  1. I dunno a company with a very unprofessional websight, no information on the products, outdated molds for coated bullets with unnecessary lube groove that makes loading harder inability to handle demand in a timely manner, and in 2010, "we dont take credit cards" ? My verdict is probably wont be dealing with them anytime soon.

    SHINGLES

My wife and I asked our primary care physician if she' give us the vaccine for shingles IN APRIL. They've been telling us that it's backordered ... Still waiting to get ours. The Walgreen's in Hopewell VA had a big sign outside today, "SHINGLES VACCINES HERE"!
  3. A couple questions to clarify, which spring are you talking about? Recoil ? hammer? sear ?. What model Hipower ? with or without firing pin stop ? internal or external extractor ? What is the "E" in your FTE's, extract or eject ? Hipowers are not the same as 1911's, 9mm Hipowers are very happy running stock 17lb or extra power 18.5 lb recoil springs, they can benefit from a lighter mainspring, from factory ungodly to a wolff 26 or 28lb. Some people report light strike issues with the 26 I always ran my 9mm with 18.5lb recoil and 28lb mainspring for IDPA and ran about 130pf without issue, look at the brass hitting the ground set up properly brass should be about 6 feet away, I am gonna assume you meant recoil spring, have an external extractor, but not sure about your "E" If the brass is staying in the chamber usually this is dirt under the extractor, but yours may be damaged or have a wore out extractor spring. With the spent brass in front of the next round that is what I would suspect. If the brass is coming out but not ejecting I would think it would end up behind the new round. but the light spring may have caused the tip of your ejector to be damaged, I would closely examine your ejector and extractor replace the extractor spring as well as get rid of the reduced power recoil spring.
  4. This is a "What I like thread" that has raised a few points to discuss. Lets start a thread in another more appropriate sub forum.
  5. I really don't care for that sort of target presentation either but the calibration is easy: move the friggin soft cover out of the way, calibrate from the appropriate shooting position and move the softcover back. Actually not so easy, passing through the soft cover will slow the bullet down, moving the soft cover changes the impact velocity. So calibration ammo identical to mine would hit harder, It would be very hard to acurately score REF's,
  6. 1911 was mentioned where in the original post ? Smith and Wesson single stacks are DA and DAO, Kahr singlestacks are DAO, the Para LDA is DA, I could go on, The divisions are pretty well defined in the rule book.
  7. I think most reloaders reload to cut costs, a big part of cutting costs is buying used brass or harvesting it at ranges. Something to which the SDB isnt well suited. I also had chamber check problems with brass that had previously worked in my gun, Just not a fan of Dillon dies, maybe the SDB dies are different but once bitten twice shy.
  8. single stack what ? could be esp or ssp depending on model of gun.
  9. Hmmmm...I'm not buying that with the possible exception of .40 brass that has been fired in guns with an oversized chamber. I have match guns with Bar-Sto, Nowlin, KKM, Schuemann, Storm Lake and STI and ammo off an SDB works in all of them, all the time. Ask pretty much anybody who's shot with me much and I'm the one guy who's gun never pukes. In .40 I run the cases through a U-die the first time and after that they're fine. I've lost count, but in Super and SC I'm sure I've loaded 100K+ (probably more like 150K) and never ran into a situation where the ammo didn't chamber properly. R, Thats exactly my original point, Even advocates of the SDB admit you have to run the brass on another press with another die to get ammo out of the SDB you can trust.
  10. I would look for another pistol, buying a gun with the intent of switching barrels isnt a very wise proposition. You will be better off buying a gun that is already legal for the sport you intend to shoot. Make sure you add in the cost of the new barrel and fitting expenses. For a .40 you can run into a few hundred dollars real quick. STI is making some real nice singlestack .40's setup to be legal in both sports and make weight without multiple trips to the machine shop,
  11. search "rainer" and titegroup you will get pages and pages of results. Which you are gonna wish you did before you bought the bullets, stick with cast, , moly or jacketed.
  12. the only good parts were in the video
  13. Do you want answers or just validation for the choice you have already made ? No way I would pick a SDB, lack of future versatility, and was very dissatisfied with Dillon dies, not sure If SDB dies are any better but wouldnt risk it, I got loads of chamber check failures using Dillon seat die, Also no way to use a separate seat crimp die, U die, or Lee FCD die on a SDB. Once you get more into match ammo where one bad round can ruin a match you'll realize what those are for.
  14. you keep saying "class/division" but make no mention of division. I voted maybe, but now change to No, more trouble than it is worth. A system like this will reward sandbaggers, I doubt you would get much participation. People keep saying they go to shoot not for prizes, I assume those people would pay less to shoot the same match.
  15. I would pick an Eagle with a 6" bushing barrel instead of the Edge. Eagle will give you the advantage of round capacity, less muzzle flip, easier to find parts, greater choice in parts, very durable magazines, etc etc etc, The CZ is a decent gun but you will always be in an uphill battle playing catch up up with a wide body 1911/2011. There is a reason they dominate USPSA Limited and Open. They are simply the best tool currently available for the job.
  16. depends on mentality, Can you bomb a stage and not lert it affect the rest of your day ? I have bombed satges let it really get to me and probably hurt the rest of the match only to find out at the end of the day only to find out when the scores coem out everyone bombed it and I didnt do so bad after all. My basic philosopy; IF YOU SHOOT TO WIN YOU MIGHT, IF YOU SHOOT TO LOSE YOU WILL. I have lost alot of matches, I dont mind getting beat, I do mind getting beat when I didnt give it my all, I shoot each and every stage to win, I never take the safe shot, I never plan a reload on a stage that doesnt require it. I dont plan for makeup shots, I never go slow on stage one, Sometimes I crash and burn, sometimes I dont but I never leave a match wishing shoulda woulda coulda.
  17. http://www.shootingrangetargets.com/Tactical-Targets_c7.htm get the balls, put them on a line make competitor shoot till they cross another line, lots of fun. can shoot em at close range also.
  18. I found Berry's to be the best plated bullets out there, They worked well for me, a couple other brands of plated were horrendous. I found the hollow base round noses in 155/40 and 180/45 to be good bullets in standard barrels loaded with fast high pressure powders. I lived in town near a local dealer that ordered Berry's by the pallet full. His price was only slightly higher than bulk ordered cast bullets. When that supply dried up and Berry's opinion of their product went through the roof I quit buying them. They would have to get their price below Precision Moly's or Precision Delta jacketed for me to consider them again.
  19. I thought you were describing a frankenglock till I scrolled down and saw the picture. $2k looks like a pretty sweet deal, Run a few full 170mm mags through it and see how it runs. If it runs 100% on 38 super and not on 38 super comp you got a good one. Super comp brass seems to be made of unobtanium right now. I would sell the safariland holster to someone with a steel 1911 style trigger guard or be very careful with it. Eventually your gun will end up in the dirt. The extra slide and sight mount worries me, that mount is really old school, tells me the frame and brobably barrell has been around a long long time, check the lockup for slop, sandbag for groups at 25 yards and run the loads over a chrono, compare the bullet and charge weights to what others here are getting to insure the barrel isnt shot out.
  20. Get rid of the prize tables all together, give out donated stuff IAW the wishes of the people doing the donatng. Lower the entry fees rather than give cash payouts, Give out plaques, mugs, or trophies for class winners, and division winners. Oh and dont let people change divisions at registration I have never heard of such a thing, most matches have a registration deadline.
  21. First, you learned a lesson about not signing long term cell contracts to get the newest wizbang free phone, second I wouldnt worry about the area code, Lots and lots of people around military bases have cells with out of area area codes. With so many people going to cell phone only and cell phones generally dont care what number they are calling.
  22. When I started to shoot my 646 in IDPA, Backwoods leather of Portsmouth VA made these in .45, not alot out there for .40, I left him a couple loaded moon clips and he made me this one. He added a strap for carry or no strap for match uses. The center screw is a tension device, the loading is a bit different but as it is the only one I ever used I didnt have to relearn anything, Your middle finger goes to the center hole of the clip and slide it up and grab.
  23. With the exception of the engine, everything about a Dodge truck, and especially the transmission sucks, and has for ever, I really dont see why people keep buying them.
  24. too many dots confuse me, I like a dotted front sight though, My carry and old IDPA guns have a Novak front sight that is a white dot and has tritium in the midddle, They make them with and without the white. Most of my other guns have a fiber optic insert.
  25. I thinks that it is great you want to give back to the sport, but no reason you cant give to the sport and get in return, a couple sponsored shooters is pretty much all give, using that same amount of money to do like Alamoshooter said and buy a couple durable props in exchange for a plug at match briefings, can also generate you some get. Also something in the plug like a discount for USPSA members,or X percent of purchases by USPSA members will be donated to the Area X match price table, etc etc,
