  1. just replace the hammer and take off enough to have the cylinder latch still engage when the cylinder is open
  2. So that means if I were to play the IDPA game with the revolvers I have removed the little spring and plunger from the cylinder release so that it does not lock forward when the cylinder is open would it then be illegal. Cause if you tilt the gun back with the cylinder open and the cylinder latch slides back the hammer will fall. Would that be considered altering a safety device? Again this will only happen when the cylinder is open and the gun is incapable of firing. So If you have a semi auto and with the mag removed and you rack the slide and the hammers falls when you pull the tigger this would to me be illegal as the gun is capable of firing with out the mag, same as with the cylinder open on a revolver. HMMM
  3. Sounds like I would just send it to Toolguy.
  4. Then again it goes back to just go with the 38 short colt
  5. Problem I see with the cylinder conversion is your barrel is still a .357 and you might not get good accuracy with .355 bullets.
  6. I did that on one of my revolvers and cut it back to 38 short colt length and extended the forcing cone on the barrel. Now I no longer have any (not sure what it is called) forcing cone in the cylinder. I did this to do what you had stated, to lessen the time in the cylinder. The revolver will hold under 2" groups at 50yds. But then I have a VComp that will shoot better groups with 38 short colt just using a different powder and bullet. So as it does look cool with the cylinder cut back. I would recommend load development to see what shoots best as the bullet I use in the VComp is the 147gr XTreme plated bullet sized at .357 and the bullet for my dedicated 38 short colt is Rogers Better Bullets 150gr lead round nose sized at .357. Strange thing is that on the VComp it is the factory barrel .357 and on the 38 short colt the barrel is a .356 38 super but both like .357 bullets better than .358, .356 or .355's. So if I had to do it over I would have spent the money in brass, bullets and powder and find a load that works. After all you will still need to do load development but you will have more cash to do it with.
  7. again 38 short colt fits the bill as 9mm data is used to load them. You can always put a custom 9mm or 38 super barrel. Cutting the cylinder back is ok but you do not gain that much
  8. Sounds like my guy knew something EF Hutton didn't and I still won't drop a name but I imagine that I will let you know if he drops another hint on things to come. :-) :-)
  9. Unless you have some N310.. Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2 N310 is finicky with OAL where clays is pretty consistant. Start with 3.3 to 3.4 Clays and OAL at 1.20.
  10. Cool and hilarious hope you are as funny in person as you are on the key board and to set the record straight I never said it was on this BOD meetings agenda. I just said what was told to me and it will be disappointing if it does not make it at a later date. As I see it if changes do not happen in revolver it will go by the way of the Dodo bird and even if the changes don't make a difference at least an effort was made to save the division.By the way the MCC and the stand alone nationals are a effort in the right direction. Me I will always shoot revolvers even if I have to in other divisions. So for now I will keep spinning the cylinder whether it is 6 shot or 8 shot, USPSA or ICORE. Peace Out Revoman
  11. I haven't heard that. We do have a Board meeting this weekend. It's not on the agenda, but if it were to come up, this weekend would be the time. So, to answer the OP's question... Start looking for a 625, but don't buy this week. I don't want to be a name dropper but it came from a pretty reliable source. Let's see how the BOD comes out.
  12. You can use 9mm loading data for short colt and some powder co have it listed by itself but they are real bunny fart loads. You can find lots of different loads here on the forum.
  13. why not shoot 38 short colt and save all the custom money for reloading supplies
  14. If what I heard at Revolver Nationals is true it is a done deal with the 8 shot minor. Not sure if as a trial basis or all together done.
  15. Lee makes a die set for 38 short colt and if you use .356 or .355 bullets then you will probably need a 9mm crimp die
  16. back in the day we just painted them when we couldn't find them
  17. Again it will depend upon the brand and thickness of the moon clip you order. TK Custom has moon clip just for Starline. A guide to go by on thickness would be .020 for Winchester, .022 to .025 for Federal, Remington and Starline. Starline will fit better with the .025 and probably to loose with the .022.
  18. 45 acp should be no problem but the 38 special will be brand sensitive on the thickness of the moon clips
  19. Sorry but I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news but the mail is not delivered on Monday as it is Memorial Day.
  20. You can order one of Bowen Rough Country for S&W from Brownell's
  21. Try the 147 gr bullet from extreme bullets sized at ,357 or try roger better bullets lead 150 gr sized at .357. Both should eliminate the need for a 9mm die and accuracy should get better. I think you can get the roger better bullets in .358 also.
  22. I have always had good luck with Clays and my 45 ACP. It always chronos close to what it does at home.
  23. I lost a $100K a year job because I asked VP for an apology. He was wrong and he knew it but instead of being honest and ethical as the company preached it was easier for him to have me terminated. At 55 and out of a job, I can still say I do have and will always be a man of sound character, honest, ethical and morally just. That is something that no one can take away and I would never trade that for anything in the world. Keep your chin up good things happen to good people.
