  1. Yes, I have the same problem with my latest batch of ACME. I can load 124 gr from Extreme and all are fine, plunk test and gauge, but the ACME's failing both tests. I measured the sizes of both and found the Extreme to be .356, and the ACME to be 0.3565-0.357, just a few thousands, but the effect is quite drastic. I checked everything, and followed all recommendations I could find here, but the only difference was the bullet size. Maybe I should talk to ACME, too.
  2. Run mine in walnut with nufinish for about 1-2 hours.
  3. Used it for 124 for some time, very, very soft shooting. However, only my Walthers would cycle reliably, Glock 34 always had a problem and other 9 mm guns did not like it as well. Using it now only for 38 spl.
  4. These are not brass nuts, they are zinc plated steel which has been chromated to get the yellowish color.
  5. Lil can of compressed air goes a long way!

    primers

To be on the safe side, I ordered some on Monday night, just in case.
  7. Just bought a 550 from them, all good, great communication! Free shipping as well, but only for the press itself.
  8. I have a Dillon Strongmount from my Square Deal, and plan to buy a 550. Would the 550 fit onto the Strongmount for the SQD (with maybe some slight adjustments)?
  9. Truly odd, spoke with someone at Dillon and he told me the same, however, the press came only with one slide and this was the one installed. After I spoke with a supervisor, they agreed and sent me the missing slide. I am anal when it comes to parts for my presses, and everything is organized (in blue boxes!!) and labeled properly.
  10. Called Dillon and they will send me one. Supposedly all 550 are send out with a large primer slide installed. This is odd, as I always loaded only 38 spl and 9 mm with the initial installed small primer slide.
  11. Earlier this year, I bought a 550 for 38 spl, and also caliber conversions for 9 mm and .45 acp (with powder measures, dies etc, the whole thing). So far, I used it mainly for 38 and some 9 mm. This afternoon I was going to convert it to .45. There is no primer bar (primer slide) for the large primers anywhere to be found. Does the press come with both, large and small bar?? It was set up with the small bar, and I went through all the stuff that came with it, and did not find a large primer bar. Odd.....
  12. Same here, important is that one adds the lube first to the baggie, so you are not spraying it onto/into cases.
  13. Classic Turret! I loaded for quite some time on it, before I went to a Dillon 550.
  14. My problem is only they do not ship to NJ....
  15. Winchester is also my favorite primer, and S&B are fine too for me. Too bad they are not longer to find. Last time I bought them for some $18 at Cabela's...last week Cabela's was pretty much out of any pistol primer, just a few boxes LP from Remington on the shelves.
  16. Stopped at Cabela's in Hamburg yesterday and they had no small pistol primers of any make, just a few boxes of large primers from Winchester. Looks like supplies are drying up....
  17. Dry tumble with walnut and Nufinish, then load and shoot - repeat....
  18. That is good to know, guess I try with out them.
  19. ...replacement shades for my Caldwell ballistic chronograph.... Yesterday a round went a bit too high and the rear shade was cut in half, typical newbee chrono mistake I guess Searched the net for a good while, but cannot seem to find them. They must be get shot from time to time, so I thought they were easily obtainable. Any help is appreciated.
  20. I use Titewad for 38 spl exclusively with both ACME coated and Extreme plated 158 gr bullet (3 grains of Titewad) and have it used for 9 mm with 124 gr bullets - extremely soft!
