  1. I think the OP is referring to the permanently machined rails like the Samson or Midwest industries ones.
  2. Not to mention a short fore end with no way to change that I'm aware of. I thought they operated on the same inertia system and similar weight of an M2, why would there be less recoil?
  3. WTF mate!? I always thought the single barreled trap guns on a o/u receiver with the giant rib where the upper barrel should be where kinda cool but that thing is something else.
  4. Maybe I will give one a whirl, can't hurt anyhow. And I'm pretty dead set on staying with weak hand, I've put a lot of time into getting 8 shells in 5 seconds flat on a good day (Not everyday), I don't care to buy all new equipment and most importantly I like keeping the gun shouldered, I have on occasion had to break a shot mid load. Maybe it doesn't have anything to do with my new line of work, my last 8 years have been spent with a hammer, drill or rope with all my weight on it in one or both of my hands. Sure seems like something really changed at the same time though.
  5. Yeah I developed my practice regimen based on your wisdom Kurt, I try not to do more than 15 minutes at a time and every time I've hit a speed bump before I could go through the fundamentals in my head, diagnose my problem, practice loading slow with my re booted system till my bad habit went away and then I was back to my old self again. This time I can't seem to understand what I'm doing different, just that my hand isn't doing what I thought I had programmed into it. I got so pissed after three days of frustration that I haven't touched my caddies in a few days, maybe I'll pick it up tonight and it'll all just work again.
  6. Just curious if anyone does anything special to keep there hands flexible outside of actual shotgun loading. Reason I ask is I recently took a job that has me choking a steering wheel most of the day and after a week of that my smooth fumble free 5.5-6 second weak hand caddy loads turned into 8 seconds of anger followed by the pick up shells game. Of course I do what any stubborn guy would do, I spend the next hour trying to force something that's just not happening, with lots of cursing for the duration and maybe some crying afterwards. Feels just like my hand is made out of soft lead. Anyone else run into such problems or have any special magic tricks to keep your hands working? Kurtm, your on deck here.
  7. I don't need a top rail at all but I still got one because they can be had around 1-1/2" o.d. and a round one is automatically about 2" for gas block clearance. I'm not a thumb wrapper so it's never been in my way for a good grip and with my little hands I definitely prefer the smallest o.d. possible.
  8. My 21" 1301 with a +3 nordic tube catches me all kinds of flack from all my non 3gun buddies (that is, all my buddies) cause the mag is an inch longer than the barrel and apparently that looks stupid. I don't worry about other people's idea of ugly though, I just stomp on them and their camo mossy 500's every time we shoot. Who decides what ugly is anyways?
  9. The only people I've seen use the MPBR method are the hardcore mil/tactical guys, you know, the big guys who wear camo pajamas with mag pouches, eat nothing but MRE's and know everything there is to know about guns cause uncle Sam taught them. Guess which guys regularly show up to matches and hose an entire mag at a 4" plate at 60yds with every round going over the target? No disrespect meant to our men and women in uniform, there's know it all morons and great people in any line of work.
  10. I think sschultz was talking about the optisan cx6, maybe not though. I would stay away from that Bushnell 1-4x and I say that because I own one. Poor glass, easily bumped turrets, nowhere near daylight bright illumination and worst of all the reticle is almost impossible to see fast at 1x. It does look good in advertising, that's how I ended up with one never intended for it to be a long term optic though, just needed something cheap to get started.
  11. Mark what are your thoughts on the rifle length gas 17" barrels from bartlein that Lancer uses on some rifles? That setup sounds perfect to me in theory, the best of both worlds as they say.
  12. I like my sparc just fine for the money, and don't forget the mounts and 2x magnifier that come with it.
  13. Yeah I've seen the half plastic ones you speak of, the 9mm mags I'm looking at seem just like the 20 rounders with a dimple stamped into the sides. Looks like if that dimple went away it would function just fine.
  14. Might be getting a 9mm TS with 10 round mags included, would I have to buy all new 20 rounders or has anyone on here ever got creative and made some lemonade out of lemons? Or perhaps cottage cheese out of sour milk?
  15. Hopefully it starts getting some press here soon, I'd hate to see the only scope with such a well thought out reticle fail because the brand name doesn't start with an L,V,B... etc.
  16. Who are you talking to? I'm already planning on buying it and for some reason I feel like the only other person on here even remotely interested in this optic. I really thought they would catch on alot quicker.
  17. Just seen SWFA has a 3-9 for 600 and weaver now has a 2-10 for around 7 something. But I think you answered your own question with the first post. If your looking for something like the vortex 2.5-10, save up the extra Benjamin and get the vortex, you won't regret it. If your setting the bar with the vortex but spending 200 less, you may very well end up regretting it.
  18. The SWFA SS line is solid for the money, can't remember the prices for the variables but I think they're a little above your stated budget but considering the options in your price range I don't think your gonna find what you want. Oh the Weaver tactical 3-15 is great too.
  19. It looks like taccom is suggesting a reduced power spring for there setup, the JP is an increased power unit. On my non adjustable gas rifle putting the higher powered JP immediately caused short stroking to the point that it wasn't even close to stripping a new round out of the mag. Not even possible to get bolt lock back. Put my standard rifle spring back in and I was back in business. Hope it helps.
  20. No you can change the round target with just the strelok+, don't know about the standard strelok app though.
  21. The parallax tactical unit looks like a good buy if it works well. Ever had any adjustment settings work loose on it since it doesn't have a locking set screw?
  22. Gas key hitting the gas tube? I was unaware that was a real issue. Alright, I got my learning hat on, teach me.
  23. Not bad looking but I'd be surprised if your third hole and fourth baffle where doing anything. There's a finite amount of gas exiting your muzzle and the little that 223 puts out would probably be all spent by the time it gets that far. Assuming your pictured design is gonna be around the 1x3 size I think it could be made just as effective in 3/4s of that length. A bigger caliber could probably take advantage of all that baffle surface area but it's most likely overkill for the little guys. Just my .02, I could be wrong, it happened once before.
