  1. While I have the gun apart I soak the hammer, sear, disconnector and pins in Mobil one. On reassemble I wipe them off and add a drop of Mobil one for lube.
  2. Happy Birthday my Friend
  3. That would be with extended life full synthetic oil. Although I don't like those kind of oil intervals, if you do, make sure it's with the proper oil and quality filters.
  4. Happy Birthday to Chris and of course all the rest celebrating today :cheers: cpty1 (49), Scout454 (64), kippiazaz (47), galt11 (33), Sean Gaines (36), wcmesa (32), bobobooie (62), Newcomer (43), Tom and Nathan (54), lazy42 (35), Bassius (64), (40), Glockman1000 (40), leighton, Bobboo (65) ipb.vars['dst_on'] = parseInt("0"); ipb.board.checkDST();<BR class=clear> Sorry Chris, mispelled your name in the title and I can't edit.
  5. Allows us to use more powder making the comp work better.
  6. I usually ask the time pretty quick just so I know the timer doesn't get bumped or some outside source makes the timer add time. I'm slow enough without any additional help.
  7. I use a "stacked" system on my 06 SuperDuty diesel truck. A Quadzilla module topped with an Edge system and monitor. Fuel mileage did increase when set on "economy" mode but just 1-2 mpg. I also have exhaust and intake mods to the truck. The power when everything is cranked up is enough to boil 37 inch tires. That pretty much takes care of any mileage gains. I run both systems in the higher HP settings and try to be easy on the go pedal. This seems to work the best for me.
  8. Only shot a few rounds through the chrono and I'm not a sensitive type of guy, but it seemed violent with excess dot movement. Maybe it's my setup but I didn't like it.
  9. I can feel the well deserved pride in his fathers voice. Congrats
  10. I just got back from some shooting and chrono work for a good friend. He's toying with a Glock open 9 gun and loaded some major rounds (chrono'd 167) with HS-7. I use HS-6 so just for sh#ts and giggles I ran some of his loads through my gun. They chrono'd virtually identical in my gun but to me they felt much more violent than my HS-6 loads that chrono at 171.
  11. Guess I should have used the flash.
  12. I'm only lube my gun prior but I'm one of those that likes to be generous with the lubricant.
  13. Well, it is one of the few times you get to handle a "BIG STICK" So very true, Duckie but wait a minute don't you only bring "BIG STICKS" to the range to play with? What's up with dat?
  14. Thanks, Cha-lee, never really thought about splits this way. How do you think one could incorporate this into dryfire practice?
  15. The postman at my work is a lot easier to work with any way. I give him a heads up and he'll pull around to my truck to make it easier for both of us.
  16. I'll start with a 170 no matter what the round count is or when I'm going to reload. For me it's just part of my standard routine, not to mention it's how I dryfire. I'm too old to keep up with a bunch a changes.
  17. My theory is to always have enough ammo to shoot the stage twice. I always start with a 170 to be consistent and carry either one or two 140's with 24 rounds in each. I figure if the gun acts up more than once the stage will be trashed anyway or I have a terminal problem. So basically if it's a 24 round or less stage (and not all steel) I only carry one extra mag. Above that round count or a bunch of difficult steel I carry two extra 140's. Standards stages with multiple strings and reloads I carry at least one extra mag to reload with in case I muff one and drop the reload mag.
  18. CCI small rifle in my 9 major. No particular reason other than it has been working perfectly for 2 years plus.
  19. I did the same thing when I first started this game. Spent a fortune for a gun that's only worth a third of the investment. The knowledge I gained about the workings and functions of every part was absolutely worth every cent I spent. Now I at least know what should be left to a pro and what shouldn't. Good luck with the project.
  20. Wifey wants a new couch.............the rest is mine
  21. Follow the factory recommended maintenence schedule which will be in the owners manual. Do regular oil changes (more often than the manual). At your mileage plugs and wires should be due. If the fuel filter is servicable have it replaced. When brakes are replaced break them in gently. Keep the tires rotated and inflated. Have it aligned or checked once a year. If you don't have the owners manual, PM me with car info and I can access all factory schedules.
  22. Welcome aboard, have you shot any USPSA matches yet?
  23. Like everyone has already said it's not hard, just takes a little time. I don't change often so I use the opportunity to clean all the dies and service the machine while I'm converting. When I get more room, I'll add at least one more 1050.
  24. Thanks, Wifey not so pleased though. She didn't know I was buying it (she thought I was hunting). She doesn't like(understand is more like it) the color. And she can't understand why I bought a manual transmission, even though she hasn't driven one of my vehicles in 10 years.
