  1. I have failed the swipe test about 20 times in the last few years (no joke). They freak out... call the supervisor... hand search all my stuff... I give evasive non-answers to any questions... and they always let me carry on. I wouldn't worry about it.
  2. The reason we write rules down instead of just letting "common sense and reason" be the "overriding rule" is that things that are self-evident to one party are not always self evident to others. In the scenario that was presented the shooter did not commit a DQable offense. They did not "engage" the steel target, regardless of what they actually hit. I don't think you are allowed to DQ people for violating your version of common sense rules. I am pretty sure you need to support that stuff with the rule book.
  3. Are those the english lessons where you read the words as they are written?
  4. Those are much better numbers then you used to be putting down.
  5. I think practicing shooting on the move has benefits in other situations too. Getting used to the sights moving around has really helped my shotcalling and it has made shooting into and out of positions pretty easy and natural. I wouldn't neglect other skills, but spending 5-10 mins every 2nd or 3rd practice session (dry or live fire) shooting on the move has been very beneficial to me sight awareness and speed. Excellent point.
  6. I don't agree with any of this. I shoot on the move when I get a tangible benefit from doing it and I have judged it to be worth the risk. I sure don't do it whenever I possibly can.
  7. You can do a lot more than just work with trigger control.. just sayin. To answer your question, both options you present are viable. There are tons of variables at play when you start talking about trigger control. Many shooters cultivate several different methods for trigger control and employ different methods at different times.
  8. There isn't too much in the way of shade structures or chairs. There is a prop building at the back of the bays we are using that will be opened up should we require shade or shelter. The bays there are pretty well shaded by trees... I personally wouldn't bother with a pop up. If you want a chair I would bring one. I have no issue with video recording yourself. I am pretty sure we can sort you out so you can stay on the range late if you would like. By "extra" ammo I mean to make sure you don't run out. A couple hundred over the 1200 will certainly be plenty.
  9. Ideally Bring: A notebook to track changes you want to make. Snack food Do: Make sure your gear runs Make sure your gun is zeroed In terms of technical skill, the ability to shoot accurately on demand is really helpful.
  10. Many people are reporting that they have guns that are grouping better. Maybe the issue is getting sorted out. I certainly hope so.
  11. I have seen some shadows do even better at 50 yards. I have also seen some do worse.
  12. YepThere were several drills that were laid out for a "standard" practice setup... (three targets a yard apart) and goal times laid out for each drill from 3 yards to 50. This. Drop me a PM if you want some explanation about these drills and associated charts. Heya Ben, PM inbox seems to be full, or at least says you cannot accept messages at the moment, My bad. Inbox is fixed. Fire away.

  14. Do you practice running around with your gun? Do you feel like you know where you are headed on big stages? Do you have a plan for the stage before you shoot it? Can you close your eyes and remember the plan?
  15. I hardly fired a shot all winter. I did do lots of dry-fire during the cold months. I got a lot better. Your dry-fire is as "serious" as you make it.
