Get your business in order and get out.
Get all of your credit cards zeroed out, save enough money to live for at least 6 months.
Go talk to your insurance agent about health insurance so you don't loose your house if you get real sick or have a bad accident.
(Have at least 1 year worth of reloading components in stock too.)
It's extra nice to have a newer vehicle with low miles paid off before you quit too.
Have some work lined before you quit so you don't have a gap in your employment, while actually looking for your next "real" job.
Employment gaps are a huge red flag.
I thought I deserved a six month vacation from a job I got fired from in 1996 and I had plenty of money saved up. That was a huge mistake as the "system" didn't like the gaps when I started looking again.
But it was fun being a range bum for the rest of that year and I finished 2 OA, Open, at OOPS that year.
