I have a DPP directly mounted on my X5 Legion.

X5 is cut for Romeo 1 and Legion is cut for Romeo 1 Pro or DPP.

I can’t make a direct comparison between the CORE and X5 because I shot the CORE when I first started USPSA and I was shooting the cheap 115 gn FMJ. I sold it because I went to Limited. I then went to CO and that’s when I first tried the X5. Can I tell a difference between the standard X5 and the Legion? Yes. Nothing dramatic but there is less recoil. Does it result in better match results? Possibly, but most likely very minimal when shooting 125 gn at 135ish power factor ammo. I know most USPSA competitors don’t shoot the M&P much anymore but at least IMHO the best gun is the one that allows you to get a consistent “USPSA” grip (I.e. high support hand grip with plenty of real estate for the support hand palm). My results were the accuracy and reliability were very similar as I had them setup. DISCLAIMER: I am not very sensitive to “good” or “bad” triggers. As long as the weight is below 4-5 lbs for USPSA style shooting, creep and grit don’t make much difference to me because 90% of the time me I am pulling the trigger at at least 80% of my max speed. To me, all striker triggers are only OK. DA/SA (CZ/Tanfo) are much nicer triggers (except the first shot).

I’ve had both. I use the X5 because it fits my hands better. Ultimately went with the Legion and using the original X5 as a backup. I had no complaints about the CORE (1st gen). Mine ran well. I did put an Apex trigger and barrel in the M&P.

Thank you. Even after reading 21.6, I guess that could be subject to interpretation but I would assume this would be legal since it would be an aftermarket accessory to the trigger. Since it is an X5 there shouldn’t be an issue with safety like there could be on a Glock like trigger. Again, thanks for your insight.

I know we can now use aftermarket triggers, but I have never seen this anywhere so I wanted to verify it is legal. Can I add tape to my stock trigger on the front of it? I have large hands and fairly longer fingers and have found that if I can get the trigger to break in a more forward position, I have better trigger control. Thanks

I have heard that theory before and I have heard the plates act as a shock absorber. I used to shoot a Stock II with the slide milled for a Venom and 8k rounds without a failure which hardly evidence that is superior, but certainly doesn’t contradict it. I ended up using the shroud on my R1 Pro, but your post is certainly making me reconsider. I also like the idea of getting the optic as close to bore height as possible. How many rounds do you have on your R1 Pro with that setup?

I do agree I like the R1 Pro a little more than the DPP. The little bit of extra width works better for me than height (the DPP is a little taller). I love being able to direct mount. I only have 500 rounds on the R1 Pro so far so I can’t comment on reliability yet. I am hoping it holds up because so far I really like the optic.

The DPP and R1 Pro are very similar in size. R1 Pro is slightly wider and DPP is slightly higher.

You would need a Romeo 1 Pro, not Romeo 1. The Pro is more expensive. Assuming you have the Legion and not the regular X5 that is your only 2 choices without a plate. I have used a Vortex Venom, DPP, and Romeo 1 Pro. I have been lucky that I haven’t had any issues with any of them. The window is bigger with DPP and Romeo 1Pro. I would take warranty as a consideration because all RDS will eventually fail. No experience with Holsun.

No expert here, but maybe the weight of the optic is slowing the cycle and you are splitting before the gun has come back down all the way. Personally, I feel like I am waiting on the gun when shooting 147s, but I came from Limited so that is likely a factor. I would at least try some 124s.

I shot both yesterday using the Legion grip module.. The original has a Springer steel GR and 12 lb spring and I am using the 14lb factory spring on the Legion. Admittedly, I am not super sensitive to recoil, but I couldn’t appreciate any real difference between the two.

The only thing I am aware of is the optic they will accept without a plate (Romeo 1 for the original and Romeo 1 Pro or DPP for the Legion). I have one of each and haven’t inspected them super close but that is the only thing I’ve appreciated.

Another vote for the trigger is fine from factory. If you don’t want to go silicon carbide, I have found the Talon grip tape works really good.

I ordered one several months ago. In December I was told 30 to 60 days but they still don’t have it in stock.

This. Most of my bone stock 21 rounders don’t fit the gauge without a little dremel work.

I never even thought of that, but it makes sense.
