  1. Recently bought a DVC and have been messing with different loads. Out of my first batch my favorite was probably 7.8gr Hs6 1.165 OAL 124gr Everglades FMJ. Average of 171 PF. I made up another 6 or 7 different loads to try this weekend so I'll report back if I find something I like more.
  2. I appreciate the heads up. I'll certainly do my homework before making the trip. Again welcome, maybe I'll catch you at a match down there someday. [emoji106]
  3. That was a big part of the prep for my trip, making sure I'm legal as I can be. If a handgun was to much of a problem I just planned to shoot rimfire rifle. Any idea where I can read up on what needs to be done?
  4. Welcome. Are you anywhere near Old Bridge? I've considering making the trip down (from NY) to shoot steel there over the winter.
  5. The half a second you'll gain by rushing isn't worth the risk of dropping the gun. I always pick it up off the table with 2 hands. Strong hand grabs the frame and weak hand lifts up on the slide. Pick up the speed once you have a solid grip.
  6. The problem is everyone traveling in would need to buy 10 rounders just to be legal there. A 20 round mag only loaded with 10 is still against the law.
  7. I have 10 rounders that have been shot plenty and they're still harder to "slam home" than my standard cap mags. They might get slightly better with use but they won't ever feel like a 17rd G17 mag that's only loaded to 10. Basepads won't really help because you'll still be maxed out when loaded with 10 rounds.
  8. These can only be set at WSSC correct Zack? Or is it any Tier III match?
  9. I have 2 of the 2.5's and the dot appears larger than you'd expect, especially when the brightness is turned up.
  10. Hmm I like it. Maybe I'll give that a try. Thank you.
  11. Did you just put a little heat to it?
  12. Okay sorry if my original description was too vague. My problem is that occasionally the racker will hit my strong hand thumb. What I'm looking for is one that is bent up and higher than the original DVC racker. The ball bearings are inside the dovetail on the slide. The racker itself has 2 holes that the bearings pop into when installed. I was hoping for a racker with the same design.
  13. I'm using the stock racker on my weak hand side. Also my optic is a DPP Pro on an Everglades mount, if that makes a difference.
  14. I'd like to get a new (larger) racker for my DVC Open but I'm having trouble finding one that already has the spots for the ball detents that are on the slide. I know I can modify one myself fairly easy but if there is any other options out there I'd like to look into them. Any ideas?
  15. DPP for me. I have one on my G17 and my Open gun
  16. Pretty sure a lot of it is worked on by Taran Tactical. I think that particular package is called the "combat master" or something like that. I do know he uses a Dawson fiber front sight and a Kensight adjustable rear. Not sure what he uses for a trigger.
  17. You got it. I have the link saved right in my phone. I reference it all the time.
  18. I believe this is what you're looking for. http://eastcoaststeelchampionship.com/scsagoaltimes.htm
  19. Do you know of any race holsters that will fit? Most of the ones I looked at won't work with the frame weight because they ride along the bottom of the frame. What company made your kydex holster?
  20. The stages at a big match tend to be much better than your average local club too. Even if you don't plan to win you get to go shoot a course that is most likely different than what you're use too. That alone is a good motivator to go.
  21. I just got my girlfriend a Mark IV a few months ago. Awesome gun so far. After owning a Mark iii for a while you really appreciate the new takedown process. She just finished her 3rd steel match ever (East Coast Championship) and the gun has been 100% since day one. Good choice.
  22. I switched to optics a year ago and haven't looked back since. Of course it's personal preference but for me it's just faster and more enjoyable. I think seeing the mistakes in your trigger pull is one of the biggest benefits. The dots movement doesn't lie. With some dedicated dry fire you'll get use to it quick.
  23. I see your point. I'm not all for the everyone gets a trophy thing either but a shoutout is cool. I ended up taking a Carry Optics win but with a whooping 10 people shooting that division I'm thinking I'll shoot Open next year. But then I have to compete against Doug
