  1. I got a backup gun I bring an extra slide stop too, i'm using the nitro fin now. I had an issue with my holster, so I had to use a regular blade tech, and the nitro fin wouldn't fit in those.
  2. Accuracy was my main factor, and the silhouette/true blue loads were the most accurate. With the limited tests that I did, the faster powders did not give me the accuracy I wanted. I probably need to do more testing, especially with heavier bullets. Lowering recoil has not been my primary concern to date, I'm a creature of habit I suppose.
  3. 9mm Minor. I like the velocities and recoil. I have tried a few of the faster powders, such as 231 and csb1. I've also tried AA5. Silhouette and true blue have been very accurate for me. Keep in mind that I have only been reloading for 3 years now, but the accuracy and velocity of silhouette (134 pf with a 115 xtreme) and the feel of it from a 5" barrel have made it my favorite in 9.
  4. It might be because it's winter. Last year, the summer renton/Marysville/PB matches had 20 or so running production usually.
  5. I really like the slower powders for 9 (especially with lighter bullets), I have used Ramshot true blue and Ramshot Silhouette. Silhouette is my current go to for 9. I use titegroup for 40.

    Reloading

I like it! Thanks for clarifying
  7. I have the xdm 9 competition model, I really like it. I mostly use it for idpa and steel.
  8. With the one time I had it, I didn't see it, and I would have accepted a Mike. I think it was my first year of competition.
  9. I had one once, and the RO called it as such. He said he was watching the target and actually saw the perfect double lucky me!
  10. I use it for 45, I like it. I am at the top of the range, 5.2 gr with a 230gr xtreme.
  11. Thanks for the discussion. I'm going to stick with Ron's science based approach. Have a great day!
  12. https://www.coreconcepts.com.sg/article/muscles-your-shock-absorbers/ "When muscles are tight, weak or poorly coordinated, their shock absorbing properties are limited. Tight muscles have limited contracting range because they are already tense and short. Going back to the basketball example, it is like trying to gracefully slow the ball down from the point of impact over 1-2 inches towards the chest instead of 5-6 inches. Less momentum is bled off, leaving more for the rest of the body to absorb." The punch in the stomach example is not the same as recoil in my opinion, because it's passive. Accepting recoil is active. Also, he's not saying to be limp or a jellyfish. unfortunately, I don't have any videos online yet. I just took the class last September. I do have a few on my phone, and I don't see my shoulders moving at all. I have a lot of lead in my behind though lol.
  13. I can't articulate it well enough to do it justice, that's the main reason But i'll try. A major part of what he teaches is based on Kinesiology. He did an exercise with the flinch that helped me understand it. Load one round, bring it up, pull the trigger. lower it, and raise it again and pull the trigger before your brain can adjust. I did see a flinch in that exercise. A relaxed body can absorb impact and recoil better than a tensed body. I don't bleed off the energy, I absorb it. The tension is in my grip, and in my arms, not the rest of my body. If I'm riding in the back of truck on a bumpy road (standing up), I don't tense up, I relax my body to absorb the impacts and roll with it. For the philosophical difference section, he promotes a strong grip as a major component. The pressure is applied front to back, straight lines. The gun will come back to the same spot naturally, and quickly. I don't need to "force" it down like I'm fighting it. One other thing he teaches on this is that you can use the force of the recoil to assist in your target transitions For trigger pulling, what he teaches is that it is one motion. It should end at the same speed that it started. I hope I was able to convey at least a sense of what he means and trains. I believe it's made me a better shooter.
  14. It's actually the opposite. Having been through the training, I'm going to disagree with you on these points. I won't press the issue however.
  15. It's not about being "soft". It's about overcoming the flinch response. Ron wrote about it in this page. Check it out and see if it makes more sense to you. Overcoming the flinch response: "Let recoil happen!"
  16. I tried it, and didn't like it. CZ-75's have a spot for this on the front of the trigger guard, but my finger always came off and I had to reset. My fingers aren't long enough for it I think. I took a Ron Avery class, and "Let recoil happen" was a big part of the class. Definitely helped me.
  17. I think a lot of shooters simply don't have a competitive nature, or not enough of one to overcome obstacles. It does take effort to come to the matches, and excuses are easy.
  18. I've got a sig max in 45, great gun. I did change the slide stop though, the factory one was too long for me.
  19. I shoot some idpa, but it's just because I like to shoot and compete in general. I agree with the general sentiment that more uspsa is the way to get better at uspsa. if I had to choose one or the other, it would be uspsa hands down
  20. This is going to be an awesome match! I have not shot at this range before. I did do the last area 1 in SLC, that was fun, and my first big match!
  21. I use an 11 lb for my 40, haven't changed the MS at all.
  22. For poly guns, the xdm fits me best. I have had glocks and m&p, but they didn't feel as good to me as the xdm. Springer precision has a lot of good upgrades for it as well.
  23. There were three arrays of targets, I think 3-4 targets on each side, one target and 4 poppers in the front. I don't have the briefing though.
  24. The only shooting position was on the treadmill, and you had to mag swap when switching to a different array.
  25. I might do tape during dry fire, but not during a match.
