Arredondo speedloader push technique
HeathForbis replied to BoyGlock's topic in Rifle & Shotgun - Technique
You have to commit. Get it locked into the notches and then get after it. Don't be gentle. It will slow you down and cause jams. -
Those are sweet! Nothing like a good gas peddle.

Great match this year. Had tons of fun. I am concerned that it got moved to the spring time along with the 3GN regional match and the Texas State championship all being just weeks apart. I know it was hot this year but the great thing about the Vortex being in the middle of the summer was the fact it was in the middle of the summer. Great for your shooting calendar.

Good luck to all those shooting this weekend. Should be a great match

You can get your ejector tuned to throw the brass more out instead of up. This can take several tries and a lot of ammo before getting it right. Had to do it to my Steel Master.

So where would one start if they wanted to learn the gunsmithing trade? Are there schools or on-line classes to get you started? I love guns and working with my hands so maybe it's time to put them together.

I know there have been issues with Eotech lately but I've been using one for years and it still works great

For that price range you can't go wrong with the Strike Eagle -

You can't go wrong with JP but check out Whiskey Arms. They are making some great light weight BCG's.

Building an AR for 3gun; Receiver choices?
HeathForbis replied to huafist's topic in Rifle - Technical
If it's for competition then I believe lighter is better. Check out the Battle Arms set. Very lite. -
Looks like fun!

I was one of the RO's at the last match I shot and didn't give myself enough time before handing off the timer to someone else. Ended up in the middle of the stage realizing I didn't have any shotgun ammunition on me. Be sure you give yourself enough time to get ready before you shoot......

Spikes holding down fault lines
HeathForbis replied to 3gunnuts's topic in Stage Comments or Questions
I've also seen someone get hurt due to a stake sticking up. When building stages they need to be all the way in and if you see a hazard don't be afraid to bring ti to the RO's attention -
Same here. I had my open holster break and they overnighted the needed parts so that I could use it the next weekend. Over the top service

Same here. Tried an open gun a few years ago and never went back. I love optics over iron. Even put a optic on my carry gun

I've grabbed the wrong mag off of my belt during a match. Pistol mags don't fit in my rifle very well
-
I also count by array 8, 6, 3, 2 on both the left and right sides of the stage getting a total count before a needed reload. With this information I keep count of Mikes in my head as I shoot the stage and adjust accordingly as I shoot the stage.

I run the Armalite M15 competition brake on my AR's. A 3 chamber brake that is tunable. You can really dial it in

I get 28 in my STI mags with the Dawson base pads but it's a very tight fit so I usually only put in 27.

I was having issues with the extractor and replaced it with an Aftec after speaking with a local gunsmith. Problem solved. They cost more but work so it is worth it in my book.
