  1. Have you contacted beven grams to see what he says about availability?
  2. It was told to me by Beven that although sometimes an STI 9mm/38 super mag may run reliably for some with 9mm ammo, the STI 9mm/38 super tubes are just not designed to run reliably with 9mm ammo, without a spacer that is. The location of the front control rib is what makes the problem appear. The top of the case could get stuck along the rear beveled edge of the front control rib as the rounds are feeding up through the mag. The spacer moves the rounds forward enough so as this does not happen, keeps the side of the case on the "high" side of the front control rib inside the tube. I know, there are some to many, as listed above, that have had no problems without spacers, just passing along what the mag master explained to me.
  3. For those that had shot this match for the past year or so, we won't be any longer. The twin brothers that ran the match are no longer with the range anymore. For those that enjoy shooting IDPA you'll be glad to know a monthly match for that starts this month, 3-24.
  4. TTI and Grams pads will usually give one more round of capacity due to the bottom of the interior of the pad being beveled. Dawson's are milled straight along the bottom. All are good quality pads though, my bias is towards Grams
  5. If the followers are getting stuck with rounds in the mag (plus you are losing capacity) then the internal width of the mags are too wide. STI is very reasonable company, I'd attempt calling them and see if they take care of it via warranty. Unless you are comfortable with making them a little narrower yourself. You'll want to know the proper "internal" dimensions for .45acp between the ribs though. Good luck
  6. Push the pin down and slide them off
  7. Oh, Gans guns will do as little or as much as you want. Just send him the parts. He is fast too. http://www.gansguns.com
  8. I believe you can buy sti short block kits to get what you want. Here is an example of one place you could buy it from: http://www.dawsonprecision.com/CategoryProductList.jsp?cat=FRAMES%2FSLIDES+and+TOP+ENDS:Frame+To+Slide+Fits Not sure if a barrel is included, if not there were versions in the past that did include barrel fit Good luck
  9. 8/12/14, RIP

  10. Was at a training a year or so ago and one of the manufacturers of a shock buff was there. It was communicated that the shock buff's do nothing; they are manufactured because there is a market for them.
  11. Shocks buffs are a gimmick/snake oil
  12. I remember reading some folks using 160 grn bullets for 9 minor, maybe over clays or solo 1000? Do some searching here on the forum, you're bound to find those threads. Good luck
  13. You have your own picture. When you place the mag in the gauge you'll see exactly how much of the feed lips (usually at the rear) is preventing the mag from sitting in the gauge properly. A few passes at a time with a file will get you there. Go slow. Good luck
  14. It's probably easiest to assume you have something special. How special time will tell. stock mags are not like that so someone paid to have that done. The plus will be if they had been tuned at the same time. Good luck.
  15. try emailing Adrian at MBX. He will have the most accurate information
  16. 1.235 oal is recommended for S_I style 2011 mags to assure reliable feeding Out of the mag.
  17. Need to build up some calluses on your fingers. ....
  18. Please measure the diameter of the spring wire as well.
  19. STI makes one size tube for 9mm and 38 super. If you don't use a spacer in the back of the mag you run the "potential" of the 9mm rounds getting "behind" the forward control rib, thus causing feeding problems. Rear spacer moves the round just far enough past the forward control rib to prevent this from happening. Now, do some have success without spacers running 9mm in STI mags? Yes, but it is hit and miss. Good luck
  20. Info about 9major OAL from Beven Grams, found in an older post: · First off, I have always recommended a max over-all-length for 9x19 of 1.175", for a STI mag with spacer plate installed. You can have a variance of +or- .005" on this measurement. This measurement is allowing for the variance in manufacturing tolerances of the tubes themselves. This is in no way meant to say it is the best for your gun, it is just the max that will fit inside the mag without having problems. Any particular gun can be tuned to run on much shorter factory length ammo for that matter, but in the most part, the longer the better for powder volume and making major power factor. Running an OAL between 1.160" and 1.175 usually works for everyone, in the average off the self mag tube with spacer plate installed.
