  1. I was looking at primers on Gunbroker and pimps are putting the word "fresh" in the headers. Now if I remember right you can store primers for a long long time if they are kept dry so then my primers if sold would have to be sold as aged. Now how would that look on the header. "1000 Federal LP Primers Aged" I wonder if they would sell like fine wine that has been aged. Just another observation that I can be sarcastic about.
  2. I would miss ya, Dean! Talk about missing, I am going to get the little brass hammer you loaned me about 2 years ago this weekend while I am at the ICORE Rocky Mountain regional. I am not sure when I will actually get it back to you but it will be in Iowa.
  3. You are assuming that the primer supply is going to get better. Meanwhile what will you shoot? Well after the last primer shortage I did the unthinkable and bought 20,000 of small and 20,000 of large Federal pistol primers at $105 per 5000. Now if my math is correct I paid $840 and if I sell at $100 per 1000 that is $4000. So take away my $840 and that leaves me a profit of $3160. Not bad if I could do that everyday with investments. Well if I did sell I guess I would have to put up the guns and just play more golf or just sell all my guns at the prices they are going for now and pocket even more money. That will save me money on entry fees, plane tickets, hotels and all the other cost that go with my shooting Then I will just bow hunt, play golf and count my money and when this all blows over and it will I will go out and buy my guns back along with more guns and probably buy 100,000 primers and still have money left over. Then I will start enjoying the shooting sports again as I doubt if I will be missed if I don't come to any matches. It is a shame that the prices are doing what they are doing and I do hope they get better but sometimes you just have to say "What the hell" and change strokes in the middle, make some money and just sit back and wait. But just for the hell of it and I know people like to see my smiling face. I will probably not sell my primers or my guns and I will continue to shoot until the well goes dry or they release more primers, I know I will pick and choose my matches more carefully and there will be a lot more dry fire practice. Keep Em in the X Ring Revoman
  4. I just took a gander at Gunbroker and the whores are out on the primers. $350 is the starting bid on 5000 LP or SP and it doesn't matter which kind and the bad thing about it is people are paying that price. Looks like more golf this year and matches only with alot of dryfire. Hell I might be able to win some matches as If I hold out long enough I will be the only one with primers and will have no competition. I might even sell all my primers put the money in CD's and when this foolishness subsides and all these primers flood the market and people are selling for pennys on the dollar I will go out and buy more than what I sold for a fraction of the cost.
  5. [quote I RO'ed a shooter yesterday who hit a noshoot. I advised him it was not a good idea to waste primers like that in today's environment. Now that is funny!!!!!!
  6. As you age your eyes can pick up green better than red. I am not sure where I read that but it was some type of medical thing and I did put it to the test and it seems that I can see green better than red. I wish EoTech and some of the smaller(JP, Doctor, Burris FastFire) would make some dot scopes in green.
  7. Perhaps it's because we are shooting manly guns with manly sights. It also explains why we Limited shooters get all the hot revolver groupie chicks--they are turned on by iron sights. If you doubt that, just follow Bagakis around for awhile and you'll see what I mean. His cell phone never stops ringing. Isn't his phone ringing because of all the other manly men calling him? Also all the groupie chicks dig erotic open guns oh I mean exotic open guns.
  8. Removable comp on a 457-4 41 Mag.
  9. I am trying my first picture post
  10. That is why I am going to practice as I no longer want to suck but to rise above and conquer.
  11. Lets see, 50 yds, draw, go prone, 6 rounds, 6 targets and 6 x's under 9 seconds. 25 yds, draw, 6 rounds, 6 targets, 6 x's under 7 seconds. 12 yds, draw, 6 rounds, 3 targets, reload, 6 rounds, 3 targets 12 x's under 10 seconds. 3 yds, draw, 6 rounds, 3 targets, strong hand only, reload, 6 rounds, 3 targets, weak hand only, 12 x's under 10 seconds. This cover good fast hits at all practical distances. (50yds, 25yds, 12yds, 3yds and all x's) Achieving fast and consistent reloads on demand, I think the following covers that (6 rounds reload 6 rounds at 12 yds and 3 yds under 10 seconds and all x's) and last but not least 12 rounds strong hand and weak hand at 3 yds under 10 seconds and all x's. The only thing not covered is shooting on the move and I can practice that during my dry fire time. The other general skills I try to pick up during local matches. I achieve all the above by setting up one stage during my practice session and shooting the (lets not take god's name in vain after all it is Easter)dam thing over and over again and to my standards I have become the best revolver shooter I want to be. Well if next weekend allows, it will be back off to the range to practice the F&N standards and this time I will practice a little harder knowing that I am practicing fast good hits at all practical distances, achieving fast and consistent reloads on demand and shooting strong and weak hand. I might even take a few rounds and run around while I shoot at targets and if I have time I will work on some of my other general shooting skills. Lord knows I need help there. Keep them in the X-Ring Revoman
  12. Oh by the way I am going to practice the standards this weekend and shame on me for being a gamer and practicing this stage.
  13. I'll go with practice, too. I've heard it has been done in practice. I wonder if this year if anyone will go into negative figures on the stage. No one actually takes all the time to shoot the stage. Maybe Im confused (probably), but how can one zero the stage or go negative, if they take LONGER than 36 seconds to shoot 36 Xs? One can zero or go negative only if they stay below the 36 seconds. Example would be 30 X's, 6 A's and total time of 30 seconds = zero and if you add 1 more X and 5 A's at 30 seconds you will be at -1. It will still be a challange to zero the stage and if it is done it will not be as satisfiying as zeroing the true F&N and collecting the bounty. But hell if I zero the stage the way it is set up this year you won't hear me crying or maybe you will as they will be tears of joy falling in my beer.
  14. Troy That is Dan Carden from California not Doug from Iowa I'm not sure which one is cuter :roflol: but they both shoot pretty good. As of right now I am planning on coming and trying to talk the wife to come with me. Hope to see you there. Dean
  15. Don''t get me wrong I will still attend as long as I am able and hopefully that is a long time. Long live the IRC also.
  16. I will say one more time " Long live the Far and Near Standards " and with that I rest my case. With this no longer being a stage at the IRC then the IRC has just become a major match instead of the Premier Revolver match. This one stage could change your place in the standings 20 to 30 places each way and even though I may have shot a good match and blew the standards I felt my final standings were justified because I did not shoot a good standards and a good standards would have made my match a great match. That one stage combines all the skills needed to complete all the other stages into one stage and yes it does suck to have one stage weigh so heavy on a whole match but you know what thats what made the IRC the IRC. This coming from someone who has shot a lot of Far and Near Standards some good and some bad. Dean Gomez Life Member ICORE #16
  17. Oh I almost forgot "Congratulations to the winners of the Southern Regional" and long live the standards.
  18. With that said will the standards be scored as all other courses of fire as time used to complete, B 1 point, C 2 points, A 0 points and X's deduct from the total. Might as well just take the standards out as they will just be another course of fire with a little twist.
  19. If you are looking for a race ready revolver and you can't go wrong on the price, look at this. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=80719
  20. I like the description of horseshit
  21. Were they loaded in Short Colt or 38 special? If Short Colt what is the OAL.
  22. Talking to him, he is sold on his set up for revolver. With the condition of my hands, I'm considering the switch myself, though, I wouldn't be competitive in any case. Since I have stopped shooting the .45 revolver (about September), the pain reduction in my hands, particularly thumbs, has been significant. I switched from the JM grips to Hogue big butt and low and behold all the pain went away. I still use the JM grips on my 627 shooting minor and they are okay for that but shooting major in the 625 they just hurt like hell.
