  1. Open gun advantages (relative to a box stock iron sight pistol) in order from most to least advantageous for USPSA/IPSC Dot Major scoring Capacity Comp SA trigger Carry Optic gun advantages compared to open in order from most to least advantageous for USPSA/IPSC Dot Major scoring this one hurts vs Capacity (23 is close enough for 90% of stages) Comp SA Trigger (either 1 D pull then equal or a striker with a decent trigger is pretty close) Notice I left weight off, some are building uber heavy open guns right now but there are plenty out there that weigh less than the CO limit and lots of CO guns are at the limit some are super light too and neither seems to actually show improved results so I call weight a wash. For steel challenge comps are great, if you miss, if you hit first time, every time, a comp makes no difference, hitting first time every time wins in that game
  2. It is almost a twin for WAC like so close it is within lot to lot difference with WAC loads Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  3. That seems like a straight forward question for DNROI. I would be willing to bet that the answer is a no shoot is not to be considered the same way as a shoot target when looking at sight lines. (with the exception of the back of a no shoot appearing as a shoot target from another location) I am too lazy to send him a email so I will just blissfully continue with my assumed interpretation.
  4. turn the targets parallel to the back berm then you are totally in compliance
  5. Thats easy, The biggest offender is people missing stuff during the heat of building and proofing stages. The second biggest offender is there is disagreement about the meaning of the rule with in the RMI corps.
  6. I say switch now, I would be willing to bet that within a week of practice you will not be able to see the change in your scores. likely the change will let you feel more interested in general and may over 3 weeks end up with a performance improvement due to increased interest in practice over that period. we all give the gun WAY, WAY, WAY too much credit for our shooting performance, in the end the basics are the same and the performance is us not the gun.
  7. It is Soo stage dependent. That said the last nationals at USA seemed to favor Major over minor (SS beat Prod) one thing that made a big difference was the number of intermediate range open targets think 12 to 18 yards those seemed to cause a large number of Cs and Ds for many shooters, also they had a bunch of over the top swingers (no dwell) So if the stage designers are the same and there are less standards it will be close but probably still favor major slightly, but as said above bring both thats the best part about single stack, its an excuse to buy more guns
  8. funny the first sentence ends after only mentioning the angle of fire the second sentence talks about target frames and ricochets, and the third talks about berms. So first targets must be at a safe angle. Then the next two sentences discuss other construction issues that could also cause an otherwise safe angle of fire to no longer be considered safe.
  9. .03 ea is cheep for a case and primer in would run them. I would chrono a few before I loaded a bunch, but i would suspect they will be very close to normal brass for loading. The only real issue with aluminum cases is corrosion on scratched cases causing cracks. I talked to a guy that was around at the development of the Blaser aluminum cases and he said he reloaded the same case 20+ times without any issue. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  10. on "easy" shots I rip through the trigger hard and fast while driving the sight to the center of my aiming point. on harder shots, I have never been big on "staging" a revolver trigger, with 5 to 8 holes there always seems to be too much variance pull to pull so I end up going through when I don't want to. So what I do now is pull hard and fast through the first 75% or so then back off and allow the sights to settle down a bit more as I keep moving the trigger through the shot, basically I start it fast end end it slow, I'm not trying to stop the trigger press just slow it down some so the sights move less.
  11. so a partial hit 2" up from the hinge is a reshoot? or a full dia in or above the circle? how do you measure if a hit is full dia or not? do we need 8 and 12" circle overlays to decide if a hit is actually in the calibration zone? if any hit would equal a reshoot then should we just go to hanging steel any hit is a hit and nothing needs to fall? this would be faster to reset if falling doesn't matter. just playing devils advocate.
  12. I belie the majority are using #100, I have run some #100 GM but that's only because I was getting low and they were available. I have not personally tried the #200 but have seen different reports on their hardness vs #100 I try to keep about a years worth of #100 on hand so I don't have to panic too much about running out.
  13. you can tell me but I'll still be lazy and not do anything to try to keep up
  14. yep, last USPSA match I shot only 41 auto shooters had to Endure me beating them with a revo
  15. Dozens? we have barrels with hundreds (probably thousands if you count shotgun pellets) of holes and they just keep going. I Know most of our barrels were old and beat when I started 12 years ago, and almost all of those are still being used every month.
  16. Agreed, I never saw a division called out separately till PCC either, but on several occasions I saw start conditions that did not work with revos or were easily gamed to not be the same for revos, so they probably should have been.
  17. In reality nobody cares about revolvers, my experience has been for mag in empty chamber starts, revolvers have been made to load as normal, technically the divisions are not competing with each other so it should probably be called out in the WSB like PCC start positions but its normally not. like when a WSB at a local says all "mags" on table or barrel I will just do the same with my moonclips to not be a hassle to the MD who is already working too hard, but if I was at a L2 and it said all Mags on table I would start with my Moonclips on my belt and make the RO call the RM if they wanted me to do something else.
  18. My grip is the same for a revo as it is for an auto, my weak thumb ends up on the frame just below the cylinder close to the cylinder gap, so I don't grip with my strong thumb at all, it just floats above the base of my weak hand thumb (and sometimes moves a little sympathetically with my trigger finger)
  19. If it hasn't had a trigger job then double check the strain screw to make sure its tight, you can also check the firing pin length, I have heard of a few getting out of the factory with especially short pins that did not work well. I don't remember the length you are looking for but I know its in one of the threads here.
  20. 1911 slides in full profile are heavy and slow as stated above. Whats funny is with either major or minor in a 1911 I run about a .14 split on open 7yd targets, so while compared to the relatively light slides on your CZs the impression is they are slow and you are waiting for them the reality is they are not that slow and if you are waiting for something its not the gun.
  21. Clays, and Clay dot you asked for 2 they are as close to the same as they are lot to lot so either is fine and it is great powder for 45
  22. Glad to hear easing the edge made a difference. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  23. My wife's GT seems to have a sharp edge on the inside of the slide that marks up the cone similar to what you are seeing, I talked to JJ Racaza about the GT right after he moved to Limcat at a class and he mentioned the comps getting beat up by the slide so I don't think its a new thing. If yours is like my wifes it probably looks like they cut the slide back (from "limited" length) with a hack saw and did zero clean up on the edges. If it were mine I would break that edge with a round file and stone it smooth (well I would dremmel it but that's me) then see how it wears going forward. To me the concept of having a Aluminum cone on a comp like that is a bad idea, that's why when I made a comp for the wife's gun I made a steel cone and comp.
