  1. A decent budget rifle with the best trigger you can afford and a PA or Strike Eagle in Aero mount is a great start. $1000 tops.
  2. I was thinking about a Limited. I missed a couple good deals on used ones, but keep my eye out for them. Checking Gunbroker and Oak Hill Guns, the 40's are out of stock everywhere. They didn't discontinue it did they?
  3. I tried this exact set up. I'm used to an 8moa dot in my open guns, and the 3moa in the Venom was SO tiny. I pulled the 1st gen. Delta Point off my Saiga and put it on the LimPro. So far, I like it much better. I'm seeing Vortex Vipers on sale for $179, w/ the 6moa dot. I may try one of those.
  4. Can the same classifier shot in Limited, be re-submitted for a L10 score, with the fee paid, without actually being re-shot? Curious.
  5. What shape is the range in? All the locals got cancelled this month.
  6. I'll admit ignorance on CA gun laws, since I never plan living there. Are shooters with grandfathered hi-cap mags pissed because they won't be able to use them as they are? Seems FUBAR to expect hi-cap mags to compete with 10 rd. mags in the same division. Are some MD's saying "screw the law, shoot what you got?" I see the rules as you do. But rules interpretation seems "fluid" at the moment from those that make them, so who knows.
  7. I guess I got lucky. I got a Limited Pro WITH a Primary Machine mount for a Delta Point, & now both are discontinued. Had to send the gun to Patriot to get it right, but it is superb now.
  8. Just looked at the Remington 40 on Gunbroker. It's nearly identical to my Para Procomp 40 I got 3-4 years ago. Hammer & trigger are different, but everything else is the same. Plan on gutting the insides as it was all crap. Dump the Ser. 80 stuff, put in the shim. Not a bad shooter.
  9. Don't plan on the SRP working in a pistol, they are hard as rocks.
  10. Had that problem with a Shield SMS, the English maker of the JPoint. Sent it back to UK for repair several months ago, havent heard anything, & no response to email. Good luck.
  11. Taylor freelance +5/6 with Grams spring & follower
  12. I'm 26 years LEO. I'd caution you not to confuse our game with "training." I rarely use my duty gear in USPSA, because I don't want to confuse the two, & and it sucks to finish that low competing with suboptimal equipment. I agree the gun handling skills, sight alignment, target transitions, etc. are transferable, but tactics are worlds apart. It comes down to goals. If you don't care about being competitive & want to hone your skills with duty equipment, shoot open minor with your light. Use cover when available, reload behind cover, the whole 9 yards. Just don't be discouraged when you finish at the bottom. If your goal is to play the game & see your scores improve, pick your division, get the appropriate equipment (gun, holster, pouches, belt) & shoot it. Dale Earnhardt never drove his Grocery Getter at Daytona, & said "I just wanted to see how I'd finish." If you're too young to remember, Dale was was the greatest NASCAR driver that ever lived. LOL.
  13. I put my Techloks on my Shooters Connection belt yesterday, and they went on with a little pressure to close the locks. Tight fit, but works.
  14. I have used the CR Speed belt for USPSA & 3 gun, with Tekloks & it work great. I got a Shooters Connection belt last year & it is significantly more rigid. I also got about 5 years out of the CR before the Velcro wore out. They don't sell replacement inner belts. SC does. I'll check later to see how the SC belt works with Tekloks.
  15. I know Beretta tubes are the same outside dimension. I had a Beretta basepad that fit on a 226 tube. See if there any +capacity base pads for the Beretta. Barring that, 20 is the most you'll probably get in a 226.
  16. I shot PCC last Sunday, and trust me, it ain't as easy as you'd think. You do have to aim, it's definitely not a magic wand sending you to GM land. Minor scoring slows you down to get A's like in production. Reloading a PCC, even with an add-on mag well, is slower than a pistol. The biggest advantage over pistol is the unlimited mag capacity. But I and another PCC guy had jams with our 42 & 50 round mags. I now think head to head, open guns will win usually over PCC, given similar ability of the shooters. Because of major scoring.
  17. I got a couple of AD mounts from Brownells, & promptly sent them back. They were too high for me, & I didn't like the back end of the sight unsupported. Probably just aesthetics, but it was the first ADM product that I didn't care for. The QD was great, as it always is on ADM stuff.
  18. I run the Anderson lightweight upper w/o port door or assist. Not needed in 3gun.
  19. i had a JPoint & their mount. To put a Venom on it, I had to use the Arredondo Burris spacer, on a Glock. If you get a Burris style mount, you won't need the spacer.
  20. I know everyone wants the best trigger they can get in their PCC, but this is the reason I'm running a light polish on factory FCG, with JP yellow springs. Just not worth what the OP is experiencing, it's much cheaper, & 100% reliable. It's still a decent trigger for pistol bay shooting. We aren't shooting these at 400 yards on a 6" plate! I'd agree with you that it could just be how you were holding it, except the failures to reset. I bet if you change triggers, you won't have anymore problems.
  21. I have a Venom. It has the same mount pattern as the Burris Fastfire.
  22. He's describing an old Bullseye technique. The slide is dropped via the slide release, while the trigger is held back with the trigger finger. The round is chambered more closely to how the gun would chamber it in the natural firing cycle. Supposed to eliminate the first round flyer. I've not seen that done at a USPSA match.
