  1. you will always have a tradeoff between firepower and ease of carry and concealment, different seasons with different clothes, you will probably need a couple, Since I am shopping with ur money,,,,,, Id go with a Ruger .380, a STI VIP, and a Remington 1100 Tac 4 in the car. A M203 would be cool for back up,,,, Say ello to my little friend,
  2. Re thought my opinion, Yes you were victim of bad call, but as a competitor you also have the responsibility of knowing the rules, so if you accepted the bad call without appeal, you share some of the fault.
  3. HS6 is a slower pistol powder, completely unsuited for your application. As you saw at low pressures and volumes it isnt consistent and leaves unburned powder. It just isnt designed or efficient at low pressure. There are much better powders, your primers, bullets, and time would be more productive if you started with a more suitable powder.
  4. just an FYI I too am interested in the magnum if it can hold sub moa at 100 meters.
  5. The Link just went to a black screen and error for me. State, general area, and dates sure would be nice.
  6. Seth did the slow handoff from the last MD, But Frederickburg's monthlies have more in common with a section or area match than a typical club match, VA, despite all the gun owners is a huge USPSA Blackhole, the match is generally over a hundred with big chunks of the shooters over 2 hours away. So if you blow of this match to MD you basically dont shoot that month. Its really gonna be tough to get people to how up on Staurday setup when they are hours away, And over the years your match has been Friday and Sat setup so most shooters arnt expecting to do much setup Sunday, Not sure what to tell you gonna have to decide to work or shoot, A couple things that might help, Fault lines, almost every stage has complete 2x2 fault lines nailed down for the entire shooting area, since most stages have their own bay you could probably tweak the stages to eliminate a lot of fault lines. Accurate to scale stage drawings, with measurements printed, these take longer to draw up but save alot of time on the range, basically any one can grab props and build stage without much direct supervision. Look around on setup day, is your help standing around ? The quickest way to loose help is for people to show up and spend a bunch of the time standing around while they wait on the one guy to show up that knows what is going on. all these are suggestions, that you may already be doing, but to answer your question you probably wont be able to MD and shoot ur best.
  7. Is it 9X23 that can interchange in some 38 guns? or 38 will work in some 9X 23's ?
  8. we blew our printer ink and paper budget buying steel challenge.
  9. WST works about the best I have found with Moly, I am using a 6 inch gun and I gain a little speed from the slower powder so I can back off a bit. Tightgroup and clays loads were almost identical in 5" and 6" gun but WST picked up about 40 fps in the " go figure.

    para guide rod

If the head end is stationary, and the other end is spinning then you dont have a solid guiderod.

    Mosquitos

not sure if it is the weather or alignment of the stars, or a sign of the end of days, but this is the worst year for may/yellow/dog/deer/ flies I have ever seen.
  12. Can you hook me up too I need to renew my RO certification, and the most recent magazine I have is from december.
  13. Why do you need to put an empty mag in the gun ? I prefer bullets in mine.
  14. you could probably get a used Jennings for $100 but I would rather have a more expensive gun that actually works. Whats the point of saving $300 on a jammamatic that doesnt function as advertised ? How much to a third party "tuner" to get the mags that should work from the factory to work ? The small frame witness was a great gun the large frame one is also with 1.2 inch rounds it was designed for, somewhere a bean counter decided it was a good idea to merge the frames, Until EAA or tanfoglio gets the mag issue straight I wouldnt give them any business.
  15. There's a reason, "buy another one" is the answer, If it is the same platform no reason they shouldnt feel the same, If you can find all the parts you need do the math and you'll find out you are getting mighty close if not exceeding the cost of a complete gun, On a poly lower gun like the XD most of the cost is in the upper. You also may end up with fitting issues, You didnt mention a specific sport but I would recommend a 40 in the longest barrel available, you can download for IDPA or USPSA Production, run it hot for bowling pins, or load major for USPSA Limited, A 5 inch 40 caliber double stack gun of a mainstream design with aftermarket support has got to be the most versatile gun out there, with a few tweaks one way or the other and some ammo changes you can be competitive in pretty much any game in town, Shoot even cowboy action has created a Wild Bunch division to get auto-loader guys to show up.
  16. Buy a CZ 75, You would think the manufacturer would care about the product, evidently they dont. The greatest gun in the world is worthless if the magazines dont work. A 17 round mag that only functions with 10 rounds is not ok. Also the ammo you are buying used to be about 1.165 OAL, so keep that in mind also.
  17. the snake was there cause food was there, My wife killed a couple blacksnakes in the barn, then wanted to buy boxes of rat and mice poison that suddenly started getting in the horse feed and nesting in the hay, I wouldnt let her told her to use traps.Or leave the snakes alone next time.
  18. he is shooting a 45 colt not a 45 ACP,,, if your gun is using speed loaders or loading by hand you would be in SSR and only need to make 125 pf, The guys shooting moonclipped 45ACP revolvers are in ESR and have to make 165 pf, as big as a 45 colt is it would be hard to get it to NOT make 125. Nothing wrong with shooting, It probably wont be the best tool for the job and would be a little costlier to load than a 38 or 38 short revolver, aftermarket things like speedloaders may be hard to come by but other than that run it till the barrel melts. and put great big giant holes in the cardboard
  19. most of the time these clubs that dont follow the rules have very defensive match directors that immediately throw a bunch of excuses back at you when problems are brought, Sorta like Nicks cajones comment, you also get comments like well if you dont like it leave, or an attitude that you should just bow down and pray because some one is setting up a match, and many times these match directors are "One guy itis" and wont take any help or micro manage the heck out of setup. I once left a USPSA club match rather than argue after getting 3 cover penalties from RO's that didnt know the difference between USPSA and IDPA, I got a profanity laced email from the match director, which I forwarded to the Area coordinator not sure what if anything happened. The bottom line is if people want to hold a macth with any rules they make up have at it I can shoot or not shoot, BUT,,if they use the trademarked name "USPSA" and consistently violate rules and do their own things I sorta expect USPSA leadership to get involved and put a stop to the miss use of the logo,
  20. alot of people make major with 320, 1.2 is pretty long, I would get a chrono and find out. You really cant go with what others are doing, your gun is different. If 320 is fast lots of powders out there slower than 320 but faster than power pistol, lots of shooters use tightgroup, works well at major pf and doesnt take up much room in the case.
  21. thats just it the height difference almost never goes the other way, and I dont ever here anyone ever say anything about it. I have seen lots of medium ports that shorter people could just shoot through where tall people had to bend over, seems almost every match favors short people, I only recall seeing a couple stages ever where height gave you an edge. If their are various obsticles in various places that require different stage planning so be it, as long as everyone can see al the targets. People have to plan stages around their physical abilities all the time, I cant run for crap but I shoot a 6" gun and am very accurate, I'll take a long shot in a heartbeat to save a few yards of running. But of all the probably thousands of midget stages I have shot it kinda irks me to see shorter people upset over one or two stages that throw a tall guy a bone.
  22. Stabil has multiple products, the older red stuff we used for years, The Blue Stabil is the newer product intended for ethanol mix, The startron brand from West marine is a very similar if not identicle product, use the blue additive and replacen the fuel it every couple months.
  23. The pecan picker upper works well on a smooth surface, not at all on grass, or soft surfaces, Thats why you get polar opposite reviews. It depends on where you shoot. The best method really is the old hands and a bucket.
