  1. Only had a little time to play with it and it felt good. Hopefully this summer I will get to play a little more with it. The revolver I mean.
  2. I have one that looks just like it.
  3. Only 3.1 of Clays and still make major? That's a little hard to imagine. Is he using cut-down or GAP brass, by any chance? And did they actually chrono everybody's ammo at the Memphis match? No they did not chrono at the MCC?
  4. Since you have a 27-7, that means at least four of the 100 are currently in the State of Iowa. I'll bet you the balance of the 100 are in PA, they practically hand you an 8 shooter when you enter the state. Everybody at the PSA has at least two! I still owe Mike a good cigar for one of the 4 in Iowa and I guess I will have to go to the PSA next year to get another one just handed to me, it would be worth the trip. Hell I will drive there tomorrow if they will just give me one and while I am there I'll grab one for you Mike.
  5. There was only 200 of the 6.5" made for Lew Horton and only 199 left as I had one modified to shoot 38 short colts only. Before you ask where the barrel is it is long gone and it had been ported which would not allow you to shoot limited. I did find another one at Rock Island Auction and I paid dearly for it. It does look good next to my 27-7 6.5" 8 shot (only 100 of those made. Your best bet is to find a 6.5" 27 barrel and put it on a 627 frame. Some people have done this and it works great and does look pretty cool. The 6.5" barrels for the 627PC were made fow Lew Horton so Smith & Wesson will probably not have any for sale or even in stock. I know a lot of people would like to find barrels but they are non-existent. Best of luck.
  6. R u talking about me since I am on a different squad? Yep. You and Mister Homm. Now I can see Mister Homm gaming but me
  7. R u talking about me since I am on a different squad?
  8. The FCD does not always work with lead bullets and revolvers. I have used the same load in my auto and it runs great but when I run it through my revolver it leads and bullets start to tumble. All I do is change to a taper crimp when loading lead bullets and bam no problems. Now this is for my 45 but with my .357 the FCD works great, go figure but I do have one .357 which does not like the FCD.
  9. To say an open 8 shot revolver is the same as a 26 round 38/9 pistol is like saying that a Vega is the same as a Porshe just because they both have slanted back windows.
  10. Thanks for the data Dean. I take it ther was no way to shoot it differently with the 6 shot, as in engage a target from a different position than you did with the 8 shot. I am positive you thought of this but just checking for data sake. later rdd Edited to add...I noticed that each extra relod for the 6 shot netted a 3 second difference and the difference in the ones where the reloads were the same still netted a 3 seconds diference overall. Hmmm.... things to ponder. Later again.. rdd I engaged each array the same as there was not anyway to game the course to help eliminate unneeded steps. I forgot to put on stage 4 that the 6 shot took 2 reloads and the eight only 1. One thing that might also make a difference is that I shoot my 8 shoot more than my 6 and I did shoot my 610 for the 6 shot instead of my 625 and that was the only ammo I had loaded at the time. My 625 does load faster than my 610 and that could have brought the times a little closer.
  11. Now that is funny and by the way there is room on the squad that I am on at the Memphis match
  12. Well here are the results of my local match where I competed against myself and guess what I beat myself. I am not sure what we want to see so I will try to keep it simple and just put down my hit factors for each stage. 1. 6shot/3.67 8shot/4.05 2. 6shot/3.70 8shot/4.04 3. 6shot/3.34 8shot/3.57 4. 6shot/2.37 8shot/2.25 Now for a short breakdown of the scores. Stage 1: 3 arrays 8, 8 and 6. The 8 shot definitely had the advantage as you only needed 2 reloads compared to 3. Hits were all A's and the difference was the time to do the extra reload. 6 shot time 30.01 8 shot time 27.13. Stage 2: 4 arrays 8, 4, 4 and 7. The 8 shot again made the difference as 2 reloads and with the 6 you had 4. Hits with the 6 shot were 20 A's and 3 C's time 30.24. Hits with the 8 shot were 17 A's, 5 C's and 1 D time 24.98. Stage 3: 4 arrays 6, 6, 6 and 6. Only advantage I found on this one as the hits were the same 19 A's, 4 C's and 1 D was the light recoil of the minor caliber. I think it gained me the difference in time of 3.63. 33.85 for the 6 shot and 30.22 for the 8 shot. Stage 4 CM 99-60: 3 arrays 2, 6 and 5. This was the only stage that the 6 shot won and it was due to the difference in hits. The hits on the 6 shot were 3 A's, 6 C's and 3 D's time of 21.10. Hits with the 8 shot were 6 A's, 2 C's and 5 D's time of 18.24. So my assessment is that the 8 shot minor would have a definite advantage over the 6 major and with that I don't think a 8 shot whether it is major or minor should be included with the 6 shots. I still am an advocate of adding a new division for the 8 shot but make it an open division with anything goes such as red dots and comps and another division 8 shot limited. I hope this help with this poll and debate. Dean Gomez Revoman
  13. I said that I was going to try this at my local match on Sept 18 but due to rain all day I was not able to. I will try again on Oct 2.
  14. Sent in my application yesterday and this will be my first year and I am bringing another shooter from Kansas. Looking forward to seeing Elvis.
  15. Will this be a 2 day match shot both on Sat and Sun or will the match be shot on Sat with a make up day on Sunday if it rains?
  16. I am in full favor for an Open Revolver division. I think that it could be added, not hurt the current revolver division and draw new shooters who currently have open revolvers, eight and seven shots that do not shoot USPSA. Even if we added 20 to 25 open revolver shooters at nationals that would currently double the amount of revolver shooters that attend now. I don't see that as a bad thing and I don't think the open revolver shooters will pull from the current shooters who shoot revolver in USPSA. Those who choose to shoot a six shot as it is now could continue to do so in a limiter division and all others 7, 8, red dots or iron sight would all be in open and would be scored major or minor according to the current power factor in USPSA. This is an interesting concept and yes it is what has been talked about before and I think this would be more acceptable that allowing the 7 and 8 shots to shoot against the 6 shots.
  17. I will try and see what I can do at a local level even though it will be myself competing against myself. I will shoot the courses with my 625 and then I will shoot them with my 627. I won't be able to do that until the 3rd weekend in Sept. One thing for sure I will have fun doing it and whats the worst that can happen, I might beat myself.
  18. Sad to hear, I shot with Micheal at the Rocky Mountain ICORE Regional a few times. My condolences go out to Teresa and the family. Dean
  19. Way to go Cliff, I hated they way the tattoo guy was dogging you but after the elimination match I think he had to back up a few steps and eat some crow and probably will be worried if he has to go against you. Good Job
  20. Underlug, it would be nice to see how many of the ICORE revo shooters shoot USPSA and what divisions they do shoot. Maybe we could poll the shooters next year IRC to get a good picture. But I doo feel yur assumptions are correct about the smaller pool to draw, (cull), from. later rdd I am assuming that the ICORE shooters who only have 8 shot revolvers and would like to only shoot against revolver shooters would use these in USPSA but choose to use other guns as they do not want to compete against autos with the revolver and risk going to open if they touch off a 7th round. I am with Bubber on taking a poll at the IRC. Just to give an idea I have six 8 shot revolvers and two 6 shot revolvers and the only reason I have the two 6 shot is that is what I had to buy to shoot in the revolver division in USPSA. I am lucky that I can afford to play so much but if I wasn't and I could only choose one revolver I would choose an 8 shot and shoot ICORE and steel and skip USPSA by not wanting to be restricted by my only choice of gun.
  21. This has already taken place in ICORE with the IRC. The IRC alone had 81 open shooters, 119 limited shooters and 32 classic shooters. Regional particapation in 2011 shows 23 open, 9 limited and 5 classic in the Rocky Mountain Region. 15 open, 47 limited and 18 classic in the Central States Region. 38 open, 53 limited and 19 classic in the Southwest Region. For a total of 157 open, 228 limited and 74 classic and you add these all together it comes to 459. If USPSA could draw 10% of these contestants to any area matches or even nationals it would triple the particapation that is currently taking place now. The majority of the shooters from ICORE are from California and that shows from the particpation at the Southwest Regional but look at the numbers for the Central States and that drew shooter from all over. If we are to grow in numbers we need to expand and experiment. Not all change is good but you will never know if change is never tried.
  22. 7 to 8 shot should be a stand alone Revolver Open division and not included with the current revolver division. Open revolver steel is another sport I compete in with my 8 shot. Just to clarify, I marked that I shoot Open in USPSA and when I do I only shoot with my open 8 shot revolver ICORE gun and I only do that at local matches. Last question does not pertain to me as I currently shoot in USPSA, but I could not skip this question as the poll would not let me vote without answering this question. I had to answer no as answering yes would be the wrong answer since I already shoot USPSA.
  23. It is fine to show up and shoot with a revolver in another division and when the scores are posted and the final tally is done on how many shooters were in each division. It will only show me as another open shooter, L-10 or production shooter without reference to what gun I was shooting. So if I shoot open and finish towards the last everyone will just think that I probably need to change divisions as they will not have any idea that I competed with a revolver. How did L-10 come around was it due to the ban on high capacity mags or did just a bunch of guys just start showing up with 10 round mags and USPSA noticed and then created a division for them? I for one would like to see an experimental revolver match shot with open revolvers allowed to shoot against each other and see how many would come. I think the MCC would be a great place to try this but it is not my match to do so. I don't mind shooting at local matches as the travel is near and the entry is only $10 to $15. But to travel hundreds or even thousands of miles pay $150 to $250 entry fee then hotel costs, plane tickets and car rental to prove that I am an idiot to try and compete against the open guns. Sorry but I can make an idiot of myself without the cost and again who would know that I was there trying to prove a point and who would care.
