  1. Personally, I would shoot more SCSA if this was the norm. As you know in a USPSA match you typically have 1 classifier and then the rest of the stages are ones you’ve never seen before. It keeps things interesting. I think if a club has 6 pits they should have 4 outlaw stages and 2 SCSA stages. It would be a better representation of who is the better shooter, not who can setup and practice the same 8 stages the most.
  2. Pardon my ignorance but why do you tumble (remove exterior lube) the loaded rounds before shooting them?
  3. Here’s mine. Got it a few weeks ago. Shoots absolutely incredible.
  4. Honestly I didn’t know that term was incorrect. That’s how I’ve seen it written on stage briefs.. What phrase should I be using then?
  5. I’d make the trip. Besides 10 round mags, which I have, is there anything different regarding Open Division? All my mags are 140mm so the difference in the gauge shouldn’t matter. Anything else to worry about? Also a guide to crossing the boarder would be very helpful. I’ve never left the country with a firearm before.
  6. Adam has videos on both trigger and magwell choices on his YouTube page.
  7. Everglades makes a really nice MRH and it fits my PT grip great. IMO it releases smoother than my Aloha X did.
  8. Thanks I was hoping that you or someone else that was there would chime in. I’ve only shot there once before and didn’t want to cause waves by saying something but I also didn’t think it was right. Glad I wasn’t alone.
  9. It was the clubs “big match” of the year but yes, still technically a level 1.
  10. All good questions. For starters, there was nothing pertaining to this in any of the WSB’s. I specifically looked them over twice with this in mind. It was the usually “engage targets as they become visible” or however it was written. Nothing out of the ordinary. As far as safety, the pits are all just mowed grassed. There was certainly no reason that leaving the FFZ would be considered unsafe. The only explanation that was given at the shooters meeting was that he didn’t want his RO’s to have to chase you if you choose to take a different route. I know, it is pretty much their job to chase the shooter... This was simply a request from the MD before the shooting started but was followed with the threat of a DQ if you choose to do otherwise.
  11. Shot a match a few weeks ago and during the shooters meeting the MD told everyone that there would be no leaving the FFZ to go around walls, etc. He said that it was to dangerous and he didn’t want his RO’s to have to keep up with anybody. He said that anyone that tried to go under, over or around walls would be DQ’d. I played along obviously but there was certainly a stage or two were it made total sense to do so, and if that wasn’t mentioned I’m sure most of the shooters would have. Obviously it could be done safely or I wouldn’t even be bringing this up. My question is, was that a legal request/requirement? Nothing was written about it in any of the WSB’s.
  12. This scoring system favors speed. From your numbers it looks like you shot well, but getting faster will increase those percentages quicker.
  13. I ordered Kuhnhausen’s first book. I think that’s a great spot to start. I’ll look up the articles by Schuman and add them to my list. Thanks for the help!
  14. Awesome thanks guys. I’ll take all the info you’re willing to give
  15. That would be great, thank you! I figured there wasn’t just a single book that is the end-all be-all but something informative to get my feet wet would be a good start. I’m in no rush to get something started but I think it’d be a great wintertime project and a new hobby to learn.
  16. I’ve read through a lot of threads here and there is a lot of good information. I own a few 2011’s and have done simple work to them but I would like to really learn the ins and outs of building one and the process of fitting it together properly. Are there any books out there that are a “complete guide” to building/fitting/tuning this platform? I understand people offer classes and there is a wealth of knowledge scattered throughout the internet but I’d like something that I can just sit and read on my time and slowly learn from. The goal would be to build myself a gun from scratch eventually but I understand I have a long way to go.

  18. I shot Mini Mart at 98% in Open a few weeks ago. I’m not sure if that’s one that got harder or easier though.

    GM/M

I have never taken a formal class. I started shooting USPSA last year. Switched to Open May of 2018 and just made M last week. So 3 months in Open to make M and I believe I am certainly competitive at that level. I watched A LOT of videos and listen to A LOT of podcasts. I dry fire every night and shoot 4-5 times a week. I think that by giving it as much effort as I could to improve, it happened quicker than normal.
  20. I shot this last weekend as well. HF of 16.10 got me 93% in Open
