anyone has used a Dr. Optic style sight on their pistol and if so how did you mount it? Also does anyone know if a Serendipity for 1911s will fit the Witness frame? Thanks Mike
  8. I just tried your sugestion and I have a clicking sound when pulling the hammer back. Thanks for the tip. I will now add a new hammer to my parts order.
  9. I just got a "new" to me small frame witness with unknown round count. I followed Henning's video to disassemble and reassemble the pistol to give it a good cleaning. The previous owner thought that tree sap must have been a good lubricant because there was some serious build up on the pistol. Before I took it apart, the safety would not "click" on and off but other than that it seemed to work fine. Once I took it apart and put back together, the safety now "clicks" but now the hammer will not stay "cocked". The hammer now follows the slide back to de-cocked status. If I pull the hammer back by hand, it stays back and ready to fire. I am thinking that the sear had some build up on it that allowed the hammer to catch it but now that it is cleaned, does not have enough metal to catch the hammer. Or that the hammer had some build up and is not catching the sear. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Mike
  10. Brian, How do you like the mongoose?? My Hardy 9 is still going strong after 6k rounds.
  11. I use WSR primers very successfully for my 9mm Major loads. No problems at all. I like to use them due to loading .223 and never worring about mixing up primers. Mike
  12. You made a great choice with one of JL's guns. I have had mine for about 2.5 months and love it. I am currently using SP2 ( Bought 20 lbs last year). I have not tried any other powders but I plan on testing some Trublue.
  13. Dennis, It was a pleasure to be squaded with you this weekend. Hope you make it down again next year and maybe you can make that trip to the French Quarter before it is trashed again. Mike Campbell
  14. I was mistaken. It does have a Trubor barrel. JL helped me out on that. If anyone is looking to get a 9mm open gun I would look real hard at Mr. Hardy Thanks again JL Mike
